Maldonite (Au2Bi) from hydrothermal U-As mineralization near Henclová (Spišsko-gemerské rudohorie Mts., Western Carpathians): the first occurrence in Slovakia

    No full text
In: Bulletin Mineralogie Petrologie. Praha : Mgr. Jiří Sejkora, 2024. ISSN 2570-7337. Vol. 32, no. 1 (2024), pp. 61-67.In Slovakia, maldonite was identified in the hydrothermal vein with U-sulphidic ore mineralization near Henclová village (Gelnica district) in the Spišsko-gemerské rudohorie Mts. (Vlachovo Formation, Gemeric Unit). It is the first occurrence of this mineral in Slovakia. Mineralization is developed in a hydrothermal quartz-chlorite (± fine grained white mica) vein with abundant arsenopyrite and minor quantities of uraninite, gersdorffite, löllingite, galenobismutite, bismuthinite, maldonite, bismuth and gold. Maldonite forms irregular grains up to 12 μm in size embedded in arsenopyrite, or extremely fine capillary veinlets in it. An intergrowth of maldonite with bismuthinite was rarely also observed. The chemical composition of maldonite is relatively monotonous, its average empirical formula can be expressed as (Au1.79Fe0.15) Σ1.94 (Bi0.98As0.02S0.04) Σ1.04. Microstructural relationships of ore minerals suggest that maldonite precipitated in the final stages of ore mineralization, when the temperature of the system decreased (after the crystallization of sulphoarsenides and löllingite).VEGA 1/0563/22 Asociácie a paragenézy supergénnych minerálov: odraz migrácie ťažkých prvkov v životnom prostredí APVV-22-0092 Petrogenetické modely paleozoických granitických hornín v Západných Karpatoch a ich koreláci

Vol. 9, no. 1 (2024), pp. 40-52.The plyometric training program currently used almost all kinds of sports. Athletes use them to improve their performance in specific movements, such as throws, jumps, starts, etc. Especially basketball is considered a very explosive, dynamic and fast- paced sport in which plyometric training is widely used. For the highest explosive power, two training methods must be recommended: strength and plyometric training. PT is commonly used method for developing of the lower limb explosive power by natural dynamic movements, such as various jump and jumps with counter movement

Examples of safety and health risk factors in woodworking industry in Slovak Republic

In: Trieskové a beztrieskové obrábanie dreva = Chip and chipless woodworking processes : vedecký časopis. Zvolen : Technická univerzita vo Zvolene, 2024. ISSN 2453-904X. Č. 14 (2024), s. 159-167.In the article, we want to point out the still existing safety and health risks in woodworking operations, the essence of which lies in processing of non-homogeneous materials such as wood, with anisotropic properties and the occurrence of natural wood defects, manual feed of the workpiece into the cut, tools with a large number of cutting edges and high cutting speeds, manual handling of loads, but also in many cases in the irresponsible approach of the employees or employers themselve to the OHS. Failure to address or avoid these risks leads not only to injuries, but long-term work in this environment to occupational diseases, especially hearing loss, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, etc. Although the legislation covers all areas in terms of OSH, its implementation in practice is lengthy and not always adequate. The basis for characterizing the existing safety and health risks was the manual "Risk Assessment Basics - Good for You, Good for Your Company", Check list for Woodworking. Based on the description, it is obvious that the safety risks in woodworking are known, but in many operations they tolerate, and due to health risks, minimal attention is paid to manual handling of loads and ergonomics, the neglect of which contributes significantly to diseases of the musculoskeletal system.VEGA 1/0323/23 Vplyv vybraných faktorov na kvalitatívno-kvantitatívne charakteristiky drevného prachu v pracovnom ovzduší pri opracovaní dreva elektrickým ručným náradí

Attention as a commodity in the world of disinformation and social media

In: Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Issues. Vilnius : Entrepreneurship and sustainability center, 2024. ISSN 2345-0282. Roč. 12, no 2 (2024), pp. 176-192.The dynamic development of information and communication technologies, systems and devices, the emergence of new digital media and platforms, as well as the increasingly widespread use of social networks, on the one hand, increase the availability of information and expand the possibilities of searching, receiving, creating, modifying and sharing it, on the other hand, in a significant way increase the risk of spreading misleading, altered, distorted, deceptive and/or invented information, for example, in the form of disinformation. Given the fact that current business models and the ecosystem of advertising technology allow advertising to be tailored based on already known preferences and previous interactions of users, based on their profile, interests, activities, content they interact with, and even their interpersonal relationships, media, platform, social networks and advertisers try – to achieve the best possible economic results – to attract the sustainable attention of their users. Unfortunately, in many cases, it is also through the spread of disinformation. In this context, the authors, using relevant methods of scientific research, focused on attention as a commodity and the functioning of the attention economy in the context of the increasing extent of the spread of various disinformation (but also hoaxes and conspiracy theories) primarily through social networks, their susceptibility to the spread of unwanted content and efforts to regulate the spread of such content.APVV-20-0334 "Nie je to pravda, ale mohla by byť": Konšpiračné teórie a hoaxy v modernom vývoji Slovenska v európskom kontext

Roč. 43, č. 2 (2024), s. 105-122.Elektronické sledování osob stále představuje v oblasti trestního práva v podmínkách České republiky, ale i třeba Slovenské republiky, novum.

In: Administrative Sciences. Basel : Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, 2024. ISSN 2076-3387. Vol. 14, no. 3 (2024), pp. 1-38.Translation, adaptation, and validation of instruments for cross-cultural investigation requires a rigorous methodological procedure that should be carefully planned to deliver instruments with adequate reliability and validity. This process was applied to a questionnaire measuring Organizational Citizenship Behavior toward the Environment (OCBE), Organizational Identification (OI), Environmental Responsibility (ER), and Green Human Resources Management (GHRM) in Portuguese and Slovak organizations. Several methodological procedures for cross-cultural adaptation and validation of questionnaires were analyzed, most of which used independent translators, experts' analysis, and backward translation to the original language. In the present study, a procedure adapted from Beaton et al. (2000) was applied successfully, and the blind backward translations; expert committee; and the two pretests to assess content validity, functional equivalence, and clarity proved to be worthy. The psychometric properties were measured using a sample from Portugal (N = 122) and Slovakia (N = 269). Although employees were perceiving neither a strong environmental responsibility of their organizations nor strong green human resources management, they identified themselves with the organizations and engaged in OCBEs. Comparing both countries, the factorial structure was remarkably similar, highlighting the eco-helping actions and eco-civic engagement of OCBEs. Comparing both countries, the factorial structure was remarkably similar, highlighting the eco-helping actions and eco-civic engagement of OCBEs. The results indicated that the translated instrument was functionally equivalent to the original one, valid (scale CVI/Ave > 0.83), and reliable (Scale Alpha > 0.733) for evaluating the effect of employee practices and organization management in promoting and supporting environmental sustainability

In: Cardiology Letters. Bratislava : Slovenská kardiologická spoločnosť, 2024. ISSN 1338-3655. Vol. 33, no. 1 (2024), pp. 13-26.Background: Limitations of the Friedewald equation for low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (F-LDLC) calculation, which is used by ≈ 33% of laboratories in Slovakia and 66% of laboratories in Europe, led to the Martin-Hopkins (M-LDLC), extended Martin-Hopkins (extM-LDLC) and Sampson/National Institutes of Health (S-LDLC) equations. We studied these newer calculations of LDLC for correlation and discordance for stratification into the 2019 ESC/EAS Guidelines’ cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk categories. Methods: We performed analyses on lipid profiles from 3 populations: 873 healthy children from the cross-sectional Slovak Lipid Community Study (population SLCS), records of a 1949 patients of a hospital biochemistry laboratory from from a specialized cardio centre (population VÚSCH), and records of 9113 patients of a hospital biochemistry laboratory from a large general hospital (population FN FDR). Patients were categorized as concordant if LDL-C was up to ≈ 3.4% or 8.9% of patients, respectively, to a higher CVD risk category. The difference between F-LDLC and extM-LDLC or S-LDLC is greater with higher TG, and with lower LDLC. Reliance on the Friedewald equation may result in the underestimation and undertreatment of LDL-C in those at increased risk. We recommend, in line with some national/international guidelines, that clinical laboratories switch to counting and reporting results to extM-LDLC. Fig. 4, Tab. 5, Ref. 42,

In: Cell reports physical science. Cambridge : Cell Press, 2024. ISSN 2666-3864. Vol. 5, no. 8 (2024), pp. 1-15.Aryl trifluoromethyl ethers (ArOCF3) are important structural motifs in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and functional materials. However, the methods reported for the efficient synthesis of these scaffolds are extremely underdeveloped and limited. Here, we report a highly efficient mechanochemical approach for the selective transformation of aryltrimethylammonium triflates, aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborates, and aryl pinacolboranes to aryl trifluoromethyl ethers via in situ-generated OCF3 source using triphosgene and Co(II) fluoride (CoF2). The proposed synthetic protocol also shows potential for the selective transformation of other groups such as arylsulfonium and diaryliodonium functionalities. The present trifluoromethoxylation strategy exhibited a broad functional group tolerance and found to be superior over other existing protocols in terms of substrate scope, yields, operational simplicity, and reaction times.APVV-21-0362 Perfluóralkylácia - stratégia diverzifikácie komplexných organických molekúl v neskorej fáze syntéz
