Science in the area of fighting arts is constantly being developed. How does this process work from the perspective of GTFA (General Theory of Fighting Arts) and institutions co-creating or cooperating in this area? The issue concerns the period from October 2022 to October 2023. Method. The analysis covers the historical and philosophical background, the activities of specialized scientific societies and universities, conferences, workshops, and other meetings, as well as new, more important scientific publications. It is a kind of review, factual and review study (opinions about events and publications). Various categories of sources were taken into account. Results. The activities of several scientific institutions (including IPA and IMACSSS) over the past year were discussed. A review of new publications in the interdisciplinary area of fighting arts was performed. Reference was also made to selected mass culture content (martial arts cinema) and some popularizing publications. Conclusions. The regularity of annual events, such as IPA meetings, seminars and summer camps, IMACSSS conferences, or other regular events, demonstrates an established institutional order. The traditions of given organizations are being built. In turn, new publications prove that the world of science is still interested in the area of fighting arts, as well as new ideas and scientific problems in this very interesting area that go beyond the scope of physical culture

In: Vykladannja mov u vyščych navčaľnych zakladach osvity na sučasnomu etapi. Mižpredmetni zvyazky = Teaching languages at higher educational establishments at the present stage. Intersubject relations. Charkov : Charkivskij nacionaľnij universitet im. V. N. Karazina, 2024. ISSN 2073-4379. No. 44 (2024), pp. 77-94.The article provides a comparative analysis of 27 studies carried out over the last five years on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in education, the application of ICT in education and the utilisation of machine translation (MT) in the teaching of foreign languages and translation. It outlines the trends identified by these studies, the achievements to date and the most promising areas for further research. The main areas identified were: the theoretical justification for the use of ICT; the comparative effectiveness of different MT systems, on the one hand, and human translators, on the other; the assessment of students’ target texts taking into account their degree of independence from MT; the role of post-editing in the teaching of foreign languages and translation and the methodology of its application in the teaching process; the role of ICT in the translation industry and its impact on the content of training programmes and curricula for future translators. The analysis showed that there is a considerable lack of sufficient research in the first area, as well as contradictory results in the remaining three (discrepancies in the evaluation of the translation efficiency of different MT systems and of MT compared to humans; unavailability of an effective and economical methodology for the evaluation of texts produced with the use of MT; the absence of a rational methodology for the application of post-editing at different stages of training and under different conditions). The author highlights the positive attitude of the translation industry towards ICT and the significant gap between its needs and the content of the training of future translators. The most promising directions for further research are outlined. These include, in particular: developing a methodology for the formation of skills included in the model of technological competence of a future translator; clarifying the comparative effectiveness of different MT systems and their potential areas of application; specifying the differences between machine and human translation and determining their optimal correlation in translator training and translation practice; identifying the optimal proportion of MT in the content of translator training and ways of evaluating texts translated using MT; developing a model for the effective integration of post-editing into the content of training; investigating ways of increasing the influence of the translation industry on the content of translator training

In: Telesná výchova a šport v živote človeka : konferenčný recenzovaný zborník vedeckých prác / rec. Robert Rozim, Daniel Baránek. 1. vyd. Zvolen : Technická univerzita vo Zvolene, 2024. ISBN 978-80-228-3441-4. S. 161-171.Cieľom tejto štúdie je prezentovať analýzu štandardnej hernej situácie rohový kop vo futbale. Celkovo bolo analyzovaných 228 rohových kopov v 39 stretnutiach, zahrávaných 8 družstvami hrajúcich štvrťfinále na MS 2022. Parametre analýzy boli - strana ihriska rohového kopu (pravá, ľavá), čas realizácie (interval 1-30, 31-60, 61-90, 90-120) a priestor, kam lopta smerovala (zóny 1, 2, 3, 4 a 5).

Politicians and the moral aspect of politics in the context of political ethics

In: Forum of foreign languages, politology and international relations = Fórum cudzích jazykov, politológie a medzinárodných vzťahov : international electronic journal focused on foreign languages, politology and international relations. Sládkovičovo : Danubius University, 2024. ISSN 2644-6464. Vol. 16, no. 1 (2024), pp. 125-133.The article examines the ethical aspects of political engagement and its impact on the character of politicians, drawing on the concept of Max Weber. Weber views politics as an autonomous sphere focused on power and resource distribution, distinguishing between the ethics of conviction and the ethics of responsibility. The ethics of conviction is based on personal moral principles without regard to consequences, whereas the ethics of responsibility emphasizes anticipating and accepting the consequences of decisions, particularly in relation to future generations. Furthermore, Weber defines that a true politician should possess passion, responsibility, and judgment. Political wisdom, as an ethical tool, is rooted in historical memory, adaptability, and foresight. Political courage is another essential aspect, requiring the ability to defend public interests despite personal losses. The main challenge is to establish an ethical framework that fosters responsible decision-making by politicians and enhances public trust in political processes
