In: Zdravotnícke listy : vedecký recenzovaný časopis. Trenčín : Trenčianska univerzita Alexandra Dubčeka v Trenčíne, 2025. ISSN 1339-3022. Roč. 13, č. 3 (2025), s. 53-59.Introduction: Postural deviations in school-age boys represent growing public health concerns, often linked to sedentary behavior, insufficient physical activity, and inadequate ergonomic conditions. While out-of-school settings offer promising settings for preventive interventions, research in this context remains limited. Aim: The study aimed to evaluate the effects of 8-week intervention on posture in school-age boys, attending out-of-school settings. Materials and Methods: Quasi-experimental design involved 35 male participants (age: 9.4 ± 0.3 years), with 20 assigned to experimental group receiving the intervention and 15 to nonintervention control group. The program consisted of 20-minute sessions, conducted 3/ week over 8 weeks. Parameters of posture (head/neck, chest, abdomen/pelvis, spine, shoulders/ scapulas) were evaluated pre- and post-intervention using validated observational tools (Klein and Thomas/Mayer method). Results: Statistical analysis (Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney U-Tests) revealed significant post-intervention improvements (p < 0.01) in all evaluated parameters within the experimental group, accompanied by large effect sizes. No significant change was observed in the control group. CONCLUSIONS: Results demonstrate that brief, structured interventions can produce clinically meaningful improvements in postural health among school-age boys, affirming the utility of out-of-school settings for posture correction and prevention

In: Economics and Sociology : journal of scientific papers. Szczecin : Centre of Sociological Research, 2025. ISSN 2071-789X. Vol. 18, no. 1 (2025), pp. 116-131.Modern society is facing a multitude of challenges and environmental problems related to excessive consumption and extensive utilization, or even depletion, of natural resources caused by various industries. These issues are compounded by the fashion businesses selling attractive, trendy, mass-produced cheap clothes, while exploiting labour force with unsatisfactory working conditions. The objective of this study was to examine generational differences in environmental concerns of females related to sustainable clothing and differences in their actual purchases. A questionnaire survey was conducted for a sample of 1796 female respondents from 4 countries: Slovakia (428), Czechia (423), Slovenia (518), and Lithuania (427). Kruskal-Wallis tests were used for data processing. The findings reveal significant differences in concern for the well-being of clothing factory workers, animal species, future generations, and for the environment across the generational cohorts. Overall, younger generations, especially Gen Z and Gen Y, exhibit higher levels of concern for the well-being of clothing factory workers, animal species, and for the environment compared to Baby Boomers. Gen X demonstrates higher levels of concern for the well-being of future generations and environmental issues. Notably, Gen Z shows the lowest levels of engagement across all categories, suggesting a gap between attitudes and actual behaviour. Limitations of the study are discussed, and future research directions are noted.VEGA 1/0036/21 Determinanty ekoinovačnej činnosti podnikov v kontexte zmien vonkajšieho ekonomického prostredi

S. 436-442.Opt-out predstavuje individuálne a dobrovoľné predĺženie týždenného pracovného času. K systému opt-out má negatívne stanovisko Európsky parlament. Členské štáty Európskej únie (ďalej len „EÚ“) môžu vo svojom zákonodarstve zakotviť možnosť neuplatňovať čl. 6 smernice o maximálnom pracovnom týždni, ak sa na tom individuálne dohodne zamestnávateľ so zamestnancom za predpokladu, že bude dodržaná ochrana bezpečnosti a zdravia zamestnancov. V prípade zakotvenia takejto možnosti individuálneho prekročenia týždenného pracovného času smernica vyžaduje splnenie ďalších kumulatívne vyjadrených podmienok zakotvených v čl. 22 ods. 1 smernice

In: Policy Studies. Abingdon : Taylor & Francis Group, 2025. ISSN 0144-2872. Vol. 46, no. 5 (2025), pp. 676-696.The Russian invasion of Ukraine sparked Europe's largest refugee crisis since World War II, challenging host nations to rapidly develop support systems for millions displaced by conflict. This study explores the life trajectory concept – encompassing personal growth, historical context, timing, and social relationships – to analyze the efforts of Slovak citizens and NGOs in supporting refugees. Using a qualitative design, the research combined walking interviews with 11 Ukrainian refugees and focus group discussions with 12 Slovak NGO representatives. Descriptive statistics highlighted refugee numbers, aid distribution, and programme effectiveness, while thematic analysis identified key contrasts: (1) Fluctuating needs versus the prioritization of basic necessities, (2) Limited social support versus refugee resilience, (3) Cultural integration versus a persistent longing for home, (4) Language education versus the demand for work-integrated learning, and (5) Donor generosity versus logistical challenges. The findings underscore the dynamic interplay between refugees' evolving needs and the support provided, offering actionable insights for policymakers, humanitarian organizations, and support services. By addressing both immediate and long-term challenges, stakeholders can enhance aid effectiveness for Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia and across Europe

In: Jazyk a kultúra : internetový časopis Lingvokulturologického a prekladateľsko-tlmočníckeho centra excelentnosti pri Filozofickej fakulte Prešovskej univerzity. Prešov : Lingvokulturologické a prekladateľsko-tlmočnícke centrum excelentnosti pri Filozofickej fakulte Prešovskej univerzity, 2025. ISSN 1338-1148. V audiovizuálnom preklade a konkrétne v preklade dabingu navyše vstupujú do hry aj ďalšie faktory, z ktorých nie všetky z nich dokáže prekladateľ ovplyvniť – napr. tón hlasu herca. V nasledujúcej časti stručne predstavíme sériu Deadpool a potom zadefinujeme pojem vulgarizmov a vysvetlíme problémy vyplývajúce zo snahy o jeho hierarchizáciu

In: Journal of Central European Agriculture : JCEA. Záhreb : University of Zagreb, 2025. ISSN 1332-9049. Vol. 26, no. 2 (2025), pp. 510-527.The article presents changes in land use in the marginalized area of Šahy town on the Slovak-Hungarian border in relation to socio-economic changes. The aim of the research was to outline future development trends and propose management measures for the future in terms of the optimal functioning of this area. The assessment of the historical development of the landscape is based on the natural potential of the landscape, to which relevant socio-economic characteristics are added. These create and characterize the theoretical basis of the processed issue and the methodological concept for further processing. Analyses of the development and use of the landscape in the context of the real development of the landscape according to historical time horizons from the first military mapping (1769 - 1784) to the present state are conditioned by field research. Changes in land use are observed through the analysis of elements of the secondary landscape structure (SLS) and further processed methods of geographic information systems (GIS) and statistical evaluation of data. The evaluated changes are typical for the entire territory of the post-communist countries of Central Europe. They include peripheral regions in terms of environmental preservation depending on urban infrastructure. One of the conclusions of the research is the proposals for management measures for the Šahy town in connection with its strategic planning and strategic documents. The measures are divided into 3 areas - economic, social and environmental. We have determined positive or low in relation to the development of the country in the future.VEGA 1/0578/24 Ekosystémové funkcie a služby v priestorovom plánovaní VEGA 1/0217/23 Moderné metódy a aktuálne zdroje dát pri detailnom výskume priestorovej štruktúry krajin

Has people's attitude towards voluntary or mandatory vaccination against COVID-19 affected their quality of life?

In: Clinical social work and health intervention. Wien : Internationale Gesellschaft für angewandte Präventionsmedizin i-gap, 2025. ISSN 2222-386X. Vol. 16, no. 1-2 (2025), pp. 162-177.In early 2021, the first vaccines against the COVID-19 disease were approved by drug registration authorities. Other vaccines were also approved a short time afterwards. The urgent need for vaccines meant that their development and testing did not proceed in the usual, time-consuming way. The vaccinations had the expected positive impact on the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, but at the same time they were rejected by a significant part of the population. The pressure of the government and health authorities to increase the number of vaccinated people caused backlash among opponents of vaccination, resulting in a strong social conflict. The rejection or acceptance of vaccination has several dimensions. The primary dimension is medical, and another is social. The result is escalated social conflict, which fortunately was short-lived in the case of the COVID-19 pandemic. The third dimension is the quality of life dimension, probably the most important dimension in the long term. The paper is focused on comparing supporters and opponents of vaccination in terms of their quality of life. It is based on the premise that a sharp but short-lived dispute between supporters and opponents of vaccination would not have lasting significant consequences in society if the quality of life of the members of the two groups was not significantly different and is influenced by the same predictors. If, on the other hand, the quality of life of supporters and opponents of vaccination was significantly different and influenced by different indicators, it suggests a significantly negative impact on their quality of life.VEGA 1/0578/24 Ekosystémové funkcie a služby v priestorovom plánovan
