    Measurement of the Inclusive tt¯ Cross Section in Final States with at Least One Lepton and Additional Jets with 302 pb−1 of pp Collisions at s = 5.02 TeV

    A measurement of the top quark pair (tt¯) production cross section in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV is presented. The data were collected at the LHC in autumn 2017, in dedicated runs with low-energy and low-intensity conditions with respect to the default configuration, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 302 pb−1. The measurement is performed using events with one electron or muon, and multiple jets, at least one of them being identified as originating from a b quark (b tagged). Events are classified based on the number of all reconstructed jets and of b-tagged jets. Multivariate analysis techniques are used to enhance the separation between the signal and backgrounds. The measured cross section is 62.5±1.6stat−2.5+2.6syst±1.2lumi pb. A combination with the result in the dilepton channel based on the same data set yields a value of 62.3 ± 1.5 (stat) ± 2.4 (syst) ± 1.2 (lumi) pb, to be compared with the standard model prediction of 69.5−3.7+3.5 pb at next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved

    Angular Analysis of the B0 → K*(892)0μ+μ- Decay in Proton-Proton Collisions at √s=13 TeV

The analysis is performed in six bins of the squared invariant mass of the dimuon system, q(2), over the range 1.1 < q(2) < 16 GeV2. The results are among the most precise experimental measurements of the angular observables for this decay and are compared to a variety of predictions based on the standard model.     Evaluation of the Effects of Dietitian Services Provided to Patients Receiving Home Healthcare Services from İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İMM) on Their Nutritional Status

    İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi (İBB) Güzeltepe ve Edirnekapı birimlerinde evde sağlık hizmeti alan hastalara verilen diyetisyenlik hizmetinin, hastaların beslenme durumu üzerindeki etkilerini değerlendirmek amacıyla yapılan bu çalışma, 22 erkek (%34,92) ve 41 kadın (%65,08) olmak üzere toplam 63 gönüllü katılımcı ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada, katılımcıların aldıkları enerji ve makro besin ögelerini belirleyebilmek amacıyla 24 saatlik besin tüketim kaydı ile temel Günlük Yaşam Aktiviteleri (GYA) bağımsızlık düzeylerini ölçmek için Modifiye Barthel İndeksi (MBI) ve beslenme durumu değerlendirmesi, malnütrisyon seviyesinin tespiti için ise Mini Nütrisyonel Değerlendirme (MNA) uygulanmıştır. MNA skorunda ilk ölçümde medyan 22 (12-25,5) ve ortalama 21,14 ± 3,33 iken, son ölçümde medyan 24 (14,5-27) ve ortalama 23,12 ± 3,11 olarak istatistiksel anlamlı bir artış gözlemlenmiştir. Bununla birlikte, MBI kategorilerindeki bağımlılık düzeylerine göre dağılımlar arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır. Beslenme durumları incelendiğinde her iki cinsiyette de başlangıçta enerji ve karbonhidrat tüketimin önerilenin üzerinde olduğu, son ölçümlerde ise enerji ve karbonhidrat tüketiminin azaldığı ve protein ile yağ miktarlarının arttığı yani enerji veren besin ögeleri miktar ve oranlarının dengelendiği görülmüştür. Ayrıca, MNA farkı ile proteinden gelen enerji (kkal) ve tüketilen protein miktarı (g) farkı arasında istatistiksel açıdan zayıf pozitif bir ilişki bulunmuştur (her iki değer aynı olup, r = 0,278; p = 0,028). MNA puanları ile su tüketim miktarı (ml) farkı arasında da istatistiksel zayıf pozitif bir ilişki gözlemlenmiştir (r = 0,281; p = 0,026). Bu çalışmanın sonucunda evde sağlık hizmeti alan hastalara sunulan diyetisyenlik hizmetinin, hastaların beslenme durumu üzerinde anlamlı ve olumlu etkiler sağladığı gözlemlenmiş olup, bu konuda yapılacak yeni çalışmalara ihtiyaç vardır.This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietetic services on the nutritional status of patients receiving home health care at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Güzeltepe and Edirnekapı units. A total of 63 voluntary participants, comprising 22 men (34.92%) and 41 women (65.08%), were included in the study. To assess participants' energy and macronutrient intake, a 24-hour dietary recall was utilized. Additionally, the Modified Barthel Index (MBI) was applied to determine the level of independence in Basic Activities of Daily Living (ADL), while the Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) was used to evaluate nutritional status and determine malnutrition levels. In the initial assessment, the median MNA score was 22 (12–25.5), with a mean of 21.14 ± 3.33, whereas in the final assessment, the median score increased to 24 (14.5–27), with a mean of 23.12 ± 3.11, indicating a statistically significant improvement. However, no significant difference was found in the distribution of dependency levels across MBI categories. An analysis of nutritional status revealed that, at baseline, both male and female participants had energy and carbohydrate intake levels exceeding recommended values. In the final assessment, energy and carbohydrate intake decreased, while protein and fat intake increased, leading to a more balanced distribution of energy-providing nutrients. Furthermore, a weak positive correlation was found between the difference in MNA scores and the difference in energy (kcal) derived from protein and protein intake (g) (both values: r = 0.278; p = 0.028). A weak positive correlation was also observed between the difference in MNA scores and the difference in water intake (ml) (r = 0.281; p = 0.026). In conclusion, this study demonstrated that dietetic services provided to patients receiving home health care had a significant and positive impact on their nutritional status. However, further research in this area is warranted

    Application of Nanofluids for Performance Improvement of Plate Heat Exchangers: A Comprehensive Review

    The demand for efficient thermal management in industries has driven research into nanofluids (NFs) as potential replacements for conventional heat transfer fluids (HTFs) in plate heat exchangers (PHEs). A key challenge is achieving higher heat transfer rates (HTRs) while minimizing pressure drop, which is crucial for improving energy efficiency in industrial processes. NFs are categorized into two types: simple (mono) NFs, such as single-walled (SWCNTs) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) dispersed in base fluids, and hybrid NFs, which combine multiple nanoparticles to enhance performance. Studies show that mono NFs improve thermal conductivity, increasing heat transfer coefficients by 6.18%–16.79%. However, their high viscosity and pressure drop remain challenges. In contrast, hybrid NFs demonstrate superior thermal performance, with heat transfer coefficient improvements of up to 39.16% and only a slight increase in pumping power. This suggests they offer an optimal balance between heat transfer enhancement and operational cost efficiency. Critical factors influencing performance include operating parameters, particle concentration, inlet temperature, and flow rate. Future research should explore nanoparticle shape and size through experimental and numerical studies, along with long-term stability and cost-effectiveness in industrial applications. Addressing these areas could unlock NFs' potential to revolutionize heat exchanger technology, leading to more efficient and sustainable thermal systems. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved

    The Role of Nanotechnology and Artificial Intelligence in Optimizing Thermal Energy Systems

    The growing demand for clean energy and the limitations of conventional thermal systems necessitates the integration of advanced technologies to enhance efficiency, adaptability, and sustainability. This review critically examines recent advancements in the application of nanotechnology and artificial intelligence for optimizing thermal energy systems, including solar collectors, heat exchangers, and latent heat storage units. Nanotechnology (particularly the use of nano-enhanced phase change materials and nanofluids such as Al2O3 and CuO) has shown to improve thermal conductivity by up to 28.8 %, accelerating energy absorption and storage rates. Concurrently, artificial intelligence algorithms, especially artificial neural networks and particle swarm optimization, enable predictive modelling, real-time system control, and fault detection, with some models achieving prediction accuracies above 97 % under complex operational conditions. The review emphasizes the synergistic potential of combining these technologies to create intelligent, self-regulating thermal energy systems. However, the paper also identifies critical challenges including computational overhead, cost of nanoparticle synthesis, lack of reproducibility in artificial intelligence implementations, and insufficient validation under extreme scenarios. Commercial deployment case studies (such as artificial intelligence-driven phase change material-based heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in smart buildings) are discussed to illustrate practical viability, reporting energy savings of up to 28 % with return-on-investment periods under three years. The paper concludes by proposing integrated research directions that combine multiscale material innovation with robust artificial intelligence training on dynamic datasets. This dual approach is essential to developing scalable, cost-effective, and resilient thermal energy systems capable of supporting global energy transitions.Science Citation Index Expande

The signal is assumed to produce jets with substructure atypical of jets initiated by light quarks or gluons, with minimal additional assumptions. Search regions are obtained by utilizing multivariate machine-learning methods to select jets with anomalous substructure. A collection of complementary anomaly detection methods-based on unsupervised, weakly supervised, and semisupervised algorithms-are used in order to maximize the sensitivity to unknown new physics signatures. These algorithms are applied to data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb-1, recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC, at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. No significant excesses above background expectations are seen. Exclusion limits are derived on the production cross section of benchmark signal models varying in resonance mass, jet mass, and jet substructure. Many of these signatures have not been previously sought, making several of the limits reported on the corresponding benchmark models the first ever.     Türk Sinemasında Film Müziği Besteciliği

    Film müzikleri, sinema izleyicisi ile sahneler arasındaki bağı kuvvetlendiren, sahneleri öne çıkartan ve filmin akılda kalıcılığını arttırmasını sağlamaktadır. Bu durumda film müziklerinin özgünlüğünün ve film müziği besteciliğinin öne çıkması kaçınılmaz olmuştur. Film müziklerinin ait olduğu filme özgü, konuya, zamana ve mekâna ilişkin olarak bestelenmesi, izleyiciler üzerindeki etkiyi arttırmaktadır. Bu tez çalışmasının ikinci bölümünde, Türk sinemasında film müziği besteciliğinin önemi üzerine araştırmalar yapılmış, film müziklerinin Dünya sineması ve Türk sinemasındaki gelişim süreçleri, önemi ve işlevlerinden bahsedilmiş, sesli sinema ve sessiz sinema dönemlerindeki gelişmeler sunulmuştur. Çalışmanın üçüncü bölümünde sinemanın Türkiye'ye gelişi, sesli ve sessiz sinema dönemi incelenmiştir. Dördüncü bölümde film müziklerinin film sahnelerindeki destekleyici rolü ele alınmıştır. Sahne ve senaryoya uygun bestelenen özgün film müziklerinin, Türkiye'de az kullanılmasının nedenleri sorgulanmıştır. Beşinci bölümde ise 50'li yıllardan, 80'li yıllara kadar film müziklerinin gelişimi, Türk sinemasında, film müziği besteciliği konusundaki çalışmalar incelenmiş, Türk film müziği bestecileri üzerinde araştırmalar yapılmış ve bu alandaki önemli besteciler tespit edilmiştir. Altıncı bölümde ise film müziğinin besteciliği, Dünyada ve Türkiye'deki yapısı, bestecilerin özgün film müziği yapımında, film için yapacakları besteleri oluştururken, nasıl bir yol izledikleri ve bu süreçte karşılaştıkları sorunlara değinilmiştir. Film müziğinin bestelenme aşamasındaki süreçleri incelenmiştir. Bu araştırma, Türk sinemasında film müziği besteciliğinin durumu ele alınarak, özgün film müziklerinin sinemadaki önemini vurgulamak amaçlanmıştır.Film soundtracks strengthen the bond between the cinema audience and the scenes, highlight the scenes and increase the memorability of the film. In this case, the originality of the soundtrack and the composition of the soundtrack came to the fore. The fact that the soundtracks are composed specific to the film they belong to, related to the subject, time, and place increases the effect on the audience. In the second part of this thesis, research has been done to show the significance of film music composition in Turkish cinema, the development processes, importance and functions of film soundtracks in world cinema and Turkish cinema are mentioned, and the developments in the sound cinema and silent cinema periods are presented. In the third part of the study, the arrival of cinema in Turkey and the period of sound and silent cinema are examined. In the fourth chapter, the supporting role of the soundtracks in the movie scenes is discussed. The reasons for the low use of original soundtracks composed in accordance with the stage and scenario in Turkey were questioned. In the fifth chapter, the development of film music from the 50s to the 80s, studies on film music composition in Turkish cinema were examined, researches were made on Turkish film music composers and important composers in this field were identified. In the sixth chapter, the composition of the soundtrack, its structure in the world and in Turkey, the way the composers followed in the production of the original soundtrack, while composing the compositions for the film, and the problems they encountered in this process were mentioned. Finally, the process of composing the soundtrack was examined.     Fuzzy Modeling of Fractional-Order Dental Caries System and Bifurcation Analysis

    Dental caries is a widespread public health concern influenced by biological, behavioral, and environmental factors. To better understand its progression, this study formulated a fuzzy fractional-order SEIR model. The Caputo fractional derivative was used to capture memory effects. Fuzzy membership functions, dependent on viral load, incorporated uncertainty in transmission, recovery, and disease-induced mortality rates. Equilibrium points were calculated, and the basic reproduction number was derived as a function of viral load. Stability analysis showed the disease-free equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable when R0(Lambda) 1. Bifurcation analysis with center manifold theory confirmed a forward bifurcation at the threshold R-0(Lambda) = 1. Existence and uniqueness of solutions were ensured through Lipschitz conditions. A fractional Adams-Bashforth scheme provided numerical approximations. Simulations illustrated how changes in fractional order and fuzzy parameters affect disease dynamics. The results showed fractional orders alpha < 1 delay infection peaks and flatten epidemic curves. Higher viral loads reduce recovery rates and increase lethality. The proposed framework captures realistic dynamics under uncertainty, giving valuable insights for designing effective treatment strategies and public health interventions against dental caries.Science Citation Index Expande

    Predictive and Global Effect of Active Smoker in Asthma Dynamics With Caputo Fractional Derivative

    Smoking is harmful to the lungs and has numerous effects on our bodies. This leads to decreased lung function, which increases the lungs’ susceptibility to asthma triggers. In this paper, we develop a new fractional-order model and investigate the impact of smoking on the progression of asthma by using the Caputo operator to analyze different factors. Using the Banach contraction principle, the existence and uniqueness of solutions are established, and the positivity and boundedness of the model are proved. The model further incorporates different stages of smoking to account for incubation periods and other latent effects, enhancing the accuracy of system dynamics. Within this Fractional operator framework, key analyses are performed, including the identification of equilibrium points, computation of the basic reproduction number, sensitivity analysis, and assessment of local and global stability with the Lyapunov function. Additionally, chaos stability employing linear response regulation is implemented mathematically, and the effect of the compartment shows through simulations. A numerical iterative method employing Newton polynomial interpolation is used to illustrate the effectiveness of the suggested model, and numerical simulations reveal its enhanced efficiency at various fractional orders. The fractional-order framework offers a more realistic representation than classical integer-order models. © © 2025 The Authors.Science Citation Index Expande
