Iacobus Gallus: Selectiores quaedam missae, Liber III
From the very beginning, one of the most important and ambitious goals of the MAMS collection has been publication of the collected works of Iacobus Handl-Gallus in a modern transcription tailored to the needs of contemporary performers. After the publication of his famous collection of motets, Opus musicum, in thirteen volumes (1985–1990), Edo Škulj edited a four-volume edition of Gallus’s masses in 1991. The edition is enriched by facsimiles from Gallus’s original collection, Selectiores quaedam missae, published in 1580 by the Prague printer Georg Nigrin (Jiří Černý).
Gallus divided his Missarum into four books. The third book (Liber III) contains four 5-part settings of the Mass Ordinary.
The 2025 digitized post-edition is accompanied by a new preface and an introductory study by Dr Marc Desmet that summarizes and compiles all recent findings about the composer and his work.Med glavne in najambicioznejše cilje zbirke MAMS je že od vsega začetka sodila izdaja zbranih del Iacobusa Handla - Gallusa v sodobni transkripciji, prilagojeni zahtevam sodobnega izvajalca. Po objavi Gallusovih motetov (Opus musicum) v trinajstih zvezkih (1985–1990) je urednik Edo Škulj leta 1991 pripravil izdajo Gallusovih maš v štirih zvezkih. Izdajo bogatijo faksimili iz Gallusovega izvirnega tiska, ki ga je leta 1580 z naslovom Selectiores quaedam missae objavil praški tiskar Georg Nigrin (Jiří Černý).
Gallus je zbirko maš razdelil v štiri knjige. Tretja knjiga vsebuje štiri petglasne uglasbitve mašnega ordinarija.
Digitalizirana poizdaja iz leta 2025 je opremljena z novim predgovorom in uvodno študijo dr. Marca Desmeta, ki na enem mestu povzema vsa nedavna spoznanja o skladatelju in njegovem delu

The monograph deals with Baron Sigmund Zois (1747‒1819) as a central figure of the last two decades of the eighteenth and the first two decades of the nineteenth century in the Duchy of Carniola and in the Slovenian lands. Its purpose is not to comprehensively capture all dimensions of Zois’s life and work, but to present the latest research in this field and thus stimulate new research, since archival sources are far from exhausted. The authors of the monograph deal with Zois’s Enlightenment, poetry and linguistics, his accomplishments for the development of the Slovenian language in the Illyrian Provinces and the Habsburg Monarchy, his geological activities, library, palace in Breg in Ljubljana, gardens in Ljubljana and Brdo pri Kranju, preserved personal objects, as well as the musical activities, cultural patronage and iron foundries of the Zois family. Studies confirm that Zois’s efforts made a permanent contribution to the development of science and art in Carniola and significantly accelerated the development of Slovenians into a modern European nation.
Co-publisher Slovensko društvo za preučevanje 18. stoletja.Monografija se vrača k baronu Žigi Zoisu (1747‒1819) kot osrednji osebnosti zadnjih dveh desetletij 18. in prvih dveh desetletij 19. stoletja v vojvodini Kranjski in na Slovenskem. Njen namen ni, da pregledno zajame vse razsežnosti Zoisovega življenja in dela, ampak da predstavi zadnje raziskave na tem področju in tako spodbudi nove, saj arhivski viri še zdaleč niso izčrpani. Avtorji prispevkov v monografiji obravnavajo Zoisovo razsvetljenstvo, pesništvo in jezikoslovje, prizadevanja za razvoj slovenskega jezika v Ilirskih provincah in habsburški monarhiji, ukvarjanje z geologijo, zbiranje knjig, urejanje palače na Bregu in vrtov v Ljubljani in na Brdu pri Kranju, ohranjeno materialno dediščino, prav tako pa glasbeno ustvarjalnost, kulturno mecenstvo in fužinarsko dejavnost družine Zois. Študije potrjujejo, da so Zoisova prizadevanja trajno prispevala k razvoju znanosti in umetnosti na Kranjskem ter bistveno pospešila razvoj Slovencev v moderen evropski narod.

Iacobus Gallus: V rokopisu ohranjene skladbe / Compositions Preserved in Manuscript
By editing a volume of compositions from manuscript sources, the MAMS collection achieved one of its most important and ambitious goals in 1996. The publication of the volume Compostions Preserved in Manuscript, edited by Edo Škulj, completed the publication of the collected works of Iacobus Handl-Gallus in a modern transcription tailored to the needs of contemporary performers.
The volume contains four settings of all or individual movements of the Mass Ordinary as well as four motets. Gallus’s authorship of the compositions remains uncertain.

Z objavo zvezka V rokopisu ohranjene skladbe v transkripcijah Eda Škulja se je leta 1996 zaključila izdaja zbranih del Iacobusa Handla - Gallusa v sodobni transkripciji, prilagojeni zahtevam sodobnega izvajalca.
Zvezek vsebuje štiri uglasbitve vseh ali posamičnih stavkov mašnega ordinarija in štiri motete. Gallusovo avtorstvo skladb je negotovo.

Helena Ložar Podlogar’s Raziskovanje izročila: Izbrani etnološki spisi 2 ('Researching Tradition: Selected Ethnological Writings 2') builds on her first volume, Sledi in podobe izročila (2024), exploring Slovenian folk traditions through historical, methodological, and institutional lenses. Across ten texts, it analyzes contributions from ethnologists like Urban Jarnik, Anton Trstenjak, Hinko Smrekar, Josip Šašel, Rajko Ložar, Pavle Zablatnik, and Niko Kuret. Key works include The Austro-Hungarian Monarchy in Word and Image and Narodopisje Slovencev (1944), the first comprehensive Slovenian ethnography, published during wartime as a testament to Slovenian identity against German claims (Oberkrain, 1942). The final paper details the Institute of Slovenian Ethnography’s Section for Folk Customs and Games, where Ložar Podlogar worked for over 30 years. Chronologically arranged, the texts reveal methodological frameworks and ideological contexts of ethnological research since the 19th century. The appendix reflects on Fran Saleški Finžgar’s Gostač Matevž (1954), depicting Upper Carniolan village life, and includes Ložar Podlogar’s 1961 high school paper on the Novo Mesto Reading Room, showcasing her early scholarly rigor.
Together with the monographs V adventu snubiti (1995), Sledi in podobe izročila (2024), and her work on encyclopedia units, this work forms the core of Helena Ložar Podlogar’s contributions to Slovenian ethnology, collectively forming the backbone of her legacy in the field, highlighting her comprehensive approach to documenting and understanding folk traditions.V delu Raziskovanje izročila: Izbrani etnološki spisi 2 Helene Ložar Podlogar analizira prispevke raziskovalcev ljudskega izročila, od Urbana Jarnika, Antona Trstenjaka, Hinka Smrekarja, Josipa Šašla, Rajka Ložarja, Pavleta Zablatnika vse do Nika Kureta. Kritično predstavi pisce besedil v seriji Avstro-ogrska monarhija v besedi in podobi ter nastajanje Narodopisja Slovencev (1944, 1952), prve celovite slovenske etnografije, izdane med vojno kot dokaz slovenske identitete proti nemškim zahtevam (Oberkrain, 1942). V zadnjem besedilu podrobno opisuje Sekcijo za ljudske šege in igre na Inštitutu za slovensko narodopisje, kjer je raziskovalka delala več kot 30 let. Kronološko razporejena besedila razkrivajo metodološke okvire in ideološke kontekste etnoloških raziskav od 19. stoletja dalje. Slovar časa. 300 besed za 300 tednov. Besede tedna iz časnika Delo 2019–2025
The book ('The Dictionary of Time: 300 Words for 300 Weeks') was created based on the Word of the Week column (Beseda tedna), which has been since 2019 appearing weekly in the newspaper Delo. The column is authored by researchers from the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovenian Language, the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Contributions have been made by 47 experts from the central institution for Slovene language research, home to the iconic Dictionary of Standard Slovenian Language, as well as the dictionary portals Fran, Franja, and Franček, along with orthographic, dialectological, terminological, etymological, and other research work.
The Dictionary of Time connects researchers, users, and the language community. The word descriptions in the book combine scientific accuracy with the personal writing styles of the authors. The monograph thus presents a document of the times – an image of the Slovene language between 2019 and 2025 – and simultaneously reflects contemporary linguistic phenomena and social changes through 300 carefully selected words.
Published on the occasion of the institute's eightieth anniversary, the book combines the original word descriptions with several accompanying texts containing diverse and interesting information. It also offers brief explanations of important lexicographic terms, alongside a concise history of the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovenian Language, an introduction to lexicography, and an outline of the history of Slovenian dictionaries, grammars, and orthographies.Slovar časa: 300 besed za 300 tednov je nastal na podlagi rubrike Beseda tedna, ki jo sodelavci Inštituta za slovenski jezik Frana Ramovša ZRC SAZU od leta 2019 objavljajo v časopisu Delo. Prispevke o aktualnih besedah je soustvarilo kar 47 strokovnjakov iz osrednje ustanove za raziskovanje in spremljanje slovenskega jezika, kjer nastajajo Slovar slovenskega knjižnega jezika, portali Fran, Franja, Franček, pravopisna, dialektološka, terminološka, etimološka in druga dela.
Slovar časa povezuje raziskovalce, uporabnike in jezikovno skupnost. Besedni sestavki združujejo znanstveno natančnost z osebnim slogom avtorjev. Monografija tako prinaša dokument časa – podobo slovenskega jezika v obdobju 2019–2025 – in hkrati refleksijo sodobnih jezikovnih pojavov ter družbenih sprememb, zaznanih skozi 300 izbranih besed.
Knjiga je izšla ob osemdesetletnici inštituta in združuje izvirne opise besed z bogatimi spremnimi besedili z zanimivimi podatki. Historična topografija Kranjske (do 1500). Tretja dopolnjena izdaja
The first volume in the new series of historical-topographical handbooks covers the territory of the Duchy of Carniola up to the year 1500. It includes 4,152 Carniolan toponyms—villages, hamlets, market towns, cities, castles, manors, field and water names, and others—along with their historical variants as attested in sources up to 1500 (such as charters, urbaria, feudal, accounting, notarial, and cartulary records). The entries are arranged alphabetically, and each historical form of a name is accompanied by the date of its attestation, a reference to the source in which it appears, the location of the source (archive, library, etc.), and, when applicable, its publication reference. The corpus as a whole contains over 39,221 historical variants of Carniolan geographical names (paleonyms).
The work is based on 123 documented charter collections from 62 archives and over 370 codices and manuscripts from Slovenian, Austrian, Italian, Croatian, Hungarian, German, and Czech archives and libraries.
Together with an accompanying online application linked to a digital map (http://topografija.zrc-sazu.si/), the handbook will be of great interest not only to specialists in various disciplines (historians, geographers, archaeologists, ethnologists, linguists, etc.) but also to local historians and history enthusiasts.V prvi knjigi iz serije historično-topografskih priročnikov je obravnavano ozemlje dežele Kranjske do leta 1500. V obravnavo je zajetih 4152 kranjskih toponimov (vasi, zaselkov, trgov, mest, gradov, dvorcev, ledinskih in vodnih imen idr.) z nekdanjimi variantami njihovih imen, kot jih zasledimo v virih do leta 1500 (listine, urbarji, fevdne, računske, notarske, kopialne knjige ipd.). Gesla so urejena po abecednem zaporedju in vsak zapis starega imena je opremljen z datumom, navedbo vira, v katerem ga zasledimo, nahajališčem vira (arhiv, knjižnica ipd.) ter eventualno objavo vira (publicirane zbirke). Celoten korpus zajema več kot 39.221 nekdanjih variant zemljepisnih imen Kranjske (paleonimov).
Delo temelji na 123 evidentiranih zbirkah listin iz 62 različnih arhivov in več kot 370 kodeksih ter spisih iz slovenskih, avstrijskih, italijanskih, hrvaških, madžarskih, nemških in čeških arhivov ter knjižnic.

Plesna dediščina. Soustvarjanje participativnih plesnih dogodkov – Priročnik
Over the course of the project Dance as ICH: New models of facilitating participatory dance events (Dance–ICH), we have journeyed across Europe — from Norway and Belgium to Slovenia, Romania, Hungary, Greece, — engaging with a rich diversity of dance traditions, communities, and practices. This initiative has not only brought together cultural heritage institutions, researchers, and artists, but most importantly, it has fostered deep collaborations with communities, inviting them to become co-creators in the safeguarding process.
In this toolbox we discuss and draws six different paintings of why and how museums and cultural heritage institutions should play a part in future sustainable structures for safeguarding dance as living heritage.
This sustainable structure called events of practice exhibition should therefore encompass more than the events themselves. Firstly, these events should be recurrent and embedded in a permanent space. Secondly, they should entail a facilitator in the role of a supporter, in line with the principles for adaptive management to ensure long-term viability, and recognition of value. A cultural institution and its living heritage facilitators can help the dance community by promoting and incorporating their practices into an organizational system, without interfering with the execution of the intangible heritage practices itself. For future and continuing research, it will be obviously important to research these methods over time, in different contexts, and to question the distribution of roles in co-creative processes and the sustainable structures when it comes to funding and resources.
The publication is a Slovenian translation of the manual, originally titled Dancing Heritages: Co-creating Events of Practice – Handbook.V okviru projekta Ples kot nesnovna kulturna dediščina: Novi modeli omogočanja participativnih plesnih dogodkov (Dance – ICH) nas je pot zanesla čez velik del Evrope (od Norveške in Belgije do Slovenije, Romunije, Madžarske in Grčije), na njej pa smo se seznanili z izjemno pestrostjo plesnih tradicij, skupnosti in praks. Ta pobuda ni povezala zgolj kulturnodediščinskih institucij, raziskovalcev in umetnikov. V prvi vrsti je spodbudila tesno sodelovanje s skupnostmi, ki smo jih povabili k soustvarjanju procesa ohranjanja dediščine.
Koncept razstave s participativnim plesnim dogodkom prepleta plesne vsebine, razstavne elemente, kurirane dogodke in participativne plesne dogodke ter povezuje plesne skupnosti, obiskovalce in muzejske strokovnjake. Za doseganje trajnostnega cilja, tj. ohranjanje plesa v muzejskem prostoru, je treba vse te koščke mozaika premišljeno uskladiti. Ta priročnik na vzorcu šestih razstav in študij primerov ponazarja, kako je koncept razstave s participativnim plesnim dogodkom plesnim skupnostim pomagal pri nadaljevanju njihovih praks, predvsem z ustvarjanjem novih priložnosti za prenos plesne dediščine in njeno večjo prepoznavnost.

Sustaining Traditional Dance as Intangible Cultural Heritage
This monograph presents new research on sustaining traditional dance as intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in Europe. Developed primarily within the EU Creative Europe project Dance as ICH: New Models of Facilitating Participatory Dance Events, the contributions examine key examples from Belgium, Greece, Hungary, Norway, Romania and Slovenia. The authors explore diverse strategies, dynamics, and responses that emerge when local dance communities, heritage-focused institutions, and the general public seek to assure the vitality of traditional dance practices as intangible cultural heritage. In doing so, they raise essential questions about value, responsibility, and best practices in safeguarding, transmitting, and engaging with dance as heritage in contemporary contexts.Monografija predstavlja nova raziskovalna dognanja o ohranjanju plesnega izročila kot nesnovne kulturne dediščine v Evropi. Raziskave, nastale predvsem v okviru EU projekta Dance-ICH: Ples kot nesnovna kulturna dediščina: Novi modeli omogočanja participativnih plesnih dogodkov, obravnavajo ključne primere iz Belgije, Grčije, Madžarske, Norveške, Romunije in Slovenije. Izbrana dela iz Hrenovih kornih knjig 3 / Selected Works from the Hren Choirbooks 3. Tri maše / Three Masses
This third volume of the selected musical pieces from the Hren choirbooks presents three settings of the Ordinary by Simone Gatto (c. 1545/50–1594/95), a Venetian musician active at the Inner-Austrian archducal court in Graz: a Missa Aller mi fault, a Missa Stabunt justi and a Missa Andra la nave mia. All three Masses are of the parody or imitation type, each derived from a pre-existing polyphonic composition. Specifically, Adrian Willaert’s five-part chanson Aller m’y faut sur la verdure and Orlando di Lasso’s five-part motet Stabunt justi serve as the models for two of the Masses, while the source for the third Mass remains unidentified. These compositions reflect the changing aesthetic preferences of the period, characterized by a heightened emphasis on colour contrast and word-painting. The Missa Andra la nave mia further exemplifies the increasing esteem for polychoral music at the Graz court towards the close of the sixteenth century, illustrating the growing influence of double-choir music in Inner Austria during this time. Gatto’s craftsmanship clearly marks out these three Masses as the product of an experienced composer.V tretjem zvezku izbranih del iz Hrenovih kornih knjig so objavljene tri uglasbitve mašnega ordinarija skladatelja Simoneja Gatta (ok. 1545/50–1594/95), beneškega glasbenika, ki je deloval na notranjeavstrijskem nadvojvodskem dvoru v Gradcu: Missa Aller mi fault, Missa Stabunt justi in Missa Andra la nave mia. Vse tri maše pripadajo tipu t. i. parodične maše. Za osnovo dveh maš je skladatelj uporabil petglasno šansono Aller m’y faut sur la verdure Adriana Willaerta oz. petglasni motet Stabunt justi Orlanda di Lassa, medtem ko model za tretjo mašo ni znan. Te skladbe razkrivajo spremembe v okusu tistega časa spričo poudarjene zvočne barvitosti in slikanja besed. Missa Andra la nave mia nadalje priča o tem, da je bila večzborska glasba na graškem dvoru proti koncu 16. stoletja vse bolj cenjena in ponazarja vse večji vpliv dvozborske glasbe v Notranji Avstriji v tem času. Vse tri maše se spričo Gattove skladateljske spretnosti jasno kažejo kot plod izkušenega skladatelja
