    The Dynamics of Industrialization in Dangdut Music Culture on Television with CDA Concept

    Konsep CDA (Critical Discourse Analyse) atau analisis wacana kritis merupakan konsep meneropong gejala budaya yang merujuk pada tradisi komunikasi kritis. Dengan menggabungkan konsep CDA dan media televisi sebagai sebuah media kajian baru dalam lingkup analisis wacana, diharapkan mampu membongkar isu-isu kontemporer yang melibatkan  komunikasi dan  budaya . Penelitian ini bertujuan menilik perjalanan budaya musik dangdut yang terdistorsi menjadi sebuah industrialisasi budaya akibat ekonomi dan politik media televisi. Menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara mendalam dan kajian literasi pustaka, peneliti mendapati bahwa budaya musik dangdut menjadi lebih dari sekedar mengenalkan musik dangdut ke khalayak luas. Musik dangdut telah berubah menjadi sebuah gaya baru yang dapat mengubah lifestyle dan mempengaruhi penikmatnya dari sisi selera bermusik, berpakaian, tontonan, komunitas dan potensi ekonomi lainya. Lebih jauh penelitian ini menemukan sisi politik dan ekonomi musik dangdut yang termediasi televisi serta memunculkan fenomena transformasi musik dangdut kontemporer

    PANCARAGAM AS AN ALTERNATIVE OF CULTURAL MUSIC CULTURE IN PAUAH AND KURANJI PADANG REGIONS

    Celebratory music has become a tradition in society. Almost all regions in Nusantara have a form and kind of music that used as a procession, whether in a wedding or other cultural ceremony. In Minangkabau, celebratory music as a tradition is taking a kind of music named Talempong Pacik, using talempong, sarunai, pupuik batang padi, gendang sarunani, and gendang tambua. In Pauah and Kuranji, celebratory music is also has a function as entertainment music that develops in the society called Pancaragam. The presence of this music is background by military ceremony music and then developed into entertainment music as well as being used as a procession music using conventional brass instruments such as trumpets, saxophone, and trombone also percussion instruments such as cymbal, snare drum, and bass drum. The presence of Pancaragam music in Pauah and Kuranji has give manifest function or real function, objective consequences that gave contribution in adjustment or adaptation of the system that desired and realized by the participants of the system. The existence of Pancaragam as an alternative for society is used in ceremony and serves as entertainment in wedding ceremony. Until now, Pancaragam is still used by the society in Pauah and Kuranji as an alternative ceremony music culture and also as an entertainment in wedding ceremony

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan,. sekaligus menemukan model penciptaan teater kontemporer Minangkabau yang bertolak pada ide/gagasam yang berpusat pada ota lapau. Fenomena ota lapau merupakan salah satu potensi budaya yang tetap bertahan sampai sekarang di Minangkabau. Kekuatan improvisasi dan kemampuan dalam mewujudkan akting melalui cara bercerita yang lahir secara spontan dalam merespons persoalan-persoalan seperti nilai-nilai keagamaan, pergaulan, situasi ekonomi, fenomena politik, seni dan budaya, bahkan pengetahuan tentang adat istiadat berbaur menjadi satu sebagai wujud tematik cerita yang dibangun di dalam lapau. Data yang digunakan di dalam penelitian ini berpusat pada data kualitatif, yaitu data observasi, dokumentasi, termasuk juga data wawancara. Dari masing-masing data tersebut dielaborasi, sehingga menemukan berbagai ragam istilah yang berkemungkinan dapat digunakan di dalam praktik penciptaan teater kontemporer di Sumatera Barat, berpusat pada ide penggarapan ota lapau.

    Watu Pinawetengan is a program music that attempts to render an extra-musical narrative musically which material comes from the Minahasa folklore about the Watu Pinawetengan mandate. The story is about negotiations in dividing agricultural territories to reduce conflicts due to land grabs. The existence of the values of deliberation, tolerance, and the spirit of unity are the reasons this story was appointed as a musical composition. So it is necessary to find relevant musical ideas to realize this composition. The process of creation begins by assigning extramusical material. This is done by gathering information and developing ideas about the plot. After that the musical elements are arranged based on the existing extramusical material. Minahasa ethnic music idioms such as scales, ornaments, and intervals are used to present the Minahasa ethnic atmosphere. Whereas Western diatonic music idioms help to create supporting atmosphere such as conflict, tension, concern, joy, and the spirit of unity

    RECOMBINATION OF MINANGKABAU TRADITIONAL ARTS IN ALAM TAKAMBANG JADI BATU BY KOMUNITAS SENI NAN TUMPAH

    This study aims to find out how the exploration of Minangkabau traditional art carried out by the Nan Tumpah Art Community (KSNT) in the Alam Takambang Jadi Batu by Mahatma Muhammad. KSNT is an art group from Padangpariaman which has a tendency to utilize Minangkabau traditional art as its artistic material. In efforts to explore the Minangkabau traditional art in the work of Alam Takambang Jadi Batu, the research method used is a qualitative method with an interpretive descriptive approach. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded, KSNT utilizes and processes Minangkabau traditional arts, such as Randai, Indang and Tupai Janjang. The conclusion obtained from this research is that KSNT utilizes traditional art as an effort to revitalize traditional arts for modern aesthetic needs. KSNT calls this traditional art exploration process a "recombination of traditional art"

    Galogandang women have the ability to create traditional ceramic art. Their  creativity  gave birth to a traditional ceramic form that had an impact on traditional women in relation to art. In this case, the presence of creative women in Galogandang gave birth to innovative traditional ceramics.   Traditional ceramic art was created in the form of pottery such as belango, pot, tirih pot, mengu, kumbuak, pot sigulamine, rosewater container, borasan, teapot, cauldron, kawa holder, miniature traditional house, giriak pot, pancake place, bika pot, tenpat water, incense sticks, carano pottery, miniature legged pan, glass, piggy bank, ashtray and so on. The problem formulated in this research is to explain the creativity of Galogandang women in developing the ceramic crafts to demonstrate their independence. This study uses a qualitative research method with descriptive analysis. In the end, the position of traditional women in their relationship with art is one of the spearheads in cultivating traditional arts and at the same time preserving pottery culture in Galogandan

    Artikel ini membahas perihal kreatifitas dalam proses pemindahan bentuk dari relief di kompleks candi Prambanan di Jawa Tengah ke dalam bentuk sendratari masa kini berjudul Sendratari Ramayana. Proses yang belakangan banyak disebut sebagai ‘alih wahana’ tersebut, dibahas dengan terlebih dahulu menguraikan perihal hal-hal yang menjadi konsep dari ‘alih wahana,’ yang dilanjutkan dengan melihat perbandingan antara Sendratari Ramayana dengan relief di Candi Prambanan. Berdasarkan perbandingan tersebut, ditemukan ciri-ciri dari adanya kreatifitas, yang dalam hal ini dihubungkan dengan adanya usaha menyusun tanda-tanda dalam pementasan, yang selanjutnya dibaca dengan semiotika tari

    Advertisement is an art that persuade people to look at it and to get engage as well as be a part of them. There are hidden pleasures in the advertisement that fails to be identified by the costumers that will attract them as they are not aware of it. The purpose of this study is to identify the ‘hidden pleasures” in the Seagram’s advertisement  as it aims to seek an answer to these questions: (1). What are the ‘hidden pleasures’(as written) in the Seagram’s advertisement by using semiotic analysis/approach (2).  How can these advertisements persuade the viewer? (3). To what group of people does this ad aims at? (target at socio-economic level). Findings are discuss in the paper.

    Bujang Gadih is the main character in the Teluk Kuantan Randai show. Bujang Gadih is a man who plays like a woman with the Bertold Brecht hich is entertaining and educational. The role of Bujang Gadih in the show Randai Teluk Kuantan become Randai identity in the Teluk Kuantan even all regions of Riau Province. This shows that the social transformation that occurred in the Teluk Kuantan  community has constructed a Randai in accordance with the culture that is formed. This article aims to discuss the social transformation that forms Bujang Gadih as the main character in the Teluk Kuantan  Randai show, so Bujang Gadih becomes its own identity in Randai in Teluk Kuantan. This study uses a qualitative method that is passed through observation, interviews, data analysis and documentation on the object of research and those related to the object. Research result Bujang Gadih in Randai Teluk Kuantan is a representation of social transformation that makes the identity of one of the arts of the Teluk Kuantan namely, Randai Teluk Kuantan

    Multi Orientation Footing In Digital Collage Artwork

    The phenomenon of singularity in the direction of the footing has used in realizing this concept. The technique used is digital collage basically built a structure that is binary opposition that is top-down opposition where the bottom area has always been a foothold orientation. The existence of this phenomenon can not be separated from the influence of causal law (cause and effect) the gravitational force of the earth which basically causes all objects to have a uniform footing direction, which ultimately also affects human perception in representing images (photographs, paintings, drawings, etc.). This phenomenon of unity of foothold leads to the concept of "multi-orientation foothold" in the creation of digital collage art, which seeks to get out of the rule of unity of foothold while simultaneously undermining the top-down structure of the image. Deconstruction becomes the foundation using photo media with JPEG format. The method used refers to the five stages of creativity from David Campbell (1986: 18-24), namely: 1) Preparation Phase, 2) Concentration, 3) Incubation, 4) Illumination, and 5) Verification / production
