En quête d’une éthique normative du numérique pour aborder le XXIe siècle : Care et/ou minimalisme moral ?
No full textCet article procède de la philosophie politique de l’éducation/formation et de l’éthique interdisciplinaire, dans une perspective appliquée. Il explore deux corpus importants dans le panorama contemporain de l’éthique normative, les théories du care et le minimalisme moral. Leurs avantages respectifs pour nourrir une éthique numérique orientant nos jugements et nos choix et nous offrir des ressources heuristiques et pratiques pour saisir les défis d’aujourd’hui et de demain, dans un monde numérique, sont discutés. Nous présentons d’abord de manière synthétique les propositions clés de l’éthique du care pour nous aider à penser aujourd’hui l’autonomie individuelle dans ce qu’elle a de vulnérable, singulier, conditionnée et complexe (1), et la manière dont cela peut se décliner en une éthique normative pratique et appliquée du numérique en particulier. Nous faisons ensuite de même pour l’éthique minimale (2). Nous envisageons enfin les conditions d’une dialectique entre ces éthiques (3), à l’horizon d’une prudence numérique (4).This article draws on the political philosophy of education/training and interdisciplinary ethics, from an applied perspective. It explores two important corpuses in the contemporary panorama of normative ethics : care theories and moral minimalism. Their respective advantages in nurturing a digital ethics to guide our judgments and choices, and in offering us heuristic and practical resources to grasp the challenges of today and tomorrow, in a digital world, are discussed.. We begin with a summary of the key propositions of the ethics of care to help us think about individual autonomy today in all its vulnerability, singularity, conditioning and complexity (1), and the way in which this can be translated into a practical and applied normative ethics of the digital world in particular. We then do the same for minimal ethics (2). Finally, we consider the conditions for a dialectic between these ethics (3), with a view to digital prudence (4)

No full textAvec l’essor de l’économie comportementale, les Nudges se sont largement répandus dans divers aspects de la société et du numérique. Récemment, les progrès combinés des technologies de l’IA et des connaissances scientifiques, notamment en psychologie, en sciences humaines et sociales et en neurosciences, ont donné naissance à un nouveau phénomène appelé « l’Hypernudging ». Ce dernier se distingue par un changement d’échelle dans sa capacité à agir sur les décisions des individus. L’objectif de cette recherche, menée selon une approche socio-anthropologique, est d’avoir une meilleure compréhension des questions éthiques que soulève ce couplage des Nudges et de l’IA dans les interactions humain-IA. Dans cette perspective, nous avons réalisé une revue de littérature approfondie sur le sujet et mené une enquête exploratoire auprès d’un échantillon composé d’étudiants et de professionnels évoluant dans différents secteurs d’activités tels que la banque, la finance, le marketing ou les médias ainsi qu’auprès de deux agences de communication spécialistes des Nudges. Il s’agissait d’examiner les enjeux épistémologiques et sociotechniques de l’Hypernudging et de les confronter au développement des Nudges IA dans les organisations pour en dégager des pistes de recherche pour leur régulation éthique.With the rise of behavioral economics, Nudges have become widespread in various aspects of society and in the digital world. Recently, the combined progress in AI technologies and scientific knowledge, particularly in psychology, social sciences and neuroscience, has given rise to a new phenomenon called “Hypernudging”, characterized by a change of scale in its ability to influence individuals' decision-making. The objective of this research, based on a socio-anthropological approach, is to better understand the ethical issues raised by the coupling of Nudges and AI in human-AI interactions. To this end, we conducted a literature review on the subject and carried out an exploratory survey with a sample of students and professionals working in various fields, such as banking, finance, marketing or media, as well as with two Nudge-specialist communication agencies. The aim was to examine the epistemological and sociotechnical implications of the Hypernudging and to confront them with the development of AI Nudges in organizations, in order to identify research avenues for their ethical regulation
L’Intelligence Artificielle et ses « contextes » : entre l’éthique et le politique
No full textCette contribution s’attachera d‘abord à examiner la manière dont la notion de contexte joue un rôle central dans l’histoire du numérique et de l’IA d’un côté et dans celle du droit relatif à la protection des données personnelles de l’autre, pour examiner ensuite la manière dont elle rejoue la conception de la subjectivité, de la normativité et de l’éthique. Nous montrerons comment cette évolution est parallèle à la mise en place de la gouvernementalité néolibérale ou de celle qualifiée plus récemment d’algorithmique, et comment il nous confronte à la portée non seulement éthique mais aussi politique de l’IA ubiquitaire. Notre démarche vise deux apports : une proposition complémentaire de classification des IA, qui repose sur l’évolution du rôle que le contexte joue dans l’action et l’éthos de l’utilisateur ; une heuristique renouvelée afin de saisir l’articulation entre l’opérationnalisation des systèmes et le maintien de l’autodétermination informationnelle ou, en d’autres mots, entre l’efficacité technique et la normativité sociale.This contribution will first examine the way in which the notion of context plays a central role in the history of the informatics and ubiquitous AI on the one hand, and in that of privacy and data protection on the other and, second, will examine the way in which this notion replays the conception of subjectivity, normativity and ethics. We will show how this evolution parallels the establishment of neoliberal - and more recently algorithmic - governmentality, and how it confronts us not only to the ethical but also to the political significance of ubiquitous AI. Our approach aims to make two contributions: a complementary proposal for the classification of AI, based on the evolving role that context plays in user's action and ethos; and a renewed heuristic to grasp the articulation between the operationalisation of AI systems and the preservation of informational autodetermination or, in other words, between technical efficiency and social normativity
Défragmenter notre personnalité par le dialogue art-science : pour une co-énonciation écologique, transformative et une éthique joyeuse, allant de soi
No full textA l’ère où il semble devenu évident pour beaucoup que l’humanité doive changer sa façon d’habiter la terre, des prédictions d’avenirs très distincts parcourent les réseaux et nos cerveaux. Dans une perspective immédiate de davantage de respect vis-à-vis de la nature, une question pragmatique peut s’ériger en chacun de nous : « que faire ? ». Dans une logique d’écologie de l’humain et de co-énonciation avec le vivant, cet article propose une piste possible vers l’émergence d’une éthique à l’échelle individuelle. Au-delà d’une anxiété paralysante, ou d’une action précipitée, peut-on penser une éthique rassurante, allant de soi ? Après l’examen des causes profondes de la crise écologique, l’idée proposée ici est qu’une co-énonciation avec le vivant, au service du vivant, pour la création d’un nouveau monde écologique, passe à l’échelle individuelle par une harmonie intérieure. Il s’agit alors de sortir de l’emprise des pièges d’un numérique débordant et d’effacer les dissonances internes que nos facettes scientifique et artistique peuvent avoir, dissonances parfois renforcées et/ou révélées par les arts numériques. Nous chercherons à montrer comment, en se réappropriant ces « désaccords intérieurs » et en pratiquant une démarche d’écologie introspective via l’art et la science, nous pouvons progressivement nous « défragmenter » par ce que l’on appellera via un élargissement de concept, une « co-énonciation intra-personnelle ». Par là même, des transformations salutaires pour le collectif humain et non humain s’opèrent. Parallèlement, la mise en place de qualités d’être impliquant le corps et l’esprit pour vivre la co-énonciation ouvre le chemin vers une éthique spontanée, joyeuse, allant de soi. Dans cette optique, les arts numériques deviennent un moyen d’expression créatif parmi d’autres, au service d’une co-énonciation écologique c'est-à-dire respectueuse de la nature, sans en être son substitut.In an age when it seems obvious to many people that humanity must change the way it inhabits the earth, predictions of very contrasted futures are running through the networks and our brains. In a short-term perspective of greater respect for nature, a pragmatic question may arise in each of us : "What should we do ?” In a logic of human ecology and co-enunciation with the living beings, this paper provides a possible path towards the emergence of an ethic at the individual scale. Beyond paralyzing anxiety and hasty action, can we think of a reassuring, self-evident ethic ? After examining the deep-rooted causes of the ecological crisis, the idea highlighted here is that, the co-enunciation with living beings, serving living beings, for the creation of a new ecological world, requires an individual-based inner harmony. It's a matter of escaping the traps of an overflowing digital world and erasing the internal dissonances between our scientific and artistic facets. These dissonances can be reinforced and/or revealed by the digital arts. We aim to show how, by the reappropriation of these "inner disagreements" and practicing an introspective ecology via art and science, we can gradually "defragment" ourselves through an "intra-personal co-enunciation“, so called by an expansion of concept. This step brings about beneficial transformations for the human and non-human collective. At the same time, the implementation of body-mind qualities of being during co-enunciation paves the way to a spontaneous, joyful and self-evident ethic. Within this context, the digital arts become a means of creative expression among others, serving an ecological co-enunciation, i.e. respectful of nature, without being a substitute for it
Quels leviers d’action complémentaires aux messages médiatiques sur les transitions sociétales ?
No full textFace à l’augmentation des risques climatiques mis en évidence depuis plusieurs décennies dans les rapports du GIEC et les médias, le Collège des transitions sociétales-CTS favorise l’engagement en partageant une culture sur les enjeux sociétaux. Proposant de sortir du formatage médiatique, CTS expérimente une démarche de coopération et des actions pilotes pour tenter d’accélérer les transitions. Nous avons suivi leur programme d’action-recherche entre fin 2021 et l’été 2023, caméra « au poing ». Cette étude empirique met en lumière plusieurs pistes d’analyse : la volonté de faire vivre des espaces de délibération comme leviers d’action nécessaires aux transitions avec une démarche réflexive ; l’émergence du film de recherche comme forme alternative et complémentaire aux médias ; la possibilité, pour les chercheurs en SIC, de participer à une médiation transformatrice qui « prend appui sur un dispositif hybride composé d’objets communicants et auquel l’intervention humaine donne une épaisseur sociale à la communication » (Caune, 1999)Faced with the increasing climate risks that have been highlighted for several decades in IPCC reports and the media, the College for Societal Transitions (CTS) is encouraging commitment by sharing a culture of societal issues. CTS is proposing a way out of media formatting, and is experimenting with a cooperative approach and pilot actions to try and accelerate transitions. We followed their action-research programme between the end of 2021 and the summer of 2023, camera in hand. This empirical study highlights a number of avenues for analysis : the desire to bring to life spaces for deliberation as levers for the action needed to bring about transitions with a reflexive approach ; the emergence of the research film as an alternative and complementary form to the media ; the opportunity for SIC researchers to take part in a transformative mediation process that "relies on a hybrid device made up of communicating objects and in which human intervention gives social substance to the communication" (Caune, 1999)
L'accessibilité numérique, une approche éthique en bibliothèque ? Une responsabilité à interroger : Enjeux, effets et intérêts pour les professionnels et les institutions.
No full textL’accessibilité numérique (AN), norme obligatoire, depuis 2009, pour les bibliothèques modifie la conception des interfaces des espaces documentaires numériques. Les institutions des bibliothèques tentent de réfléchir aux évolutions à apporter dans le parcours des usagers. La mission d’« égalité d'accès pour tous » des bibliothèques , conduit à questionner la dimension éthique qu’engage l’AN — recherche du bien-être d’autrui — pour les bibliothécaires (leurs manières d’agir). L’article cherche à étudier ce qui donne du sens à la mise en place de cette norme. Il est question d’interroger l’éthique de l’AN des espaces documentaires, ses enjeux définitionnels, ses effets auprès des professionnels et ses intérêts pour l’institution.Digital Accessibility (DA), a compulsory standard for libraries since 2009, is changing the design of interfaces for digital document areas. Library institutions are trying to think about the changes that need to be made to the user experience. The mission of libraries to provide 'equal access for all' raises questions about the ethical dimension of the DA - the search for the well-being of others - for librarians (and the way they act). The article looks at what gives meaning to the implementation of this standard. It examines the ethics of the NA of documentary spaces, its definitional issues, its effects on professionals and its interests for the institution
