 With health and safety as our first priority, our ability to offer a residential, in-person  
educational experience hinges on the willingness of our campus community to come 
together in support of our collective health and safety. Each of us has a responsibility 
to know and act on these standards and policies in a way that maximizes a safe and 
healthy environment for us to teach, work, learn, and live.
To this end, there are community standards and policies for our employees, students, 
faculty, and visitors. We are all in this together, and we believe that together, we can 
face the challenges presented by COVID-19 with resilience, determination, and great 
support for our community. BE WELL, SCOTTIES!
PREVENT AND PROTECT
·    Understand how the COVID-19 virus spreads. The best way to prevent illness is to 
avoid being exposed to someone with the virus. According to the Centers for Disease 
Control and Prevention (CDC), the primary way the virus spreads is through  
respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. 
Research studies have demonstrated that COVID-19 may be spread by people who 
are not showing symptoms (asymptomatic). There is currently no vaccine available so 
understanding how to prevent infection, particularly for those with increased risk of 
complications, is critical.
·   Wash your hands often. Everyone should practice regular hand hygiene as advised by 
the CDC. Research continues to support that washing your hands with soap and water 
is one of the best ways to remove germs, avoid getting sick and prevent the spread of 
germs to others. Always wash your hands after you touch highly touched surfaces (such 
as doorknobs, elevator buttons and photo copiers) and avoid touching your face,  
especially after coming into contact with these highly touched surfaces. Hand hygiene is 
especially critical after sneezing or coughing, after using the bathroom, before and after 
eating and throughout the day. If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer 
with at least 60% to 90% alcohol as hand sanitizers are also effective at preventing the 
spread of germs. Also, wash your hands before and after handling a face mask or  
facial covering.
·    Practice physical distancing. Research has shown that transmission of COVID-19 can 
occur when individuals are asymptomatic. Outdoors, the best strategy is to put at least 
6 feet of distance between yourself and others whenever possible. If 6 feet distancing is 
not possible, it is essential that all individuals within a group of people be appropriately 
masked. Avoid gathering in large groups and avoid crowded spaces. 
·   Wear a face mask .Face masks must be worn in all classroom settings by students,  
faculty, staff, and visitors from entering the building to leaving the building and in indoor 
common spaces such as common building spaces and hallways. In dining halls, masks 
must be worn except when eating or drinking. Cloth masks or face coverings should be 
washed daily, and the fabric design or pattern should be appropriate for the classroom 
and the workplace.

·    Maintain clean, safe spaces. Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched  
surfaces you interact with and touch with CDC approved disinfectants. Cleaning and 
disinfecting supplies will be provided in each workplace, classroom, residence hall, 
dining facility and other campus facilities.
·   Engage in smaller group and virtual settings. Individuals and groups, including 
student and community organizations, should limit in-person programs, events and 
social gatherings to the number of individuals specified by national, state and local 
guidance. On-campus space reservations will be limited to those individuals and 
groups that abide by this guidance.
·   Follow immunization recommendations. Individuals are encouraged (and may be 
required) to remain current on their recommended immunizations.
·   Protect the community. Individuals with COVID-19 symptoms or knowledge  
of exposure should contact their medical provider and not report to work sites, 
classes or come to campus (unless your primary  residence is on-campus).
Provide medical return clearance. Students that receive a positive COVID-19 test 
should follow the guidelines from Wellness Center. 
CARE
·   Self-check for symptoms daily. Before leaving home for work or study each day, all 
individuals should check for symptoms using the COVID-19 screening checklist.  
Anyone who is experiencing any symptom(s) indicated on the screening checklist 
must not go to class or work and should contact their health care provider.
·   Seek medical care. Individuals with COVID-19 symptoms or knowledge of exposure 
should contact a health care professional.
·   Participate in medical monitoring and/or contact tracing. Individuals may be  
required to participate in self-monitoring of symptoms if identified as a potential 
close contact of a COVID-19 positive individual or if determined to be an  
asymptomatic COVID-19 positive person. Individuals may also be required to  
participate in testing and/or physical separation when recommended or required  
to do so by a medical provider or public health official.
·   Promote diversity, equity and inclusion. Create and sustain community and a sense 
of belonging where all feel welcomed and respected. 
·   Care for your physical and mental well-being. Get outside, exercise and take breaks 
regularly, and connect appropriately with family or friends. You should reach out 
for support if you or someone you know needs help coping or navigating concerns 
around mental health and well-being.
·  Connect across campus. Physical distancing should not mean social isolation.  
Seek opportunities to connect appropriately with small groups, student  
organizations and take advantage of the virtual programs and services that can  
keep you engaged as a Scottie!

WHAT IS THE HOLDER CHALLENGE? 
In response to the top priorities identified by the leadership of Agnes Scott College, the renovation of 
Agnes Scott “Main” Hall and sustaining the vital support for The Fund for Agnes Scott, which provides 
flexible funding for scholarships, academic instruction, student services and other core activities, Trustee 
Beth Holder ’82 has issued a $1 million fundraising challenge to alumnae, faculty, staff, students, parents 
and friends.
WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES? 
Trustee Beth Holder ’82 will give $1 million toward Main Hall’s renovation IF alumnae, parents, faculty, 
staff and friends raise $1 million for Main by making a gift or pledge AND a gift or pledge to The Fund for 
Agnes Scott equal to the amount of their Main gift or pledge (i.e., $500 for Main Hall renovation and 
$500 for The Fund for Agnes Scott) by June 31, 2021.
DO GIFTS AND PLEDGES TO MAIN HALL PRIOR TO THE LAUNCH OF THE HOLDER CHALLENGE COUNT? 
No. For those of you who have already given or pledged a gift to the Campaign for Main, we ask you to 
consider making an additional one-time gift over and above your existing commitment.
WHAT GIFTS DO COUNT TO THE CHALLENGE? 
This challenge is designed to motivate all constituents to participate in the restoration of Main Hall and to 
increase donor participation by making a gift to The Fund for Agnes Scott. So, only new gifts/pledges to 
Main Hall and The Fund for Agnes Scott made since the launch of the Holder Challenge or increased gifts/
pledges to Main Hall and The Fund for Agnes Scott count.
WILL PLEDGES COUNT, OR MUST THE CHALLENGE BE MET WITH CASH IN HAND? 
Pledges will count; however, your pledge must be confirmed in writing by June 31, 2021.
WILL MY GIFTS BE COUNTED TOWARD MY REUNION GIVING? 
Cash gifts, pledges and pledge payments made to Main Hall and The Fund to Agnes Scott by the reunion 
counting deadline (which is one week before Alumnae Weekend) will be included in the total giving for 
the trophy competition. For multiyear pledges, only the pledge payment(s) received during your reunion 
cycle will be counted.
CAN THE CHALLENGE APPLY TO GRANTING FOUNDATIONS AND CORPORATIONS? 
No. Our numbers of individual donors continue to decline each year, which we hope this challenge 
will help change. Although the decline among individual donors is a national trend among colleges 
and universities, we expect this challenge to help motivate alumnae to become first-time donors and 
reactivate those who have stopped giving.
DO MATCHING GIFTS COUNT?

and if it does, complete the process required to ensure your gifts are doubled.
WHEN DOES THE CHALLENGE END?  
The challenge officially ends June 31, 2021.

SCOTTIE SHUTTLE COVID-19 POLICY 
 
The Scottie Shuttle is a twenty-five passenger bus provided by the Center for Student 
Involvement for the Agnes Scott College community to aid in facilitating connections between 
students/faculty/staff and the greater Decatur/Atlanta area. All people utilizing the Scottie 
Shuttle have the right to expect a safe space and a reliable service. The shuttle is available for 
use to departments and student organizations as part of their efforts to create a vibrant social 
life. 
 
The Scottie Shuttle is FREE for Agnes Scott students only. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 
the Center for Disease Control (CDC) has recommended social distancing practices in order to 
stop the spread of the coronavirus. Agnes Scott College and the Scottie Shuttle will enforce the 
following policies and procedures in order to conform to this time of social distancing. 
 
Seats on the shuttle are available on a first-come, first-served basis to members of the Agnes 
Scott community only and will be limited to 10 riders per trip. You are asked to space yourselves 
as well as possible, and to refrain from touching other riders. In the event that capacity has been 
met, riders must sign the reservation sheet and return for the next trip. Guests are not permitted 
on the shuttle at any time. Drivers have the right to check for proper institution identificat ion 
to ensure all riders are students, faculty, or staff of Agnes Scott College. Food and drinks, except 
for water in closed containers, are not permitted on the bus. All riders and the driver must wear 
a face covering, preferably a cloth mask at all times. If you choose to wear gloves, do not remove 
them while on the shuttle. The driver will sanitize the interior of the bus between each trip. 
 
The shuttle leaves from the Main Loop at regularly scheduled intervals and returns to the Main 
Loop at specified times, unless communicated otherwise. If a rider misses the final shuttle back 
to campus, they are responsible for their transportation back to campus. The schedule and days 
of operation are determined by the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) using the input and 
feedback of students and the college community. During college closures, holidays, and breaks, 
the shuttle will not operate, unless communicated otherwise. The schedule will be sent to the 
community via email and posted on social media through the Center for Student Involvement. 
Real-time route information can be found by downloading the Passio Go app and selecting 
Agnes Scott College. Any suggestions for future locations should be emailed to 
csi@agnesscott.edu. 
 
Due to COVID-19, only essential trips will be scheduled on a limited schedule to limit the spread 
of the coronavirus. The full Scottie Usage Policy can be found on the Center for Student 
Involvement website at www.agnesscott.edu/csi. Policy effective June 1, 2020.
