The Wellness Center 
•   Students will monitor themselves for symptoms of COVID-19 listed by the CDC for 
14 days prior to returning to campus. Students who develop symptoms of COVID-19 
during this time should not return to campus. Instead, students should contact a 
healthcare provider for evaluation and guidance prior to returning to campus.  
•   You can also visit your state or local health department’s website to look for the  
latest local information on testing or use the link https://www.naccho.org/ 
membership/lhd-directory.
•   All students must complete COVID-19 testing no more than seven days prior to  
their return to campus and enter their results in the Wellness Center student  
portal, Medicat. 
•   Students will do daily symptom screening, using a provided screening tool,  
that will provide instructions for follow-up, if needed. 
•   All individuals on campus, including students, will be required to wear masks  
or face coverings in public spaces and spaces used by multiple people. 
•  Students, in most cases, will be required to get an annual flu shot. 
•   Walk-in and self-scheduled student appointments at the Wellness Center  
are suspended until further notice. 
•   Students must call (404-471-7100) to make an appointment to be seen at  
the Wellness Center. 
•   All students who are scheduled for an appointment with the Wellness Center  
will undergo COVID-19 screening. 
•   Only students with an appointment can be in the lobby/waiting area of the  
Wellness Center —no visitors, friends, etc. will not be allowed.
.Residence Life
 
•  Students will return to campus using a staggered move-in schedule (by appointment 
only). Operational modifications to ensure appropriate physical distancing and other 
health and safety measures will be implemented throughout the move-in process. 
• New Students will move in on August 15 and 16. 
• Returning students will move in on August 17 and 18. 
•  New international students will arrive on August 16, if travel conditions permit.  
If new international students are not able to arrive by that date, they must contact 
the Center for Global Learning immediately. 
•  Returning international students with later arrival dates will be accommodated on 
a case- by-case basis and must coordinate their arrival with the Center for Global 
Learning and with the Office of Residence Life. 
•  Guests will be limited during the residential move-in process, and the guest policy will 
be modified during the semester, as part of our mitigating and safety efforts. The Office 
of Residential Life will communicate specific guidelines to all on-campus residents. 
•  The Office of Residence Life is coordinating with the Office of Accessible Education 
to reasonably accommodate students with health issues and other specific needs. 
•  The residence life team will ensure the availability of secured spaces on campus for 
residential students that may require quarantine or isolation.
•  Detailed communication with all residents regarding “what to bring” will be sent to 
students during the summer, or students may visit the residence life website for the 
most up-to-date information.

Conduct and Community Standards 
•   All students will be required to physical distance, wear face coverings, frequently 
wash and/ or sanitize their hands, regularly disinfect shared surfaces, self-isolate  
as appropriate, monitor their own health and participate in the College’s  
contact tracing efforts by reporting exposure to COVID-19.
•  Meetings, hearings and activities will be in a virtual format. 
•   Students will sign the “BE WELL” pledge to uphold the  
community standards guidelines issued by the College  
regarding COVID-19.
Center for Student Involvement 
•  COVID-19 Event Planning Guide distributed to all student organizations prior  
to arrival to campus via IOC/SGA. 
•  COVID-19 Shuttle Policy has been updated to reflect CDC guidelines for safety  
and prevention. Shuttle service will be limited during this time.
•   All large scale/office hosted events will be postponed or have limited access and 
restricted numbers of attendees. 
• Virtual options providing a hybrid format of student activities/campus recreation. 
Alston Campus Center 
• All students, faculty, and staff entering the building must wear a face mask/covering.
•  Guests will not be permitted inside the building, including vendors, with the  
exception of those visiting the Post Office and Amazon Lockers. 
•  Signage and room capacity displayed contingent on July walk through with Facilities 
and Dining Services. 
•  Restricted student ID access to Student Work Room and Workout Space to limit  
the number of students in each space, at any given time.
New Student Orientation 
• Orientation Leader Directors move in on July 13. 
•  Orientation Leaders move in on August 11 with training  
August 12-14. 
•  Virtual platform Go2Orientation launched on August 1  
and must be completed by August 16 before new students  
begin on-campus hybrid orientation 
•  On August 17th, new students will participate in  
on-campus hybrid activities, which includes both in-person 
small groups and online.  A schedule of events will be  
posted in early August.

Center for Leadership and Service 
•  Legacy will be held for incoming students August 18-19 in a  
hybrid format of online modules and small in-person Legacy 
group discussions. 
•  Campus programs will be offered in larger spaces that will allow 
for physical distancing. Streaming options will be available to  
account for capacity concerns, as well as individuals who are  
immunocompromised. 
•  Off-campus community engagement initiatives will not be facilitated until it is 
deemed safe to do so. However, CLS will be working closely with community  
partners to identify opportunities to offer support in other capacities remotely. 
•  Overnight off-campus retreats will be replaced with on-campus activities  
in person that allow for physical distancing, as well as virtual elements.
Athletics 
 
•  NCAA athletic competition will resume in the fall. Athletes will return to campus  
to begin training and acclimation to new protocols on August 7. 
•  All athletes will be tested for COVID-19 upon arrival, and will be screened daily  
for symptoms. Student-athletes will be also be under strict physical distancing 
guidelines, and athletic facilities will be regularly sanitized after every use. 
•  The competition schedule will be changed to prioritize USA South contests  
and reduce the need for overnight travel. 
•  Options for family and fans to view games online. All fall sporting events will  
be spectator-free. 
•  Face-to-face physical education courses will be discontinued with the exception  
of swim and tennis. Alternative online options will be available for students who 
registered for other courses.

Agnes Scott College Integrated Pest 
Management Plan

Introduction 
Agnes Scott College’s Center for Sustainability and Office of Facilities work closely 
together to promote the sustainability of the college through thoughtful landscape and 
maintenance practices. In accordance with our goals as a Bee Campus, the purpose of 
this IPM plan is to reduce the use of chemical pesticides on Agnes Scott campus in order 
to prioritize safe habitat for wildlife and pollinators. 
 
Background 
Agnes Scott has contracted BrightView since 2000 for landscape management. 
BrightView utilizes an integrated pest management (IPM) plan in caring for Agnes Scott 
grounds ​which states​: “Preventing and controlling problem insects, diseases and weeds 
is sometimes a challenge. All products used are done so within an integrated pest 
management program”. 
 
Following the establishment of Agnes Scott college as a Bee Campus, a round-table 
discussion was organized in November, 2019 with the BrightView Account Manager for 
Agnes Scott, as well as the Regional Director of Technical Services in order to highlight 
our goals in protecting pollinators and promoting safer, more sustainable habitats for all 
organisms. 
 
Goals of IPM 
We seek to reduce the risk of pest damage to people, property, buildings, and other 
species via pest management strategies designed with knowledge of pest/host biology in 
mind. Through an IPM plan we strive to reduce the use of pesticides in order to decrease 
impacts on beneficial insects and subsequent species that use them as a food resource 
throughout the ecosystem. 
 
Agnes Scott College seeks to uphold the tenets of IPM by: 
1. Maintaining a healthy and attractive campus landscape 
2. Setting action thresholds 
3. Identifying and monitoring pests 
4. Preventing pests 
5. Controlling pests above action thresholds 
 
Our Plan and Policy 
Action thresholds​: Agnes Scott College Facilities in conjunction with BrightView will 
not regularly apply insecticides, fungicides, or herbicides to campus shrubs, trees, and 
other greenery except  in rare cases of high risk to valuable species, in which pest species 
have caused significant damage, or the pest species pose a significant threat in 
spreading to the larger community. Agnes Scott College commits to not utilize 
neonicotinoids except in cases of significant damage to campus Ash trees by the 
Emerald Ash Borer. 
Yearly applications vary as the needs of the campus fluctuate. For a current record of 
products used by BrightView at Agnes Scott College please contact 
sustainability@agnesscott.edu. 
 
Monitoring​: Agnes Scott College Office of Facilities employees and BrightView 
employees are responsible for regularly monitoring and reporting instances of pest 
presence of concern. Agnes Scott College Office of Facilities performs monthly 
walk-throughs with BrightView to assess campus conditions. In the next year, Agnes 
Scott College hopes to organize training on pest observation and identification which 
will be open to staff, faculty, and students. 
 
Preventing pests​: 
Agnes Scott will first utilize practices of: 
● Regular monitoring (Agnes Scott and BrightView employees) 
● Mechanical controls (such as the use of pine straw and leaf mulching 
around plant beds and trees to deter weeds) 
● Biological controls (planting with knowledge of pest-host interactions to 
select naturally resistant species with preference for natives, or co-planting 
species with known predator insects to deter pests) 
 
Agnes Scott College will also integrate preventative cultural practices when possible to  
circumvent the use of pesticides by choosing plants and landscaping practices, as the 
opportunity arises for replacement, which naturally are more tolerant to/do not harbor 
pest species. Agnes Scott landscaping and pest management practices will prioritize the 
control​ of pest species over ​eradication​. 
 
 
Control​: 
When the above-mentioned strategies have been exhausted and pests remain above 
acceptable levels Agnes Scott Facilities and BrightView may then utilize alternative 
least-toxic tactics.

FILMING ON CAMPUS
Located in Atlanta, Agnes Scott College sits on 
100 acres of classically beautiful historic buildings, 
quadrangles and academic spaces. The college’s 
exceptional architecture, traditional as well as modern 
interiors and beautifully landscaped green spaces 
make it an ideal location for feature productions, 
television shows, commercials and still photography.
We’re an experienced production location. Our film-
friendly campus is centrally located, compact and 
logistically accessible. The campus has ample parking 
space for production crews and actors. We also have 
on-campus staging areas for base camps and parking 
for full-size semi trucks.
Campus architecture includes 30 beautiful collegiate 
Gothic and Victorian red brick-and-stone buildings. 
Among these are our award-winning observatory, 
traditional and contemporary lecture halls and 
auditoriums, library, dining hall, John Portman-designed 
art gallery, bell tower, chapel and athletic facilities.  
The college also owns several residential homes 
adjacent to the campus that can be used as locations 
or as production offices.

Agnes Scott College has been the location 
for more than 20 feature films.
THE HISTORY OF FILMING 
AT AGNES SCOTT COLLEGE
Starting with “A Man Called Peter” in 1955, 50 
productions, including 20 major motion pictures 
have used Agnes Scott College as a filming location. 
Other notable films include “Scream 2,” which was 
considered the teenage movie of the late ’90s; “Fried 
Green Tomatoes,” an iconic Southern movie; “The 
Blind Side,” featuring Sandra Bullock as lead actress; 
“Confirmation,” the political drama about Anita Hill, 
starring Kerry Washington; “Life of the Party,” a 
college comedy featuring Melissa McCarthy; and “The 
Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” starring Oprah 
Winfrey. 
 Agnes Scott student interns had an exclusive 
opportunity to work on the Scream 2 production with 
some of Hollywood’s leading cast and crew. As many 
as 200 Agnes Scott students, faculty and staff were 
included as extras in the film.

Long known as the heart of the college, 
Main Hall is the building that Scotties 
recognize as a marker of home. She 
is the brick-and-mortar symbol of our 
alma mater, the soul of the Scottiehood, 
and the pulse of our future.
A classic example of High Victorian Gothic 
architecture, Main is visible across campus and from 
downtown Decatur. Her white marble columns, 
Romanesque arches and terra cotta accents make her 
easily recognizable as a beloved landmark. Her iconic 
bell tower rises to the sky, ringing out in celebration as 
Scotties commemorate milestones.
Constructed in 1891, Main Hall is the most historic 
building on campus and is central to Agnes Scott’s 
identity. Today, she is home to the president’s office 
and other administrative spaces, while her upper 
three floors accommodate student housing. Main 
has been home to many generations of Scotties, and 
this campaign will ensure that she will continue to be 
home for generations to come. As student enrollment 
continues to grow, Main’s restoration has become 
increasingly necessary and deeply urgent.

When she was built, Main Hall set new 
standards in building innovation. Citizens of 
Decatur would gather to see the electric lights, 
the first in the city, illuminate the landscape. 
Today, we aim to give our students a housing 
experience that prepares them to live and 
lead. Our work will enhance the staircases that 
open into wide, light-filled hallways and her 
large windows that frame spacious rooms. Her 
iconic bell tower will once again be fully open, 
with a new skylight so students and alumnae 
can see the bell ringing above them. We’ll also 
preserve the alumnae signatures, sprinkled like 
love notes across her tower, and create space 
for many more to come. The restored Main 
will join Rebekah Scott Hall as an accessible, 
innovative and sustainable building that 
further distinguishes the South Candler–Agnes 
Scott Historic District as a bridge between the 
past and the future.
