    No full text
In: The New Educational Review. Toruń : Wydawnictwo Adam Marszałek, 2025. ISSN 1732-6729. No. 80 (2025), pp. 187-199.The study examines how the length of teaching experience and the type of school influence primary teachers’ pedagogical approaches to building a classroom community. Results of observed teachers’ professional activities related to developing pupils’ accepting behaviour, discipline, cooperation and self-assessment are presented on a sample of 137 primary teachers. A quantitative investigation with a structured observation method was used. Differences between teachers by school type were tested with the Mann-Whitney U-test and differences by length of teaching experience with the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results indicate that the school type and partly also the length of experience influence pedagogical approaches to purposeful building of a classroom community, which may have significant implications for teachers’ professional development

The role and influence of the conspiratorial narrative on the acceptance of conspiracy theories

    No full text
In: Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Issues. Vilnius : Entrepreneurship and sustainability center, 2025. ISSN 2345-0282. Vol. 12, no. 4 (2025), pp. 158-170.Conspiracy theories have received considerable attention in recent times. Some people consider them the best possible explanations for certain significant social events and believe them more than official reports or explanations. This article, therefore, examines the factors influencing the acceptance of conspiracy theories, paying particular attention to the conspiratorial narrative and the influence of information ambiguity on their acceptance. Based on theoretical foundations, it analyses the relationship between conspiratorial thinking, emotional factors and distrust of official sources, authorities and institutions. The results suggest that information ambiguity is not the primary factor influencing belief in conspiracy theories, but rather the personality predispositions of individuals, their perceived threat and the degree of scepticism towards official explanations of certain events. Conspiracy thinking appears to be a stable cognitive schema resistant to rational counterarguments and often supported by emotional and social factors.APVV-20-0334 "Nie je to pravda, ale mohla by byť": Konšpiračné teórie a hoaxy v modernom vývoji Slovenska v európskom kontexte VEGA 1/0578/23 Kyberneticko-sociálne bezpečnostné hrozby v súčasnom svete: prípadová štúdia o hrozbách dezinformácií a novovznikajúcich hrozbách v spoločenskom kontext

The urban/rural community divide based on a geo-economic perspective: An analysis of work contracts in Slovakia

    No full text
In: Quaestiones Geographicae. Poznań : Wydawnictwo Naukowego Uniwersytetu im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, 2025. ISSN 2082-2103. Vol. 44, no. 2 (2025), pp. 137-147.The study analyses over 1.5 million entries from the Slovak Social Insurance Company dataset for 2022. The records of work contracts for insured individuals are categorised by age, type of insurance, place of residence, and workplace, based on ZIP codes. By using ZIP codes, we were able to assess the connectivity of rural areas to workplaces, with a particular focus on the rural-urban divide. This approach highlights a geo-economic perspective in distinguishing urban and rural areas. Our analysis has revealed that most rural residents maintain strong urban economic connections, even extending to the capital city. Economically, only 26.6% of rural ZIP codes have more than 50% of their work contracts based within rural areas. Thus, we conclude that the term ‘rural’ carries more aesthetic than economic significance.VEGA 1/0449/23 Rozvoj obcí na Slovensku z hľadiska spotrebiteľských príležitostí v postkrízovom prostred

Úvod do štúdia literatúry : Cvičebnica interpretácie prozaických textov pre študentov rusistiky

    No full text

Lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic: consumer behavior during adverse events

ISSN 2683-5991. Pp. 171-179.The COVID-19 pandemic created unique conditions in societies with various implications for the future. A research study based on empirical research conducted on a sample of 1172 consumers explores the consumer behavior changes that occurred during the pandemic. It was discovered that the consumers in the age group 30 – 39 years old living alone to the greatest extent decreased the amount of products they bought during the pandemic. In 2021, the most significant impact of the shop availability factor was recorded, from the point of view of consumers aged 50 to 59. Consumers aged 40-49 were most likely to be influenced by expert information in their purchasing decisions and they were the ones who most trusted the official government information on pandemic development. Fear was an important factor that influenced consumer behavior during the pandemic. The fear of job loss manifested itself in higher savings among consumers in the 40-59 age group. On the contrary, lower age categories of consumers were more concerned about the health of their loved ones, which was mainly reflected in the tendency to shop in brick-and-mortar stores unaccompanied. Guidelines were formulated based on these findings in order to predict how the consumers will adapt their behavior during the next adverse event that may occur in the future. By explaining in detail what changes occurred and why they occurred it is possible to predict consumer behavior during adverse events in the near future.VEGA 1/0134/22 Zmeny v spotrebiteľskom správaní vplyvom pandémie COVID-19 za účelom predikcie jeho vývoj

Effective visualization of data structures in graph databases

    No full text
In: Journal of Image and Graphics. Portsmouth : University of Portsmouth, 2024. ISSN 2301-3699. Vol. 12, no 3 (2024), pp. 283-291.To efficiently store data where the relationships between individual objects are essential, the use of a graph database model is recommended. After storing the data, it is necessary to further analyze it using statistical methods or visualize it within the context of exploratory data analysis. Such visualization is crucial for understanding the structure and content of the database. However, commonly used visualization tools often fall short in terms of interactivity and effectiveness. The main objective of the presented work is the design and implementation of a novel model for the visualization of data structures stored in graph databases with the use of two natural graphical models—the standard topological layout of the database and the so-called clustered layout of a graph database. The presented graphical models are focused on interactive visualization, mainly scaling of visualization and development of database objects, and principles of effective visualization. Implementation of the proposed approach was evaluated via case studies on three model graph databases of various sizes—Messaging database (16 objects, 16 relationships), Library database (16 objects, 32 relationships) and Movie database (171 objects, 253 relationships). Compared to the standard Neo4j tool for the visual representation of property graphs in graph databases, the proposed model presents improvement in terms of the number of visualization models, effectivity of the visualization, and development of objects in the visualized database.Erasmus+ 2021-1-RO01-KA220-HED-000030286 Uplatňovanie niektorých pokročilých technológií vo výučbe a výskume v súvislosti so skúmaním znečistenia ovzduši

Gendered division of housework in Slovak couples: Life course and other factors

    No full text
In: Journal of Family and Economic Issues. New York : Springer Science+Business Media, 2024. ISSN 1058-0476. Vol. 45, no 3 (2024), pp. 649-671.The paper examines factors that explain the allocation of time and the gendered division of routine, non-routine and care activities in Slovak households. It departs from the extant literature in three notable respects. First, the division of household labor between partners is studied for Slovakia, a former Socialist country with a specific family and societal context, where female labor force participation evolved differently from Western market economies. Second, in conjunction with the established theories of gendering housework (the time availability, relative resources and gender ideology hypotheses), the explanation takes a life course perspective that breaks households down into five life stages by the presence and age of children. Third, the methodology considers simultaneity in the time spent on different tasks and in its division between the genders by adopting a model of seemingly unrelated regression equations. Slovak males are found to spend on average more time in paid employment and devote far fewer hours to unpaid routine housework than females do. Life cycle stages are found to be a reliable predictor especially for hours spent and the gendered division of care work. Life stages are manifested mainly in time use of women, whereas men adjust their time use only when their assistance is needed with children. Time allocation and the gendered division of routine and non-routine chores are primarily explained by income-based and education-based relative resources, whilst patterns of care work are in line with the life course rather than explained by time availability.VEGA 1/0366/21 Závislé podnikanie na Slovensku - reflexia, meranie a perspektív
