    How can animation become a space where we are able to envision new forms of working, designing and living together? In this panel discussion, we explore animation not only as an artistic medium, but also as a tool of resistance – against the capitalist hustle culture, patriarchal structures and burnout. With guests from the industry, we will discuss what it means to challenge the hustle or grind culture in the creative industry – a ‘culture’ that considers pressure to perform and non-stop work as prerequisites for personal success.     The integration of on-demand ridepooling services provided by autonomous vehicles into transportation systems offers a solution to mobility challenges in the future. If such services effectively enable travellers to share a vehicle instead of driving alone, higher vehicle occupancy rates would lead to a more efficient use of existing road infrastructure. This in turn could help alleviate traffic congestion and its associated drawbacks. The acceptance of such autonomous ridepooling (aRP) services by prospective users is essential for their successful adoption. Therefore, this qualitative study aims to uncover the relevant factors that determine aRP acceptance and to better understand the drivers and barriers of aRP acceptance using a user-centered approach. Through 18 semi-structured in-depth interviews with a diverse range of participants, the study revealed the significance of performance expectations with regards to safety, comfort, flexibility, sustainability, and social aspects in shaping acceptance for aRP. Notably, ambivalent attitudes and controversial perceptions of these factors as well as differences between public transport and private car users underscore the importance of customer segmentation and tailored strategies for the design and promotion of aRP services. Findings emphasize the need for aRP services to prioritize user-centric approaches to enable the adoption and facilitate the integration of aRP as a more sustainable option into future transportation systems

    Navigating the Intersection of I.T. and Sustainability in Air Cargo

    The air cargo industry faces significant challenges in achieving operational efficiency and sustainability, particularly due to imbalances in cargo traffic. This thesis explores these challenges through an extensive literature review, and a combination of implementing research methods, while collecting new insights, to develop a case solution for Basel’s EuroAirport. Known for its high volume of outbound pharmaceutical shipments and low inbound cargo, Basel exemplifies the issue of imbalanced cargo flows that undermine both economic and environmental performance. The research aims to address this imbalance by leveraging advanced simulation frameworks and integrating e-commerce strategies to enhance sustainability. Using a mixed-methods approach, quantitative data from cargo volumes, flight schedules, fuel use, and emissions, along with qualitative insights from stakeholder interviews, are collected to develop a robust simulation model. This model tests various scenarios to identify the most effective strategies for optimizing cargo flows and improving sustainability
