Self-identity as a constitutive element of insecurity
In: Kultura bezpieczeństwa = Security culture : science - practice - review : nauka - praktyka - refleksje. Kraków : Wyższa Szkoła Bezpieczeństwa Publicznego i Indywidualnego APEIRON, 2024. ISSN 2299-4033. No. 44 (2024), pp. 89-99.A research intention with the possibility of providing a certain model approach within the framework of the analysis of the creation and perception of the identity of an actor of international relations, namely in a specific form in the form of one's own self-identification, requires the following. First, to choose and apply an appropriate theoretical and methodological approach, and secondly, provide a corresponding empirical research base with relevant data. The theory of social constructivism with its main categorical corpus was chosen as the theoretical base in our study: in the form of norms, socialization, identity, culture, identity and difference, discourse. The method of discursive analysis was considered as the primary research method. The benefit of the purpose conceived in this way can be demonstrated by pointing out the appropriateness of the application of selected procedural steps of research in the form of a hermeneutic or heuristic insight to reveal the investigated phenomenon. It is therefore an attempt to confirm the functionality of the chosen research methodological framework, as well as the applied constructivist paradigm with its ontological and epistemological starting points

Work-life dynamics: Comparing time use of employees and self-employed individuals in Slovakia
In: Social Sciences & Humanities Open. Amsterdam : Elsevier B.V., 2024. ISSN 2590-2911. Vol. 10 (2024), pp. [1-10].This study aims to investigate the differences in work-life dynamics and time allocation between employees and self-employed individuals in Slovakia, focusing specifically on the balance between paid work, unpaid work, leisure activities, and other non-productive activities. Using detailed survey methodology, this research examines the time use patterns of 632 private sector employees and 116 self-employed individuals, segmented by gender and age groups. The findings reveal distinct differences in time allocation, such as male self-employed individuals spending less time on paid work during work-days but more during days-off compared to their employed counterparts. Female self-employed individuals also exhibit similar patterns, indicating a compensation mechanism for the dual burden of professional and household responsibilities. The study highlights the greater flexibility enjoyed by self-employed individuals, which, while beneficial for balancing personal and work life, often leads to extended working hours and blurred boundaries. Gender disparities in unpaid work persist, with women, particularly the self-employed, shouldering more household responsibilities. The research underscores the need for organizational policies supporting self-employed individuals, including enhanced access to social security and health benefits, and measures aimed at addressing gender disparities in unpaid work. These findings contribute to the literature on work-life balance, organizational behavior, and policy development, offering a foundation for future research.VEGA 1/0536/24 Manažment slovenských domácností a rozhodovanie o neplatenej práci v postcovidovej ekonomik

Robinsonades in 19th-century Slovakian popular prose romances
In: Slovo a smysl = Word & Sense : časopis pro mezioborová bohemistická studia. Praha : Filozofická fakulta Univerzity Karlovy, 2024. ISSN 1214-7915. Roč. 21, č. 44 (2024), s. 36-53.The aim of this study is to present the basic context of literary research on popular literature in Slovakia, following studies by Věra Brožová (2008) and Jiří Hrabal (2022), looking specifically at the forms of 19th-century Robinsonades, including Czech Robinsonades reprinted in Slovakia from the late 18th century through the 19th century. With the exception of a single edition of Pavel Šulc’s adaptation, we know of no adaptations of Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe in the Czech context to have been published in Slovak editions; this is surprising considering the popularity of the theme and rich history of Czech adaptations, and we believe that further investigation is required. This study therefore distinguishes between the ‘Robinsonade’ and ‘folk Robinsonade’, with respect to the different motivations for adapting Defoe’s work in the context of Slovakian popular literature: that is, between the Robinsonade as a line started by the Czech translation of J. Campe’s German adaptation Robinson der Jüngere (and subsequent adaptations by V. Kramerius’s and others; the ‘Czech Story’ follows, for example, the aforementioned study by Hrabal), and various other works that draw instead on the success of Defoe’s novel to create adventure stories based on the Robinson theme. The heroes of these stories — Berthold, Ildegert, Spelhofen, and Engelbrecht — are known from both Czech and Slovak editions. The results of this comparison, together with an examination of the factors that may have caused these changes at all investigated levels, are formulated as manifestations of specific forms of inter-literary reception, namely ‘retellings’ with omission and expansion (Robinson der Jüngere), and — as examples of the ‘folk Robinsonade’ — adaptation (Berthold), plagiarism (Ildegert), interliterary allusion (Spelhofen), and allusion (Engelbrecht). Changes in form are found to be directly proportional to the degree of application of the poetics of popular literature

The Intervention Movement Program involved selected tools using musical-movement and dance activities, implemented for a period of 18 weeks, twice a week per 45 minutes within the lessons of Physical and Sports Education. As far as data collection, standardized PE test was used, and the Klein-Thomas test modified by Mayer was used to evaluate the body posture. Based on statistical evaluation, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used, the effect of the implemented movement program on the significance level 0,05 was verified. Results: A significant progress in the quality of body posture in both groups of observed girls (p<0.5%) and boys (p<0.5%) was observed. There were significant changes in all evaluated segments of both girls’ and boys’ groups - Head and neck posture (p<0.5%), Chest shape (p<0.5%), Abdomen and pelvic inclination (p<0.5%), Total Spine curvature (p<0.5%), Shoulder blades/ scapulae (p<0.5%).
Conclussion: Regular and targeted movement activities of students in the school environment significantly affect the quality of posture as one of the manifestations of health. Volodymyr Vernadskyi on the German-Austrian occupation of Ukraine in 1918
In: Acta historica Neosoliensia : vedecký časopis pre historické vedy. Banská Bystrica : Vydavateľstvo Univerzity Mateja Bela - Belianum, 2024. ISSN 1336-9148. Vol. 27, no. 1 (2024), pp. 151-159.The article deals with the diaries as an important narrative source for historians in their study of the past. The diaries are a very peculiar type of source that is different from memoirs. Usually, the author writes his memoirs about the events that he lived through many years ago or he witnessed in the past. It is naturally that with the flow of time he may forget about something, miss something or recall something incorrectly; moreover, as it is known, in memoirs events of the past are reflected with a hindsight and that is why they do not always accurately reflect the feelings of the author at the time when these events took place. People’s attitudes towards the events can also change as the years go by. Moreover, human memory is very much selective. Unlike memoirs, the diaries allow us to understand the attitude of a particular human being to the surrounding world and contemporary events when he or she wrote about them. This has enormous value for the researcher. The diaries, as a type of historical document, are important precisely because they provide us not only with object of a historical process, in other words, what is being described, but also with insights about their authors who are present not as abstract depersonalized subjects of this process, but as living human beings with their merits and shortcomings, with their convictions and moods, their dreams and concerns. Moreover, the diaries provide unique material for the study of social psychology of people in concrete historical period. The author of diaries, which became the object of our attention, was Vladimir Ivanovich Vernadskyi (1863-1945), an outstanding Russian 20th century naturalist, geologist, biogeochemist, thinker and winner of the Stalin Prize, academician, creator of the doctrine of the biosphere, its evolution and transformation into the noosphere, who was one of the founders of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences and its first President, as well as the founder of the National Library of Ukraine. Their main value of his diaries, in our opinion, is that they help to feel the atmosphere of the dramatic events of October Revolution and Civil War in Russia and Ukraine, allows us to restore the spirit of the revolutionary stormy years in all its tragedy and contradictions. As for the content of the great scientist’s diaries, a significant part of them consists of the facts of his personal life., but also a lot of space is devoted to his impressions and reflections on political events, in particular about the German and the Austro-Hungarian occupation of Ukraine in 1918. In his diaries, a negative attitude towards the Bolsheviks and socialist ideology, non-acceptance of manifestations of Ukrainian nationalism, and condemnation of the talentless policy of the Central Rada can be clearly traced
