HAYGOOD, FRANCES DUNN, February 24, 2015 Frances 'Frankie' Dunn Haygood, 88, of Kaneohe, a retired realtor has 
died. Frankie was born, October 4, 1926 in Delaware to J Frank Dunn and Mary Mahaffey Dunn. Along with her 
'pioneer' parents and elder sister they relocated to the Territory of Hawaii in 1929. Frankie graduated from Sacred 
Hearts Academy in 1944. After the War, she moved to the East Coast and was employed by the Canadian Ambassador, 
in Washington, DC, as his personal secretary for two years. Frankie enjoyed her time working in Washington and 
especially loved the opportunity to get to know her extended family in Delaware. Frankie was a true Island girl and 
followed her heart home to Honolulu where in 1949 she married Paul F. Haygood and worked as Executive Secretary 
for the CEO of Queens Hospital. Frankie was instrumental in helping to start several real estate offices in Honolulu 
including, Vi Dolman, Jake Urner and Ann Jeffries. She is survived by her sons Paul Gerard Haygood of Kaneohe; James 
Dunn Haygood (Jackie Murphy) of Branson Missouri; daughter Mary Haygood Topic (Robert Topic) of Kaneohe; 
brothers Joseph Patrick Dunn (Dolores Davey Dunn); Brother James Mary Dunn S.S.C.C., eleven grandchildren and 
three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Fitzgerald Haygood and sister Jane Dunn 
Lowe. Visitation 10:30am Friday, January 6, 2015 at Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Services 11am. Burial will follow at

FRUMKIN, ALBERT, (91) of 15115 Interlachen Drive, Silver Spring, MD, formerly from Aiea, Hawaii, passed away 
peacefully on Sunday, May 3rd, 2015. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and served in the 106th Infantry 
Division of the US Army during WWII. Albert was a Prisoner of War during the Battle of the Bulge. After he was 
liberated and honorably discharged, he returned to Washington, DC. where he attended GW University and then had a 
successful career with the Federal government. In 1979 he retired to Hawaii with his wife, Helen, where he dedicated 
himself to the service of other veterans in numerous capacities including the Director of the USO,and the Commander 
of the Hawaii Chapter of the American Ex-POW Group and endless service at the Family Service Center in Pearl Harbor. 
Family was everything to Al. He is survived by his wife, Helen, of nearly 68 years,. He leaves three children - Eileen 
Frumkin of Broadlands, VA, Robert (Maureen) Frumkin of Olney, MD and Susan (Mark) Goldenberg of Discovery Bay, 
CA. He is also survived by seven grand- children and eight great-grand- children. His surviving sister Gerry Kojan of 
Palmyra, VA and many nieces and nephews. Burial will be with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery at a

NISSANKA, SITA, May 6, 1929 to June 9, 2015, Leelanganie 'Sita' Nissanka (Byrne), a Honolulu resident for almost 50 
years, passed away in San Ramon, California. She was 86. A public health researcher and educator, Sita was a prolific oil 
painter, watercolorist, and batik artist, and her work was exhibited in galleries and private collections. Born on the 
family plantation in Sri Lanka, (then Ceylon), Sita graduated from the University of London, and won a UN scholarship 
to study in Japan. She returned to Sri Lanka to lead vocational training at the College of Agriculture. She moved to Hong 
Kong to serve in the Department for World Service, providing rehabilitation and training to refugees. She married 
Desmond Byrne from London. Sita held positions at Variety Club School, Cancer Research Center, and Pacific Basin 
Rehabilitation Research Center. They were a host family to students from throughout Asia studying at East-West 
Center and opened their home for family meals and short-term stays. Sita famously hosted Sri Lankan dinners for 
friends and taught cooking classes. Sita became the first woman to earn both a master's and doctoral degree in Public 
Health from UH-Manoa. At King Saud University in Saudi Arabia, she led research to improve access to healthcare for 
Muslim women. Sita returned to Honolulu and became director of the Native Hawaiian Health Professions Scholarship 
Program, which awards scholarships to Native Hawaiians for advanced medical training, after which they serve local 
underserved communities. Sita helped hundreds of students graduate with degrees in medicine, dentistry, and nursing, 
increasing the ranks of Native Hawaiians practicing medicine throughout the islands. Sita is survived by a sister and 
niece in Colombo, two children, daughter, Maya McBride (Dan), son, Jahan Byrne (Jennifer Derby), and four grandsons.

BAILEY, JAMES I. 'JIM', known to everyone as 'Jim' passed away in his home in Oceanside California on June 10, 2015. 
Although he was in Oceanside to be near his daughter and family, his heart and his thoughts always remained in his 
beloved Hawai'i. Jim was born in Sullivan, IN on August 5, 1924. He grew up in Jackson, MI with his parents and 3 
siblings. After graduating from Jackson High he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during World War II in Germany as 
an infantryman attached to a tank battalion. He was wounded by ordinance from a German tank during the taking of 
the Remagen Bridge, part of the Allied Invasion of Germany. He returned to the U.S. for his recovery, and after being 
discharged from the Army, he traveled to Honolulu in 1953 to visit with a life-long friend from his home town. Shortly 
after arriving he met the love his life, Gwendolyn 'Gypsy' Bruns Bailey of Ka'imuki. They were happily married until her 
death 46 years later. Jim's entire work career was in the restaurant business. He worked for the original Don the 
Beachcomber, Spencecliff, the Ilikai, and owned the Wiki Burger on Wai'alae Avenue. He finished his career as a 
successful salesman for the Hobart Corporation, selling restaurant equipment. He was devoted to his customers, and 
always said that he considered everyone he met a future friend. Jim is survived by his older sister Barbara Boyle of 
Michigan, son Kenneth G. Bailey of Honolulu, daughter Jaimee A. Pittman of Oceanside CA, granddaughter Erin K. 
Bailey of Seattle WA, grandson D.J. Pittman of Anaheim CA, and nieces and nephews. There will be services with 
military honors at Punchbowl on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Please join us afterwards for lunch and to

EATON, ARTHUR F., (Major- Retired U.S. Army), passed away June 10, 2015 in Talent Oregon with his wife, Noni and his 
four children at his side. He was born in Honolulu in 1935. He attended Maryknoll School and graduated from 
Kamehameha School for Boys in 1953. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1955 and served tours in Germany, Korea, 
Hawaii, Alaska and Vietnam. He retired in 1968. In 1970, he moved to Talent, Oregon and earned his Bachelor's degree 
and teaching certificate from Southern Oregon State College. He taught 5th and 6th grade in the Eagle Point School 
District where he coached basketball and football. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a constant presence 
at any school event that his children or grandchildren were participating in. Art is survived by his wife, Noni; their four 
children, Kathy, Jody, Byron and Marti and spouses Dwayne, Sammie and Gary and eight grandchildren, Chris, Tiffany 
(Mike), Sean (Suzie), Heather, Josh, Mary, Briana and Kele. Art was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Thelma 
Eaton of Honolulu, Hawaii. A memorial service will be held on August 8th at the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Memorial
