In: Acta Educationis Generalis. Dubnica nad Váhom : Vysoká škola DTI, 2025. ISSN 2585-741X. Roč. 15, č. 2 (2025), s. 63-82.Introduction: The research analyses four science primary school textbooks designed for the 3rd grade. Methods: The textbooks were analysed using various methods and procedures. It was determined which of the examined textbooks is the most educationally effective, meaning it not only provides information from the respective field and focuses on knowledge acquisition but also develops skills and more complex abilities. A quantitative content analysis of tasks was carried out in terms of the level of cognitive processes. Results: The findings reveal a significant diversity across these aspects, with all textbooks demonstrating a high level of educational value. However, only one textbook meets the comprehensibility requirements for young learners. Discussion: Compared to past science textbooks, the educational effectiveness of current textbooks has significantly improved. Limitations: The limitations of the research include potential errors due to human factors in counting, and also the difficulty in comparing the results of this research with those from studies of foreign textbooks. Conclusions: The author recommends using these insights to develop new, higher-quality textbooks that reflect inquiry-based educational strategy.VEGA 1/0486/24 Výskum potenciálu učiteľov a analýza kurikulárnych dokumentov z aspektu integrácie vzdelávacích obsahov primárneho vzdelávani

In: Gyermeknevelés Tudományos Folyóirat = Journal of Early Years Education. Budapešť : Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetem, 2025. ISSN 2063-9945. Roč. 13, č. 2 (2025), s. 38-61.The aim of the authors was to map the current state of early childhood language education in Slovakia from the perspective of 374 foreign language teachers in primary schools. The range of the questionnaire aimed to obtain a descriptive yet comprehensive view of both the external settings and, from the teachers’ perspective, their internal prerequisites for their foreign language teaching (FLT) for pupils aged 6-10. The respondents expressed their opinions on their own FLT competencies as well as the objective conditions for meeting the expected goals of FLT within the current primary school environment, including the level of attention given to the quality of FLT for young learners. The data include respondents’ evaluations of their principals’ roles in providing qualified staff (including native speakers), appropriate resources, supporting teachers’ professional development, paying attention to varying levels of foreign language proficiency, and monitoring pupil and parent satisfaction. The teacher respondents highlighted areas where they need more support and training, such as activating effective methods for teaching vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and language skills to mixed-ability groups of pupils. The most revealing results relate to both positive and negative feedback from pupils and parents on teachers’ performance.KEGA 011UMB-4/2022 Creation of a web portal for methodological support of foreign language teaching in primar

In: Filozofia. Bratislava : Filozofický ústav Slovenskej akadémie vied, 2025. ISSN 0046-385X. Roč. 80, č. 3 (2025), s. 394-408.Ancient sources depict the so-called Megarian school in two seemingly contrasting ways: on the one hand, as eristic and dialectic, and on the other, as a continuation of the Socratic ethical orientation in philosophy. The figure of Stilpo of Megara serves as an outstanding example of how these two aspects complement and condition one another. This study focuses on the analysis of selected fragments, specifically Stilpo’s critique of non-tautological predication, as well as his response to criticisms concerning the immoral behavior of his daughter. Both cases are based on the premise that it is impossible to predicate “one thing of another.” Stilpo’s dialectical strategies, which challenge certain ontological and linguistic assumptions, thus also functioned as ethical exercises aimed at achieving inner stability. It makes him a bridge between Socratic inquiry and Stoic and Pyrrhonian philosophy and a key figure in the transition to the Hellenistic period.VEGA 1/0031/23 Miesto megarikov v sokratovskom hnut

In: Education applications and developments. 10. 1. vyd. Lisabon : inScience Press, 2025. ISBN 978-989-35728-5-6. ISSN 2183-2978. Pp. 439-449.Slovakia is a country of permanent or temporary residence for many nations and ethnic groups, which oftentimes do not have the possibility to receive education in their own language. One of the most controversial linguistic minorities on this front are children from the Roma community, which are commonly marginalised due to different living conditions as well as socio-economic standards. Both these factors highly contribute to segregation of Roma children from the Slovak majority and negatively affect their cultural experience. When entering the formal education system, Roma children do not possess the same linguistic competence of Slovak language as pupils from the major population. In this paper, the authors analysed the textbooks in Slovak: commonly used in the first two grades of elementary schools and attempted to identify the most frequent words, phrases and sentences that children from the Roma community usually encounter in written form, while being educated. By doing so, the authors would like to increase their potential comprehensibility for pupils from marginalised Roma communities. The findings of this research provide a basis for the development of an effective language programme for the second language acquisition of Slovak and urges the Slovak school system to develop a comprehensive national strategy, which would provide adequate language support for children from linguistic minorities.APVV-22-0450 Program rozvoja jazykových spôsobilostí detí s odlišným materinským jazykom v slovenskom jazyku - tvorba a overovani

In: Molecules. Basel : Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, 2025. ISSN 1420-3049. Vol. 30, no. 8 (2025), pp. 1-14.One of the key modeling procedures is model verification, which ensures its reliability and confidence. In many respects, the length of the crown is an interesting biophysical property. Precise determination of crown length can be one of the components used in estimating the mass of needles or leaf area index (LAI), and consequently the amount of transpiration or the amount of carbon dioxide bound, which is crucial in the context of climate change. The objective of this study was to calculate the length of the crown Pinus sylvestris using an allometric model and to compare these results with the actual ones to establish the degree of discrepancy. The model that was tested was based on three predictor variables, i.e., diameter at breast height, tree height, and stand density index. The verification was carried out using empirical data collected for 300 sample trees on 20 experimental plots located in south-western Poland. All the stands were pine monocultures located in the habitats of fresh or mixed fresh forest aged from 28 to 40 years. The studied stands differed in terms of diameter at breast height, height, and density (0.68–1.81). The comparison between empirical ( ) and calculated ( ) mean crown lengths in the stand using the model was expressed by the correlation coefficient’, which was R = 0.955, with a divergence (±) of 4.57%. The tested model is dedicated to calculating the length of tree crowns at the population level. The model uses a density index, which is a constant value for all trees within the area. Further work is needed to improve the model and allow for precise calculation of the crown length of a single tree, taking into account the space it has at its disposal.APVV-21-0362 Perfluóralkylácia - stratégia diverzifikácie komplexných organických molekúl v neskorej fáze syntéz

Heterogeneous labour market trajectories in the EU: convergence, divergence and stagnation across regions

In: The Annals of Regional Science : an international journal of urban, regional and environmental research and policy. Berlin : Springer-Verlag, 2025. ISSN 0570-1864. Vol. 74, no. 2 (2025), pp. 1-32.The scientific objective of this study is to analyse and compare the convergence, divergence, or stagnation of selected regional labour markets indicators in the European Union, employing beta and sigma convergence concepts and the convergence club approach. By analysing seven labour market indicators from the Regional Competitiveness Index, we uncover a complex and heterogeneous landscape of labour market dynamics. Significant beta convergence is observed in three of the seven indicators, while the remaining four display stagnation. However, sigma convergence is not detected in any of the indicators; instead, two show divergence and five exhibit stagnation. Recognizing that these mixed results may stem from the fact that regions belong to distinct “convergence clubs” shaped by path dependency, we separately analyse post-socialist and capitalist regions. The convergence club approach proves useful in interpreting these varied patterns of convergence, divergence and stagnation in EU regional labour markets. Our findings suggest that while certain regions are converging on specific labour market indicators (e.g. gender balance in unemployment, long-term unemployment), others, particularly in terms of overall unemployment rates and labour productivity, are diverging. This underscores the high degree of heterogeneity within EU regional labour markets, driven by structural, institutional and historical factors. The study highlights that labour market convergence is not an automatic process but one that necessitates strategic, long-term interventions. Policy responses must be tailored and sensitive to the unique circumstances and historical trajectories of each region, aiming not only to reduce immediate disparities but to foster sustainable development that aligns with the overarching goals of economic convergence across the European Union.European Union's Horizon Europe 101079219 The Brridge project VEGA 1/0343/23 Moderné prístupy k rozvoju miest a regióno

The role of phytohormones in phytoremediation using reed

In: Carpathian journal of earth and environmental sciences. Baia Mare : North University of Baia Mare, 2025. ISSN 1842-4090. Vol. 20, no. 1 (2025), pp. 183-196.Salinity is a global problem and salinity areas are constantly increasing because of poor-quality irrigation systems containing high concentration of dissolved salts, salt penetration, and water pollution. This study deals with the phytoremediation of salts from mine water using phytohormones auxin 1-naphthylacetic acid (NAA) and cytokinin (m-topolin) at a concentration 10-5 mol/l and common reed (Phragmites australis). The reed plants collected at the Lazy Mine were tested for their ability to accumulate salts from the surrounding mine waters. The experiment was carried out under controlled and controllable conditions in a phytotron. The hypothesis to be tested was a positive effect of phytohormones on the ability of the common reed to better accumulate salts from mine wastewater. The results show that the application of phytohormones in the long-range period, especially auxin, at a concentration of 10-5 mol/l could have a positive effect on the ability of reeds to accumulate salts from mine waters

In: Physiotherapy review. Warszawa : Krajowa Izba Fizjoterapeutów, 2025. ISSN 2719-5139. Vol. 29, no. 2 (2025), pp. 5-14.Background: Diastasis recti abdominis (DRA) is a common condition characterized by the abnormal separation of the rectus abdominis muscles, frequently observed postpartum. It poses substantial health challenges, leading to compromised trunk stability, altered posture, and diminished physical performance. Given the variability in therapeutic approaches, a systematic analysis of the effectiveness and impact of physiotherapeutic interventions is essential to guide clinical practices. Aims: The objective of this review is to analyze contemporary therapeutic methods applied in the treatment of postpartum DRA, with particular emphasis on their effectiveness and impact on abdominal muscle functionality. Material and methods: A comprehensive literature review was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions used for treating DRA, including kinesitherapy, manual therapy, electroacupuncture, and Kinesiotaping. The analysis included studies examining the impact of these therapeutic methods on selected parameters in women with DRA. Results: The findings indicate significant improvements in abdominal muscle function among patients with DRA. Complementary techniques, such as electroacupuncture and Kinesiotaping, may support tissue regeneration processes, enhance tissue flexibility, and aid in trunk stabilization. Specific exercise protocols targeting deep core stability and transverse abdominal muscles were particularly effective in reducing muscle separation and enhancing overall functional performance. Additionally, methods such as Pilates and yoga demonstrated substantial benefits in improving posture, reducing symptoms associated with DRA, and enhancing patient-reported quality of life. The integration of manual visceral manipulation also showed promising initial results, contributing to the overall effectiveness of conservative treatment strategies. Conclusions: A comprehensive therapeutic approach for managing DRA should primarily incorporate kinesitherapy as a core component of rehabilitation, complemented by supportive methods. Further studies are needed to standardize therapeutic protocols and determine their long-term effectivenes

Spatial distribution and host preferences of Fomes fomentarius and F. inzengae in Europe: a review

In: Folia Oecologica. Zvolen : Ústav ekológie lesa Slovenskej akadémie vied, 2025. ISSN 1336-5266. Vol. 52, no. 2 (2025), pp. 202-218.Globally, wood-decay fungi are important ecological component of forests and woody plants. However, the traditional morphospecies, such as Fomes fomentarius, often show cryptic diversity. The traditional concept of the morphospecies comprises two delimited species, namely F. fomentarius s.str. and F. inzengae. In this review the spatial distribution and some ecological features of both species in Europe were characterized. In total, 259 records (139 F. inzengae and 120 F. fomentarius s.str., respectively) were analyzed from different localities in 29 countries. The two species are found almost all over Europe and there is no clear geographical segregation of these species, but the species show different host preferences. While F. fomentarius s.str. primarily colonizes Fagus and Betula, F. inzengae has a remarkably broad host range (Abies, Acer, Aesculus, Alnus, Betula, Carpinus, Castanea, Fagus, Fraxinus, Juglans, Olea, Platanus, Populus, Prunus, Quercus, Salix, Sorbus, and Tilia). Acer, Alnus, Betula, Fagus, and Populus are the five host genera common to both fungal species.VEGA 1/0564/21 Interakcie drevokazných makromycét a drevín v habitatoch s rôznym stupňom zachovalosti a prirodzenosti za posledných 40 rokov KEGA 014UMB-4/2023 Tvorba elektronických kľúčov na determináciu húb pre mobilné zariadenia - pomôcky pre rôzne stupne vzdelávania ITMS 313011T721 Komplexný výskum determinantov pre zabezpečenie environmentálneho zdravi
