In: Scientific Reports. London : Nature Publishing Group, 2025. ISSN 2045-2322. Vol. 15, no. 1 (2025), art. no. 34662, pp. 1-22.Potentially toxic elements selected elements pose a risk of contamination and intoxication of agricultural soil. Such contamination is closely linked to threats to human health, as the bioavailability of these elements allows their transfer from crops into the food chain. The aim of the study is to assess the bioavailability of selected elements in barley grain in case of possible soil contamination with selected selected elements. The main novelty of the work consists in the evaluation of the mutual correlation of selected elementss in the bioavailability of spring barley with respect to different treatments. To determine the selected elements bioavailability, the content of selected selected elements was monitored in soil with the addition of NPK and in soil treated with the addition of Mo, Sr, As, Cd. To evaluate the accessibility of selected elements, or their synergism, we used selected methods of inductive statistics. The α-level of 0.05 was set as the decision rule in all statistical tests. Based on our analysis at the unit change of Mo, Mn in spring barley grain increases by an average of 2.14 mg.kg− 1 when grown in strontium-enriched soil. According to our study, barley grain at a unit change of As increases by an average in Mn content by 24.44 mg.kg− 1 with the addition of Cd. According to our results, the addition of Mo to the soil caused an average decrease in Zn at the unit change of As by 3.4 mg.kg− 1. Likewise, an average increase in Mo of 38.45 mg.kg− 1 at the unit change of As (addition of Mo) was confirmed. A negative correlation was confirmed between pairs of elements Mo and Zn without the addition of selected elements. The study confirmed statistically significant differences in the content of selected elements in individual treatments compared to the control NPK sample. At the same time, a positive or negative correlation in the bioavailability of selected selected elements was confirmed.ITMS 313011T721 Komplexný výskum determinantov pre zabezpečenie environmentálneho zdravia VEGA 1/0220/23 Biodostupnosť potenciálne toxických prvkov na opustených Cu-ložiskác

In: Economies. Basel : MDPI, 2025. ISSN 2227-7099. Vol. 13, no. 5 (2025), art. no. 135, pp. 1-27.The COVID-19 pandemic has had an enormous economic impact on society. One of the little-known links is the impact of the pandemic on corporate social responsibility. The main aim of this research was to compare the situation before and during the pandemic, which allows the assessment of the impact of the pandemic on the rates and ways of implementing CSR in different organizations. A new research model incorporating all CSR dimensions was created to examine the implementation rates through 83 indicators. The findings indicate an overall decrease in CSR activities during the pandemic. Employee and community activities were the most affected. However, the biggest disparities were recorded in the environmental dimension. The originality of the study lies in the development of a novel methodological approach to documenting the CSR involvement in organization and its application to compare the pandemic and post-pandemic levels. By understanding the effects of major adverse events, it is possible to further develop its evolution and combat the barriers that led to a decrease in CSR areas during the pandemic.VEGA 1/0023/25 Možnosti a bariéry implementácie protikorupčných manažérskych systémov v praxi slovenských podniko

In: Sociální práce = Sociálna práca = Czech and Slovak Social Work : nabízíme spojení teorie a praxi : ponúkame spojenie teórie s praxou. Brno : Asociace vzdělavatelů v sociální práci, 2025. ISSN 1213-6204. Roč. 25, č. 4 (2025), s. 127-142.OBJECTIVES: This paper aims to advance the understanding of the ambivalent elements of social communication used by social workers in client interactions. THEORETICAL BASE: The theoretical framework of ambivalent elements of social communication is grounded in the scholarly knowledge of social communication, with the transactional model serving as its foundational principle. METHODS: The research was conducted using a qualitative study design, incorporating various data collection methods such as recording social worker-client interactions, making observations, and interviewing social workers. OUTCOMES: The research findings indicate that ambivalent elements of social communication are present in every interaction between social workers and clients, constituting an integral component of the communication process. These elements operate on both conscious and subconscious levels. SOCIAL WORK IMPLICATIONS: Incorporating supporting elements into communication does not inherently ensure a positive communication outcome, nor is it directly proportional to communication effectiveness. Some supporting elements of communication exhibit ambivalence. These findings carry significant implications for social work practitioners, particularly in enhancing the effectiveness of social communication, in which integration of client feedback and continuous development of communication skills serve as guiding principles. Concurrently, there is an effort to raise awareness of the ambivalent elements inherent in social communication

In: Health Technologies = Technolohiji zdorovja. Charkov : Independent Publisher Zhanneta Kozina, 2025. ISSN 2958-7921. Vol. 3, no. 3 (2025), pp. 6-14.Background and purpose: Performing any physical activity is accompanied by subjective feelings of its severity. The purpose of the work is to experimentally substantiate the effectiveness of the method of controlling physical activity based on subjective feelings in the training process of basketball players aged 12-13. Material and methods: In the experiment, the subjects were young basketball players aged 12-13 from the Youth Sports School. 24 athletes were divided into 2 groups of 12 athletes in each group. Training was conducted 3 times a week for 6 months. The experimental group trained using the Borg scale for self-regulation of physical activity (the rate of perceived exertion (RPE) scale). A control group of schoolchildren aged 12-13 trained in parallel with the experimental group. The subjects of this group performed the exercises themselves without using subjective load control. The results of the two groups were compared with each other according to the results of special endurance tests, which were conducted before the beginning of the experimental research process and after its completion. Results: The use of the method of subjective regulation of the intensity of the load when performing exercises aimed at developing special endurance in basketball contributes to a significant increase in results compared to similar classes, but without the use of this method. Conclusion: The results obtained indicate the need to take into account subjective feelings of the severity of the work in assessing the intensity of the load in basketball training classes. For this purpose, the verbal-digital Borg scale can be used. The use of this scale will significantly help the physical education teacher to adequately dose the load when performing exercises aimed at developing special endurance in basketball

From education to the social contract: Locke's philosophy and the challenges of today's world

In: Disputationes scientificae Universitatis Catholicae in Ružomberok. Ružomberok : Verbum - vydavateľstvo KU, 2025. ISSN 1335-9185. Roč. 25, č. 3 (2025), s. 39-50.Moral education and civil society form an integral part of any attempt to create a just and stable social order. Already in the thought of John Locke, one of the key thinkers of the early modern period, we find a compelling basis for the claim that a free and just society cannot exist without morally educated individuals. Locke's theory is based on the premise that virtues are not innate qualities, but rather their development is the result of education, personal experience, and reason. In the context of the Slovak curriculum reforms, there is room for reflection on how the education system could contribute to the development of responsible and critically thinking citizens. Our aim is to explore the philosophical basis of Locke's ideas on moral education and their applicability in contemporary education. Against the backdrop of current social and educational challenges, we focus on an analysis of Locke's concept of the social contract, his ideas about moral education, and their relevance to a modern democratic society. In the context of the current curricular reform in Slovakia, which emphasizes the comprehensive development of pupils, Locke's emphasis on the protection of natural rights and the importance of education is particularly relevant. The reform reflects the need to integrate ethical education, critical thinking and civic responsibility into the educational process, which are the very principles that Locke also considered essential for the healthy functioning of a civil society

In: Juvenilia Paedagogica 2025 : aktuálne teoretické a výskumné otázky pedagogiky v konceptoch dizertačných prác doktorandov : zborník príspevkov z konferencie s medzinárodnou účasťou konanej dňa 07. 02. 2025 pod záštitou dekanky Pedagogickej fakulty TU v Trnave / rec. Viktor Lechta, Monika Mačkinová .. [et al.]. 1. vyd. Trnava : Trnavská univerzita v Trnave, 2025. ISBN 978-80-568-0732-3. S. 27-41.Vodné bezstavovce zohrávajú kľúčovú úlohu v ekosystémoch, avšak často zostávajú na okraji záujmu verejnosti a ochrany prírody, čo je spôsobené ich nízkou známosťou a obmedzenou vizuálnou príťažlivosťou. Posilnenie povedomia o ekologickej hodnote vodných bezstavovcov a ich spojení s ekosystémovými službami môže zvýšiť empatiu a podporiť hlbšiu ochotu chrániť tieto druhy. Táto štúdia sa zameriava na vnímanie menej známych vodných a na vodu viazaných druhov medzi žiakmi základných škôl, pričom analyzuje ich estetickú príťažlivosť a ochotu zapojiť sa do ochranárskeho úsilia. Zistili sme, že medzi vnímanou atraktívnosťou vodných bezstavovcov a ochotou žiakov ich chrániť je signifikantná korelácia; najatraktívnejšie sú hodnotené imága vážok (Odonata), mäkkýše (Molusca) sú vnímané v oboch prípadoch neutrálne a medzi najmenej atraktívne patria korčuliarka obyčajná (Gerris lacustris) a pijavica lekárska (Hirudo medicinalis). Za pomoci rozličných praktických úloh, vizuálnych materiálov a emocionálne angažujúcich metód realizovaných v rámci záujmových krúžkov so žiakmi základných škôl, je snaha preklenúť priepasť medzi nízkou verejnou informovanosťou a nevyhnutnosťou ochrany ekologicky významných, no prehliadaných druhov

Co vypovídá odpad o středověké Banské Bystrici (střední Slovensko) a jejím přírodním prostředí

In: Archeologické rozhledy = Archaeological review = Archeologičeskije novosti = Nouvelles archéologiques. Praha : Archeologický ústav AV ČR, 2025. ISSN 0323-1267. Roč. 77, č. 2 (2025), s. 181-215.The historical town hall of Banská Bystrica was rebuilt in the second half of the 16th century from a medieval town mansion that had traditionally been owned by the town’s high-ranking citizens. As the building was an important structure, there is an extraordinary record of written sources depicting its history. However, there is almost no information before the year 1500 due to the fire that destroyed the town archives. Just as the fire obliterated the written record, modern construction activities severely damaged the archaeological record. The archaeological survey at the historical town hall of Banská Bystrica conducted between 2008 and 2009 could be considered a prime example of a rescue event. The small assemblage of artefacts dated shortly before and after the great fire was complemented by animal bones, water-preserved wooden planks, and archaeobotanical material. These finds underwent dendrochronological and radiocarbon dating, providing clues for assessing settlement continuity from the pre-colonisation period. By applying an interdisciplinary approach, which included the analysis of pottery, chemical analysis, DNA sampling, archaeobotanical and archaeozoological analysis, it became possible to reconstruct certain aspects of everyday life as well as the environment in the town and its surroundings
