Iacobus Gallus: Opus musicum IV/4. Harmoniae quatuor vocum / Psalmi omnibus sanctis triumphales

    No full text
From the very beginning, one of the most important and ambitious goals of the MAMS collection has been publication of the collected works of Iacobus Handl-Gallus in a modern transcription tailored to the needs of contemporary performers. The publication of his famous collection of motets, Opus musicum, consisting of four books containing a total of 374 motets, partially achieved this goal in 1990. The transcriptions and critical commentaries were prepared by Edo Škulj, and Gallus’s motets were published in thirteen volumes between 1985 and 1990. The edition is enriched by numerous facsimiles from Gallus’s original prints, published between 1586 and 1590 by the Prague printer Georg Nigrin (Jiří Černý). Gallus assigned the fourth book of his Opus musicum (1590) to feasts of the Virgin Mary, the Apostles, the Martyrs, the Witnesses and the Holy Virgins. Gallus arranged the motets not according to the chronological order of the church year, but according to the number of voices. The forth volume (IV/4) consists of 4-part motets for the feasts of the Mother of God and the Saints, plus, in conclusion, settings of four Triumphal Psalms, two of them for 24 voices distributed among four choirs. The 2024 digitized post-edition is accompanied by a new preface and an introductory study by Dr Marc Desmet that summarizes and compiles all recent findings about the composer and his work.

This book ('Environmental Archaeology and Palaeoecology: Palynology, Archaeobotany, Archaeozoology and Geoarchaeology') is based on the translation of the Slovenian book, entitled Okoljska arheologija in paleoekologija: palinologija, arheobotanika in arheozoologija ('Environmental Archaeology and Palaeoecology: Palynology, Archaeobotany and Archaeozoology', 2016), written by Maja Andrič, Tjaša Tolar and Borut Toškan (Institute of Archaeology, ZRC SAZU). In addition to the translation of the book published in 2016 to Croatian, the work is supplemented by additional chapters dealing with this research in Croatia, including geoarchaeology, which is not covered in the Slovenian version. This part of the book was completed by Katarina Gerometta from the Jurja Dobrila College, Faculty of Philosophy in Pula, and Siniša Radović from the Institute of Palaeontology and Geology of the Quarter, HAZU in Zagreb. The authors present the ways (i.e. methods) and results of research of past environment. Plant and animal remains and deposited sediments found at archaeological sites and in marsh and lake sediments are a good source of information about the way of life, economy, nutrition habits, the former environment and human adaptations to it in different archaeological periods. It is the first comprehensive book presenting the fields of palynology, archaeobotany, archaeozoology and geoarchaeology in Croatian language. Ta del knjige sta izpopolnila Katarina Gerometta s Sveučilišta Jurja Dobrile Filozofske fakultete v Puli in Siniša Radović z Zavoda za paleontologiju i geologiju kvartara HAZU v Zagrebu.

Dva pramena slovenske besedne umetnosti. Prepletanje slovstvene folklore in literature od antike do današnjih dni

Most of the credit for the independence of literary folkloristics belongs to experts from the Nordic countries. The desired goal of the diachronic "Finnish school" (Krohn), i.e., classical "folkloristic working methods" (Oslo, 1926), were studies on the origin, spread and transformation of folklore motifs in the largest possible temporal and spatial dimensions, with as much comparative material as possible. Immediately behind it, structuralist debates (Propp, Jolles, Bogatyrev and Jakobson et al.), which were synchronistically conceived, are connected by a striving for the independence and equivalence of the system, which, in contrast to the system of literature, is here called literary folklore. Čistov significantly supplemented it with the theory of communication, Lihačov, Mukařovski, Lotman provided it with a place in aesthetics with the poetics of the artistic time, the categories of aesthetic value, aesthetic norm, aesthetic function and the aesthetics of opposition cultivated by literature, as opposed to the aesthetics of similarity contained in folklore. The present work examines the outlined elements on Slovenian material by presenting each literary period or its current with at least one chapter, thereby inviting consideration of a revaluation of literary folklore as a branch of verbal art that has accompanied man since the beginning of language. After the invention of writing, it became the art of dialects and spoken language up to the present day, in both rural and urban environments. At least it is no longer possible to disguise what fertile earth it has been for the development of Slovenian literature since its inception. Zaželeni cilj diahrone "finske šole" (Krohn), tj. klasične »folkloristične delovne metode« (Oslo, 1926) so bile študije o izvoru, širjenju in preoblikovanju folklornih motivov v kar največjih časovnih in prostorskih razsežnostih s čim več primerjalnega gradiva.

Settlement of the Eastern Alps in the Early Middle Ages

    No full text
A book is an edited volume with eight authors contributing nine chapters in total, each covering different aspects of the subject. It is the culmination of extensive research endeavours into the Early Medieval archaeology of the Eastern Alps, synthesising the collaborative efforts of four research projects with scholars from two countries over several years. The focus is on an area on the eastern fringes of the Alps, which lies in present-day Slovenia and parts of Austria. The three micro-regional studies are located near Bled (Slovenia), in the Drava Plain (Slovenia) and in the Leibnitzer Feld (Austria). The case study chapters focus on Upper Styria, also known as Austrian Styria. Thematically, the book is divided into three parts. While the length of individual chapters varies, the three parts are as balanced as possible given the subject matter. The first part consists of a relevant methodological introduction followed by three microregional studies and a chapter that looks for common features of these studies and builds on the results. The second part consists of an extensive contribution by a single author who analyses the Eastern Alps as an archaeological region, again with the methodological introduction. The third part presents an extremely detailed analysis of Austrian Styria in Late Antiquity and Early Medieval period. We are confident that the content of the book promises to be an indispensable resource for scholars and enthusiasts alike, offering fresh perspectives on the Early Medieval period through a blend of archaeological evidence and environmental analysis.V knjigi (Poselitev Vzhodnih Alp v zgodnjem srednjem veku) osem avtorjev v devetih poglavjih pokriva različne vidike téme. Tretji del predstavlja podrobno analizo avstrijske Štajerske v pozni antiki in zgodnjem srednjem veku. Verjamemo, da vsebina knjige obeta, da bo postala nepogrešljiv vir za znanstvenike in navdušence, saj ponuja sveže poglede na zgodnji srednji vek skozi preplet arheoloških dokazov in analize okolja. Za zidovi. Zaprte meje kot nevarnost za odprto družbo

At a time when the external borders of Europe and the entire West are being reinforced more than ever, and the inhabitants of the Global South are being reduced to less than nothing, any theoretical intervention that disrupts this hardened consensus is especially welcome. Heins and Wolff, on the one hand, provide a wealth of empirical material — particularly valuable are their insights into the (para-)agency Frontex — and, on the other, return to fundamental reflections on the effects of enclosure on the internal dynamics of society. A society that closes itself off is, of course, no longer open; however, this does not necessarily mean it is simply closed, tyrannical, and restrictive. The transformation produced by obsessive enclosure from the outside is much more complex, far more elusive, and, in the long run, significantly more dangerous. Some may believe they know what awaits us at the end of this path. But if the process continues in the direction in which political and fabricated popular consensus wishes to push us, the final destination will be so foreign and inhospitable that we, too, will wish to flee.V času, ko se bolj kot kdaj prej utrjujejo zunanje meje Evrope in celotnega Zahoda, prebivalci globalnega Juga pa so reducirani na manj kot nič, je vsaka teoretska intervencija, ki zareže v ta do konca strjeni konsenz, izjemno dobrodošla.

Druga knjiga

The historical source, the manuscript collection of Slovenian place names from Metelko’s Legacy, which is kept by the Slovenian National and University Library, has been published in two volumes. The first volume contains the transcription and translation of the German-Slovene lists of 3,178 place names from Upper Carniola, Lower Carniola and the Villach department of Carinthia from 1823, compiled by district clerks. The material is supplemented by a bilingual list of 446 place names, including towns, market towns, parishes, vicariates, local chaplaincies and the names of seigneuries, estates, small seigneuries, manors, castles and monasteries, all of which Metelko recorded in a small notebook. Volume 2 contains the localization of places and their identification with modern name forms, as well as a linguistic commentary on the name forms attested in the clerks’ lists and Metelko’s notebook, with references to older and more recent historical records. The names are arranged by seigneuries in the same order as in the original manuscript and are presented in four parallel columns: the modern Slovenian form, the genitive form, the Slovenian form from Metelko’s material, and the historical German form. For easier orientation within the name material, the book is accompanied by a comprehensive name index. The volume also includes Metelko’s additional instructions for recording the genitive forms of Slovenian place names. Druga knjiga vsebuje lokalizacijo krajev in identifikacijo s sodobnimi imenskimi oblikami ter jezikoslovni komentar imenskih oblik, izpričanih v pisarskih seznamih in v Metelkovem zvežčiču, z navedbo starejših in mlajših historičnih zapisov.

    Zakulisje evropskih projektov

What is happening behind the scenes of European projects? This book ('The Backstage of European Projects') peels back the curtain, exposing invisible project practices, tacit agreements, unwritten rules, unusual rituals, and the mysterious project language. It elucidates the dynamics within the project "family" from a fresh perspective, presenting the modes of cooperation and management pivotal in determining the success or failure of research & development projects. This book will invite some readers to start thinking critically about their own and others' project practices. Others might feel exposed, while some will simply dismiss it, claiming that their project is different and better. Regardless, the book will take readers into the projects’ backstage, unveiling activities that are typically not discussed in public, yet significantly influence acquisition of projects and shape their trajectories. Perhaps most importantly, the author of this book not only possesses an anthropological insight into the subject but is also a project manager with extensive experience in managing projects. Consequently, the book merges theoretical understanding with practical expertise, catering to those seeking to enhance their academic understanding as well as those interested in applying for, obtaining, and successfully implementing European projects.Kaj se skriva v zakulisju evropskih projektov? Knjiga odgrne zastor in razkrije nevidne projektne prakse, tihe dogovore, nepisana pravila, nenavadne obrede in skrivnostno projektno govorico.

The ePravopis 2022 orthographic dictionary is the corresponding dictionary of the Slovenian normative guide; it includes lexicon from the Slovenian language corpora which explains the normative rules and also provides additional examples. Main entries belonging to the same orthographic rule are linked to the corresponding orthographic category and are presented in the Pravopisne kategorije ePravopisa (Orthographic Categories of ePravopis) which currently includes 91 categories. The dictionary mainly provides information on the problem areas of the expressive language level, especially regarding notation, use of capital letters, writing together or apart, inflection, and phrases. 764 new dictionary entries were added to the existing dictionary. All dictionary entries (currently, there are 8964 published dictionary entries) contain information on inflection; with regard to orthoepy, information on pronunciation was added to the entries. The 2022 edition of ePravopis focuses on geographic names, especially the illustrations taken from the chapter “Capitalization”. Non-settlement names, names of cities, names of regions and names of structures are included. These are the categories that cause problems for users because of notation, the formation of adjectives and demonyms, or the use of prepositions. Proper names for treaties, declarations, etc., translated and adapted into Slovenian have also been included for examples that could lead to confusion about the official name. The personal proper names are mostly illustrations taken from the guidelines for borrowing from Italian or the chapter “Borrowing Guidelines”.Slovarski del pravopisa prinaša besedje, ki gradivsko ponazarja in deloma razširja pravopisna pravila. To so osebna lastna imena, zemljepisna lastna imena (med njimi nekrajevna imena, imena krajev, pokrajin in imena objektov) in stvarna lastna imena.
