Trust in AI-generated virtual assistants in online-consulting

    No full text
This study examines the influence of anthropomorphism on consumer perceptions of human versus AI-generated virtual assistants (VAs), with a particular focus on the roles of warmth and competence in influencing trust in the salesperson. A between-subject design was employed with 119 participants. The findings demonstrate that human agents are perceived as significantly warmer, more competent, and more trustworthy than AI avatars. The results of the mediation analysis demonstrate that warmth acts as a complete mediator in the relationship between anthropomorphism and trust, whereas competence does not exert a significant mediating effect. These findings underscore the pivotal role of warmth in fostering trust and indicate that integrating human-like warmth into AI-generated VA design may help to bridge the trust gap

Creating highly useful meeting minutes from transcripts

    No full text
This master's thesis proposes to enhance AI-generated meeting minutes by leveraging structured prompting and schema-based strategies within a transcript-only setup. Current AI models often produce summaries that lack actionable details such as tasks, decisions, and assigned responsibilities, which limits their effectiveness in organizational settings. The research aims to address this gap by exploring how prompt engineering and design constraints can improve the clarity and usefulness of automatically generated meeting minutes

Zwischen Vielfalt und Verunsicherung. Diskriminierungskritische Wissensvermittlung im Spannungsfeld gesellschaftlicher Debatten

    No full text

Acoustic stimulation during sleep predicts long-lasting increases in memory performance and beneficial amyloid response in older adults

    No full text
Sleep and neurodegeneration are assumed to be locked in a bi-directional vicious cycle. Improving sleep could break this cycle and help to prevent neurodegeneration. We tested multi-night phase-locked acoustic stimulation (PLAS) during slow wave sleep (SWS) as a non-invasive method to improve SWS, memory performance and plasma amyloid levels.32 healthy older adults (agemean: 68.9) completed a between-subject sham-controlled three-night intervention, preceded by a sham-PLAS baseline night.PLAS induced increases in sleep-associated spectral-power bands as well as a 24% increase in slow wave-coupled spindles, known to support memory consolidation. There was no significant group-difference in memory performance or amyloid-beta between the intervention and control group. However, the magnitude of PLAS-induced physiological responses were associated with memory performance up to 3 months post intervention and beneficial changes in plasma amyloid. Results were exclusive to the intervention group.Multi-night PLAS is associated with long-lasting benefits in memory and metabolite clearance in older adults, rendering PLAS a promising tool to build upon and develop long-term protocols for the prevention of cognitive decline

Improving Cybersecurity Regulatory Compliance for the MedTech Industry

    No full text
Medical technology startups face one of the most challenging regulatory environments in terms of cybersecurity compliance compared to other industries. A visionary idea and a company's desire to achieve market success are accompanied by a complex and interdependent ecosystem of national, supranational and global requirements that must be adhered to. Failure to comply can result in patient harm, reputational damage, fines and even market exclusion

Effects of Bi and Sb ion incorporation on the optoelectronic properties of mixed lead–tin perovskites

    No full text
Doping with small densities of foreign ions is an essential strategy for tuning the optoelectronic properties of semiconductors, but the effects of doping are not well-understood in halide perovskites. We investigate the effect of Bi3+ and Sb3+ doping in lead–tin perovskites. Films doped with small amounts of BiI3 and SbI3 show greatly increased non-radiative recombination at precursor doping concentrations as low as 1 ppm for Bi3+ and 1000 ppm for Sb3+. We rationalize such behaviour by density functional theory (DFT) simulations, showing that these metal ions can be incorporated in the perovskite crystal by introducing deep trap levels in the band gap. Having found that very small amounts of Bi3+ greatly reduce the optoelectronic quality of lead–tin perovskite films, we investigate the presence of Bi impurities in perovskite precursor chemicals and find quantities approaching 1 ppm in some. In response, we introduce a facile method for removing Bi3+ impurities and demonstrate removal of 100 ppm Bi from a perovskite ink. This work demonstrates how the incorporation of small concentrations of foreign metal ions can severely affect film quality, raising the importance of precursor chemical purity
