    Space to Place, Housing to Home: A Systematic Review of Sense of Place in Housing Studies

    This study conducts a systematic qualitative review of empirical research on sense of place within housing contexts, employing the tripartite model of place identity, place attachment, and place dependence. The study employs an expanded model that captures the internal complexity of each indicator by integrating its cognitive, affective, and conative components, which represent the dimensions of human-place interaction. This model conceptualizes sense of place as a multidimensional construct, facilitating thematic synthesis and cross-study comparisons. A structured search of Scopus and Web of Science identified 10 studies that met predefined inclusion criteria. Additionally, eight studies with divergent conceptualizations of sense of place were narratively analyzed to explore the diversity of interpretations across disciplinary perspectives in housing research. The review yields three key findings: (1) The expanded tripartite model provides a framework for understanding the relationships between residents and housing. (2) Sense of place is both a criterion and a catalyst for housing sustainability. (3) The development of a sense of place is influenced by the interaction of physical, spatial, environmental, social, cultural, economic, and institutional housing factors.     Çocukluk Çağı Travmaları, Rüya Motifleri ve Uyku Kalitesi Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi

    Araştırmanın temel amacı, çocukluk çağı travmalarının, rüya motifleri ve uyku kalitesi ilişkisinin incelenmesi olup, bunların arasındaki ilişkilerin hangi yönde olduğunun tespit edilmesidir. Ayrıca bu üç değişkenin cinsiyet, yaş, eğitim düzeyi, medeni durum ve gelir düzeyi arasında anlamlı bir fark olup olmadığını incelemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda araştırmaya 397 katılımcı dahil edilmiştir. Araştırmada kullanılan sosyodemografik bilgi formu katılımcıların cinsiyet, yaş, eğitim düzeyi ve gelir düzeyi sorularından oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada çocukluk çağı travmalarının belirlenmesi için Çocukluk Çağı Ruhsal Travma Ölçeği, uyku kalitesinin ölçülmesi için Pittsburgh Uyku Kalite İndeksi, rüya motiflerinin belirlenmesi için Rüya Motifleri Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Ölçekler online ve yüz yüze olmak üzere katılımcılara uygulanmış olup edinilen veriler SPSS 25.0 paket programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Ölçek puanlarının normal dağılmadığı gözlenmiş ve bu kapsamda parametrik olmayan testler uygulanmıştır. Çocukluk çağı travması, rüya motifleri ve uyku kalitesi arasında ilişkinin olduğu görülmüştür. Uyku kalitesinin, uyku latansı ve uyku bozukluğunun cinsiyete göre, cinsel istismarın medeni duruma göre, duygusal ihmalin gelir düzeyine göre farklılaştığı görülmüştür. Çocukluk çağı travmaları ve alt boyutlarının; uyku kalitesi, gündüz işlev bozukluğu ve uyku bozukluğunun eğitim duruma göre farklılaştığı görülmüştür. Çocukluk çağı travmalarının, duygusal ihmal ve istismarın; uyku kalitesinin, gündüz işlev bozukluğu ve uyku bozukluğunun yaşa göre farklılaştığı görülmüştür. Araştırmada kuramsal ve kavramsal çerçevede tartışılmış ve veri analizlerine göre önerilerde bulunulmuştur.The main purpose of the research is to examine the relationship between childhood traumas, dream motifs and sleep quality and to determine the relationships between them and their effects on each other. In addition, it is to examine whether there is a significant difference between these three variables: gender, age, education level, marital status and income level. For this purpose, 397 participants were included in the research. The sociodemographic information form used in the research consists of questions about the participants' gender, age, education level and income level. In the study, the Childhood Psychological Trauma Scale was used to determine childhood traumas, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index was used to measure sleep quality, and the Dream Motifs Scale was used to determine dream motifs. The scales were applied to the participants online and face to face, and the obtained data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 package program. It was observed that the scale scores were not normally distributed and non-parametric tests were applied in this context. It has been observed that there is a relationship between childhood trauma, dream motifs and sleep quality. It has been observed that sleep quality, sleep latency and sleep disorders differ according to gender, sexual abuse according to marital status, and emotional neglect according to income level. Childhood traumas and their sub-dimensions; It has been observed that sleep quality, daytime dysfunction and sleep disorders differ according to educational status. Childhood traumas, emotional neglect and abuse; It has been observed that sleep quality, daytime dysfunction and sleep disorders vary according to age.     Classification of Morphological Variations of Mandibular Condyle in Panoramic Radiographs with a Deep Learning Approach

    Aim This study aims to employ the YOLO algorithm for the automatic classification of mandibular condylar morphology in panoramic radiographs. Materials and Methods A total of 1,056 panoramic radiographs, containing 2,112 healthy mandibular condyles, were used in the study. The dataset was split into training (similar to 80%), validation (similar to 10%), and test (similar to 10%) sets. Two experienced dentomaxillofacial radiologists annotated the training images and classified the condyles into four morphological categories: Round, Angled, Diamond, and Crooked Finger-shaped. The YOLOv8 deep learning model was trained using transfer learning, hyperparameter tuning, and fine-tuning techniques. Performance was assessed using metrics including precision, recall (sensitivity), F1-score, mean Average Precision (mAP), and training time. True positives, false positives, and false negatives were evaluated based on bounding box localization and class assignments. Results The model demonstrated balanced performance across classes in the training dataset. On the test dataset, the model achieved an overall F1-score of 0.769 and [email protected] of 0.786. The highest performance was observed for the Crooked Finger class (0.795 precision, 0.870 recall, 0.831 F1-score, 0.837 [email protected]) and the Angled class (0.723 precision, 0.860 recall, 0.786 F1-score, 0.808 [email protected]). The Round class showed moderate results with 0.677 precision, 0.870 recall, 0.761 F1-score, and 0.798 [email protected]. The Diamond class had the lowest performance, with 0.528 precision, 0.696 recall, 0.600 F1-score, and 0.661 [email protected]. Conclusion The model effectively distinguishes the Angled and Crooked Finger classes but faces challenges with the Diamond and Round classes. Despite varied performance, the model demonstrates balanced performance overall, providing a foundation for further refinement and optimization.Science Citation Index Expande

    The Relationship Between Nomophobia, Screen Addiction, Musculoskeletal Problems and Cardiovascular Risk Levels in University Students: A Cross-Sectional Study

    Aydin, Gamze/0000-0002-4952-2825;AimNomophobia, a new concept born out of digital addictions, refers to the anxiety and fear that individuals experience when they are away from their cell phones. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of nomophobia and screen addiction on musculoskeletal problems and cardiovascular risk in university students and to reveal the relationship between these parameters.Subjects and methodsThe study adopted a cross-sectional design and included 293 participants (mean age: 21.29 +/- 2.20 years, 76.1% female). The presence of nomophobia was assessed using the Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q); screen addiction was assessed using the Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Form (SAS-SF) and the Multiple Screen Addiction Scale (MSAS); musculoskeletal risk level was assessed using the Cornell Musculoskeletal Disorders Questionnaire (CMDQ); cardiovascular risk level was assessed using the Framingham Risk Score (FRS).ResultsParticipants had been using smartphones for 8.19 +/- 2.74 years, with a daily usage time of 6.64 +/- 3.38 h. The mean scores for NMP-Q, SAS, MSAS, and FRS were 74.51 +/- 31.74, 29.40 +/- 12.18, 39.37 +/- 13.14, and -1.16 +/- 5.00 respectively. The highest prevalence of musculoskeletal problems by body region was reported in the neck (71.7%), back (72.4%), and low back (68.6%). Significant differences were observed in the neck (p = 0.049) and back (p = 0.004), with severity increasing as nomophobia levels progressed. A significant positive correlation was found between NMP-Q scores and both SAS-SF (r = 0.560, p < 0.001) and MSAS (r = 0.468, p < 0.001). Regarding musculoskeletal pain, NMP-Q scores showed a significant positive correlation only with back pain (r = 0.166, p < 0.001).ConclusionThis study highlights the significant asSociation between nomophobia and musculoskeletal problems, particularly neck and back pain, among university students.Emerging Sources Citation Inde

Katılımcılara çevrimiçi olarak, Google Forms üzerinden, sosyo-demografik bilgi formu, Sosyal Medya Kullanım Amaçları Ölçeği, Yetişkin Yaşam Doyumu Ölçeği, Instagram'da Sosyal Karşılaştırma Ölçeği ve Beck Depresyon Envanteri uygulanmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında tüm veri analizleri SPSS 27.0 paket programı kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Analizler sonucunda ölçek puanlarının normal dağılımda oldukları gözlemlenmiş ve parametrik testler kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada sosyal medya kullanım amaçları, yaşam doyumu, depresyon ve Instagram'da sosyal karşılaştırma arasında anlamlı ilişkiler olduğu saptanmıştır. Sosyal medya kullanım amaçları yaşam doyumu üzerinde anlamlı bir etki göstermemiştir. Depresyon ve sosyal karşılaştırmanın yaşam doyumu üzerinde anlamlı etkileri gözlemlenmiştir. Ek olarak, sosyal medya kullanım amaçlarının tüm alt boyutlarında araştırma değişkenleri arasında karşılaştırmalar yapılmış ve anlamlı ilişkiler bulunmuştur. In this study, a total of 399 participants were included and various scales (Social Media Usage Motives Scale, Adult Life Satisfaction Scale, Social Comparison on Instagram Scale and Beck Depression Inventory) were used as data collection tools. The data was collected online via Google Forms. Data analyses were conducted using the SPSS 27.0 software. It was observed that the scale scores followed a normal distribution, thus parametric tests were employed. The study found significant relationships between social media usage motives, life satisfaction, depression and social comparison on Instagram. Social media usage motives did not present a significant effect on life satisfaction. On the other hand, depression and social comparison were found to have significant effects on life satisfaction. Further comparisons between the subdimensions of social media usage motives and the other research variables revealed significant relationships. Sociodemographic data were compared with research variables and significant and determining differences were identified. The research findings were discussed with theoretical and conceptual framework and lastly, recommendations for researchers and clinicians were provided

    Search for Heavy Long-Lived Charged Particles with Large Ionization Energy Loss in Proton-Proton Collisions at s = 13 TeV

    A search for heavy, long-lived, charged particles with large ionization energy loss within the silicon tracker of the CMS experiment is presented. A data set of proton-proton collisions at a center of mass energy at s = 13 TeV, collected in 2017 and 2018 at the CERN LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 101 fb−1, is used in this analysis. Two different approaches for the search are taken. A new method exploits the independence of the silicon pixel and strips measurements, while the second method improves on previous techniques using ionization to determine a mass selection. No significant excess of events above the background expectation is observed. The results are interpreted in the context of the pair production of supersymmetric particles, namely gluinos, top squarks, and tau sleptons, and of the Drell-Yan pair production of fourth generation (τ′) leptons with an electric charge equal to or twice the absolute value of the electron charge (e). An interpretation of a Z’ boson decaying to two τ′ leptons with an electric charge equal to 2e is presented for the first time.     Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Psychometric Validation of the Turkish Version of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Lesser Metatarsophalangeal-Interphalangeal Joint Scale

    Objective: Lesser toe disorders can cause significant functional impairment and pain, requiring reliable tools for outcome assessment. The American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) lesser metatarsophalangeal-interphalangeal (MTP-IP) joint scale is a clinician-based instrument frequently used in foot and ankle evaluations, yet no validated Turkish version exists. The aim of this study was to translate, culturally adapt, and evaluate the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the AOFAS lesser MTP-IP scale. Methods: The scale was translated following international cross-cultural adaptation guidelines. A total of 43 patients with various lesser-toe pathologies were assessed using the AOFAS lesser MTP-IP, foot and ankle ability measure (FAAM), visual analogue scale, and short form-12 (SF-12). Test-retest reliability was assessed by calculating intraclass correlation coefficients [ICC (2,1)] using a two-way mixed-effects model with absolute agreement; by assessing internal consistency via Cronbach's alpha; and by evaluating agreement using Bland-Altman analysis. Construct validity was tested by correlating AOFAS scores with FAAM and SF-12 subscales. Floor and ceiling effects were also analyzed. Results: The Turkish version demonstrated excellent test-retest reliability [ICC (2,1)=0.96] and acceptable internal consistency (alpha=0.76). Bland-Altman plots revealed no systematic bias. Strong correlations were observed with FAAM-activities of daily living (r=0.93) and FAAM-sports (r=0.75), whereas correlations with SF-12 physical component summary (r=0.34) and MCS (r=0.45) were weak but significant, which is consistent with the hypothesized convergent and divergent validity. A notable ceiling effect was identified in the AOFAS function and alignment domains, consistent with the high functional status and low pain levels reported by participants. Conclusion: The Turkish adaptation ofthe AOFAS lesser MTP-IP scale is a reliable and valid instrumentfor evaluating pain, function, and alignment in patients with lesser toe disorders. Its strong psychometric performance supports its use in both clinical and research settings, although the observed ceiling effect should be interpreted in the context of patient characteristics.Emerging Sources Citation Inde

    Study of Same-Sign W Boson Scattering and Anomalous Couplings in Events With One Tau Lepton from PP Collisions at TeV

    A first study is presented of the cross section for the scattering of same-sign W boson pairs via the detection of a τ lepton. The data from proton-proton collisions at the center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV were collected by the CMS detector at the LHC, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb−1. Events were selected that contain two jets with large pseudorapidity and large invariant mass, one τ lepton, one light lepton (e or μ), and significant missing transverse momentum. The measured cross section for electroweak same-sign WW scattering is times the standard model prediction. In addition, a search is presented for the indirect effects of processes beyond the standard model via the effective field theory framework, in terms of dimension-6 and dimension-8 operators. © The Author(s) 2025

    Rheb1 Signaling and the Fate of Pancreatic Β Cells: Toward a New Frontier in Diabetes Therapy

    A recent study in the World Journal of Diabetes by Yang et al explored how Rheb1 signaling influenced pancreatic beta cell fate and its potential as a therapeutic target. This invited commentary by a senior diabetes researcher discussed the findings of Yang et al in the context of current knowledge on beta cell biology, providing critical insight into the role of Rheb1 in beta cell survival and function and the prospects for diabetes treatment. Key outcomes of the study were interpreted alongside established literature on Rheb1- mechanistic target of rapamycin signaling in islet cells. Rheb1 emerges as a pivotal regulator of beta cell growth and insulin secretory function, aligning with evidence that beta cell-specific Rheb1 deletion impairs beta cell mass and glucose-stimulated insulin secretion. The commentary highlighted how modulating this pathway could preserve or restore the beta cell population in diabetes while cautioning about potential off-target effects (e.g. in alpha cells). Targeting Rheb1 signaling represents a promising new frontier in diabetes therapy to enhance beta cell resilience; however, a balanced approach addressing both its benefits and risks is essential. This letter discussed the scientific implications and future research directions needed to translate Rheb1 modulation into clinical application for diabetes.Science Citation Index Expande
