    Evaluation of Radiation Protection Knowledge and Attitudes of Health Services Vocational School Students Participating in Practice in Radiated Environments

    The use of new diagnostic and treatment methods in the field of health exposes many health workers to the dangers of ionizing radiation. In this study, the radiation protection knowledge and attitudes of the students of the Health Services Vocational School, which trains health technicians at the associate degree level, were evaluated by survey method. The research population consists of 123 students who are receiving education in the Radiotherapy and Medical Imaging Techniques programs of the Istanbul Okan University Health Services Vocational School and who are doing internship, practice or skill training in the radiation environments of hospitals. A survey consisting of 36 questions was prepared within the scope of the research and the survey questions were applied through face-to-face interviews. A significant relationship was found between the participants' internships in diagnostic radiology units such as fluoroscopy and scopy, which have high radiation intensity, and their knowledge levels. While a statistically significant difference was found between the programs in terms of the students' radiation protection knowledge (p<0,05), no such difference was observed in terms of their attitudes. © IJCESEN

Evdokimov, Olga/0000-0002-1250-8931; Garcia, Francisco/0000-0002-4023-7964A search for long-lived heavy neutral leptons (HNLs) using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb(-1) collected at root s = 13TeV with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC is presented. Events are selected with a charged lepton originating from the primary vertex associated with the proton-proton interaction, as well as a second charged lepton and a hadronic jet associated with a secondary vertex that corresponds to the semileptonic decay of a long-lived HNL. No excess of events above the standard model expectation is observed. Exclusion limits at 95% confidence level are evaluated for HNLs that mix with electron and/or muon neutrinos. Limits are presented in the mass range of 1-16.5 GeV, with excluded square mixing parameter values reaching as low as 2 x 10(-7).     Development of an Acoustic Conduction Mechanism of a Metamaterial for Underwater Environment Applications

    The reduction of engine noise is a challenging issue for devices that must operate silently. Noise is not only an annoyance, but it may also be utilized as a compass to identify clandestine vehicles, such as submarines. This is especially true when the stealthy vehicle in issue is involved. Traditional methods, such as identifying the source of the noise and taking the appropriate precautions to avoid it, could be used to regulate the noise level in a certain region. Due to the high mass density and low volume of the used materials, conventional construction techniques cannot be applied to underwater construction. It is crucial to develop innovative materials that have the potential to be employed in maritime applications. The study of acoustic metamaterials, which is currently a subject of significant attention because of its possible application in submarines, is frequently recognized as one of the most intriguing fields to have emerged in recent years. This chapter describes and highlights the benefits of acoustic metamaterials that have the potential to be utilized in submarines. Achieving high levels of sound absorption has been aided by the utilization of metamaterials, which are created by combining several materials of varying forms. The incorporation of numerous layers in the structure enhanced the material’s ability to absorb sound. Not only does the operation of the engine affect the level of background noise, but so do the characteristics of the numerous building components. Variations in engine speed and strain on the material cause a resonance effect, which is caused by the activation of the material’s intrinsic frequencies. Consequently, the use of sonar to pinpoint the precise location of submarines is fraught with danger.     Beslenme Danışmanlığı Alan Bireylerin Beslenme ve Besin Bilgi Düzeylerinin İncelenmesi: Yalova İli Örneği

    Bu çalışmada Yalova'da beslenme danışmanlığı alan bireylerin besin ve beslenme bilgi düzeylerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada besin bilgisi ve besin tercihleri konusu, gastronomi bilimi ile birlikte incelenmiştir. Gastronomi, besinlerin hazırlanması ve sunulmasının yanı sıra, beslenme ile doğrudan ilişkilidir. Beslenme, vücudun ihtiyaç duyduğu besinlerin alımını sağlarken, gastronomi estetik ve lezzetli bir deneyime dönüştürür. Gastronomi, sağlıklı beslenme alışkanlıklarını teşvik eder ve kültürel değerlerle uyumlu beslenme deneyimlerini oluşturur. Bu araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemi Yalova ilinde beslenme danışmanlığı alan 394 kişi oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada çevrimiçi anketle toplanan veriler SPSS 23 programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen verilere göre, temel beslenme puanı ile besin tercihi puanı arasında pozitif yönlü zayıf bir ilişki bulunmaktadır. 25-34 yaş arasında olanların temel beslenme puanları 18-24 yaş arasında olanlara göre daha düşüktür. 25-34 yaş arasında olanların besin tercihi puanları 45-54 yaş arasında olanlara göre daha düşüktür. Evlilerin besin tercihi puanları bekarlara göre daha yüksektir. Lise mezunu olanların besin tercihi puanları yüksek lisans mezunlarına göre daha yüksektir. Ayrıca lisans mezunu olanların besin tercihi puanları ilköğretim, lise ve ön lisans mezunlarına göre daha düşüktür. Bazen yüz yüze bazen çevrimiçi çalışanların besin tercihi puanları tamamen çevrimiçi çalışanlara göre daha düşüktür. Kronik rahatsızlığı olanların temel beslenme puanları olmayanlara göre daha düşüktür. Sigara kullananların besin tercihi puanları sigara içmeyenlere göre daha yüksektir. Alkol kullananların temel beslenme puanları alkol kullanmayanlara göre daha düşüktür. Analiz sonuçlarına göre cinsiyet, çalışma durumu, çocuk sayıları ve yaşam şekli grupları arasında temel beslenme ve besin tercihi anket puanları bakımından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunmamaktadır. Sonuç olarak, beslenme danışmanlığı alan bireylerin beslenme bilgisi ve besin tercihleri, yalnızca yaş, eğitim durumu gibi demografik faktörlerden değil, aynı zamanda bireylerin yaşam tarzı, sağlık durumu ve çevresel faktörlerden de etkilenmektedir. Bu çalışmanın topluma katkısı, bireylerin beslenme alışkanlıkları ve sağlık bilincine yönelik farkındalık yaratılması açısından önemlidir. Çalışma, demografik faktörlerin beslenme alışkanlıkları üzerindeki etkilerini ortaya koyarak, kişisel sağlık yönetiminde daha bilinçli ve hedeflenmiş yaklaşımların geliştirilmesine katkı sağlayabilir. Bu tür araştırmalar, toplumda sağlıklı beslenme alışkanlıklarının teşvik edilmesine ve daha sağlıklı bir toplum yapısının oluşmasına katkıda bulunabilir.This study aims to examine the food and nutrition knowledge levels of individuals receiving nutrition counseling in Yalova. The topics of food knowledge and food preferences are explored in conjunction with the science of gastronomy. Gastronomy is directly related to nutrition, as it involves not only the preparation and presentation of food but also the intake of necessary nutrients. While nutrition ensures the consumption of nutrients required for the body's functions, gastronomy transforms these elements into an aesthetic and flavorful experience. Gastronomy promotes healthy eating habits and creates dining experiences that align with cultural values. In this research, a relational survey model, a quantitative research method, was used. The sample of the study consisted of 394 individuals receiving nutrition counseling in Yalova. Data collected through an online survey were analyzed using SPSS 23 software. According to the findings, there is a weak positive correlation between the basic nutrition score and the food preference score. The basic nutrition scores of individuals aged 25-34 are lower than those of individuals aged 18-24. The food preference scores of individuals aged 25-34 are lower than those of individuals aged 45-54. Married individuals have higher food preference scores compared to single individuals. High school graduates have higher food preference scores than those with a master's degree. Furthermore, bachelor's degree holders have lower food preference scores compared to those with primary school, high school, and associate degrees. Those who work both face-to-face and online have lower food preference scores than those who work entirely online. Individuals with chronic conditions have lower basic nutrition scores compared to those without. Smokers have higher food preference scores than non-smokers. Alcohol users have lower basic nutrition scores than non-users. According to the analysis results, no statistically significant differences were found between gender, employment status, number of children, and lifestyle groups in terms of basic nutrition and food preference survey scores. In conclusion, the food knowledge and food preferences of individuals receiving nutrition counseling are influenced not only by demographic factors such as age and education level but also by lifestyle, health status, and environmental factors. The contribution of this study to society is significant in terms of raising awareness about individuals' eating habits and health consciousness. By highlighting the effects of demographic factors on eating habits, the study may contribute to the development of more conscious and targeted approaches to personal health management. Such studies can contribute to promoting healthy eating habits in society and fostering a healthier societal structure

    Nutritional Barriers Scale in Breast Cancer Patients: Development, Validity and Reliability

    Meme kanseri hastalarının beslenme engellerinin değerlendirilmesi, genel yaşam kalitelerini arttırmak ve sağlık durumlarını geliştirmek için stratejik ipuçları sunabilir. Bu araştırma kapsamında Beslenme Engelleri Ölçeği (BEÖ)'nin geliştirilmesi ve meme kanseri hastaları için geçerlik ve güvenilirliğinin incelenerek yeni bir ölçüm aracı olarak tanıtılması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma, Kasım 2023-Mayıs 2024 tarihleri arasında 190 gönüllü meme kanseri hastası ile yürütülmüştür. Katılımcılara BEÖ ve Evde Sağlıklı Beslenme Engelleri Ölçeği (ESBEÖ) uygulanmış, test-tekrar test güvenilirliği için ise 50 katılımcıya ilk uygulamadan iki hafta sonra BEÖ tekrarlanmıştır. Kapsam geçerlik indeksi %93 olarak hesaplanan BEÖ toplam 14 maddeden oluşmaktadır. Açıklayıcı Faktör Analizi (AFA) sonucu 'Sağlıklı Beslenmede Bilgi, Beceri ve Destek Yetersizliği; Sağlıklı Beslenmede Algılanan Zorluklar, Yeme Davranışlarında Kolaylık ve Geleneksellik Sorunları' olmak üzere 3 alt faktör altında toplanmıştır. Doğrulayıcı Faktör Analizi (DFA) sonuçlarına göre, RMSEA (0,097) ve SRMR (0,061) uyum indeksleri yeterli düzeyde bulunmuştur. Ölçeğin Cronbach's Alpha güvenilirlik katsayısı 0,870 (üç alt faktör için sırasıyla 0,808, 0,768 ve 0,707) olarak hesaplanmıştır. Test-tekrar test güvenilirliği için sınıf içi korelasyon katsayısı 0,964 (üç alt faktör için sırasıyla 0,929, 0,957 ve 0,955) bulunmuştur. BEÖ ile ESBEÖ arasındaki pozitif korelasyon ölçüt geçerliği için sınanan eş zamanlı geçerliği desteklemiştir. Meme kanseri hastalarında aktif tedavi döneminin ardından takip sürecinde sağlıklı beslenmenin önündeki engelleri değerlendirmek için kolay, ucuz ve tekrar edilebilir bir değerlendirme aracı sürecin daha kolay yönetilmesini sağlayabilir. Bu araştırmanın sonucunda, meme kanseri hastaları için geliştirilmiş ilk beslenme engelleri ölçeği olan BEÖ'nin geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğu belirlenmiştir.Evaluating the nutritional barriers of breast cancer patients can provide strategic insights to improve their overall quality of life and enhance their health status. This study aimed to develop the Nutrition Barriers Scale (NBS) and examine its validity and reliability as a new measurement tool for breast cancer patients. The study was conducted between November 2023 and May 2024 with 190 volunteer breast cancer patients. Participants completed the NBS and the Home Healthy Nutrition Barriers Scale (HHNBS), and for test-retest reliability, 50 participants repeated the NBS two weeks after the initial application. The content validity index of the NBS was calculated as 93%, and the scale consists of 14 items. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) revealed three subfactors: 'Lack of Knowledge, Skills, and Support in Healthy Eating; Perceived Challenges in Healthy Eating; and Issues of Convenience and Traditionalism in Eating Behaviors.' Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) showed that the fit indices, RMSEA (0.097) and SRMR (0.061), were at acceptable levels. The Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient of the scale was 0.870 (0.808, 0.768, and 0.707 for the three subfactors, respectively). The intra-class correlation coefficient for test-retest reliability was 0.964 (0.929, 0.957, and 0.955 for the three subfactors, respectively). The positive correlation between the NBS and HHNBS supported concurrent validity for criterion validity. A simple, cost-effective, and reproducible assessment tool like the NBS can facilitate better management of nutritional barriers in breast cancer patients during the follow-up period after active treatment.     Lumbal Disk Hernili Hastalarda Reformer Pilates ile Konvansiyonel Fizyoterapi Rehabilitasyon Uygulamalarının Etkinliğinin Karşılaştırılması

    Bu çalışma, 6 haftalık reformer pilates programı ile konvansiyonel fizyoterapi rehabilitasyon programının lumbal disk hernili hastalarda ağrı seviyesi, yorgunluk, uyku kalitesi, anksiyete, kinezyofobi ve yaşam kalitesi üzerindeki etkilerini karşılaştırmayı amaçladı. Çalışmaya, 21-50 yaş arası 60 hasta katıldı ve bu hastalar randomizasyonla iki gruba ayrıldı. İlk grup, haftada iki kez 45-50 dakika süren 12 seanslık bir pilates egzersiz programına ve ikinci grup ise haftada beş gün 45-50 dakika süren 30 seanslık konvansiyonel fizyoterapi programına alındı. Ağrı, McGill-Melzack Ağrı Anketi ile; yorgunluk şiddeti, Yorgunluk Şiddeti Ölçeği ile; uyku kalitesi Pittsburgh Uyku Kalitesi İndeksi ile; anksiyete seviyesi, Beck Anksiyete Envanteri ile; kinezyofobi seviyesi, Tampa Kinezyofobi Ölçeği ile ve yaşam kalitesi SF-36 ile değerlendirildi. Değerlendirmeler tedavi öncesi ve sonrası olmak üzere iki kez yapıldı. Tedavi sonrası karşılaştırmalarda, reformer pilates grubunda ağrı seviyelerinde ve geleneksel fizyoterapi grubunda yorgunluk seviyelerinde anlamlı farklılıklar bulundu. Grup içi değişikliklerde, pilates grubunda ağrı, yorgunluk, kinezyofobi ve fiziksel fonksiyon alt boyutunda; fizyoterapi grubunda ise yorgunluk, anksiyete ve kinezyofobi skorlarında anlamlı iyileşmeler gözlendi. Sonuç olarak, reformer pilates bel fıtığı rehabilitasyonunda ağrı yönetimi için etkili bir seçenekken, geleneksel fizyoterapi yorgunluk yönetiminde daha güçlü bir etki gösterdi. Her iki yöntem de yorgunluk ve kinezyofobi yönetiminde etkiliydi ve en uygun program hastaların bireysel ihtiyaçlarına göre seçilmelidir sonucuna varıldı. Anahtar Kelimeler: Ağrı Yönetimi, Konvansiyonel Fizyoterapi, Lumbal Disk Hernisi, Reformer Pilates, Yorgunluk.This study aimed to compare the effects of a 6-week reformer pilates program and a conventional physiotherapy rehabilitation program on pain level, fatigue, sleep quality, anxiety, kinesiophobia, and quality of life in patients with lumbar disc herniation. Sixty patients aged 21-50 participated in the study and were randomly divided into two groups. The first group participated in a pilates exercise program for 12 sessions, twice a week, with each session lasting 45-50 minutes. The second group received a conventional physiotherapy program for 30 sessions, five days a week, with each session lasting 45-50 minutes. Pain was assessed using the McGill-Melzack Pain Questionnaire; fatigue severity using the Fatigue Severity Scale; sleep quality using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index; anxiety level using the Beck Anxiety Inventory; kinesiophobia level using the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia; and quality of life using the SF-36. Evaluations were conducted twice, before and after treatment. Post-treatment comparisons revealed significant differences in pain levels in the reformer pilates group and fatigue levels in the conventional physiotherapy group. Intra-group changes showed significant improvements in pain, fatigue, kinesiophobia, and the physical function sub-dimension of quality of life in the pilates group; and in fatigue, anxiety, and kinesiophobia scores in the physiotherapy group. In conclusion, reformer pilates was found to be an effective option for pain management in the rehabilitation of patients with lumbar disc herniation, while conventional physiotherapy showed a stronger effect in managing fatigue. Both methods were effective in managing fatigue and kinesiophobia, and the most suitable program should be selected based on the individual needs of the patients.     Mxenes for Exosome Detection: A New Frontier in Biomolecular Analysis

    Exosomes, the small extracellular vesicles secreted by cells, hold immense potential as biomarkers for disease diagnosis, monitoring, and therapeutic development. MXenes and their composites have emerged as promising materials for exosome detection, showcasing remarkable attributes such as remarkable electrical conductivity, mechanical flexibility, large surface area, and tunable surface chemistry. These characteristics position MXenes as optimal candidates for biosensing applications, enabling the effective capture and analysis of exosomes, which are vital in cell communication and disease progression. However, significant challenges persist in the practical use of MXenes for exosome detection, notably pertaining to the reproducibility and stability of these materials in diverse biological environments. Furthermore, optimizing MXene functionalization for selectivity towards specific exosomes remains an ongoing task. Recent innovations, including hybrid MXene-based sensors integrated with nanomaterials and machine learning algorithms for data analysis, promise significant improvements in detection accuracy and real-time monitoring capabilities, paving the way for accessible point-of-care diagnostic devices. This review delves into the transformative applications of MXenes and their composites in exosome detection, emphasizing their unique properties that enhance biosensing capabilities.     Evolution, Trends, and Future Research Directions of Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage-A Comprehensive Bibliometric and Systematic Review

In this work, a comprehensive review of studies on CCUS published from 2010 to 2023 was analysed. The study analysed 4943 documents from various publications in the Scopus database, focusing on research concepts published from 2010 to 2023. The "R" package was used to identify and visualize emerging themes and examine the papers based on these themes. The literature highlights challenges in carbon capture research, such as variable cost and the need for advancements in capture processes and liquid solvent performance. Hybrid technologies integrating adsorption and separation methods are suggested for future studies. According to the analysis, interest and research on CCUS increased by 15.84 %, with 13,799 authors and a high percentage of international co-authorship. China leads CCUS research with 6431 documents.Science Citation Index Expande

    From carotene-rich waste-to-food: Extraction, food applications, challenges and opportunities

    Background: Food waste products of industrial processing pose environmental and economic problems. Although there are existing studies in the current literature regarding the evaluation of carotene-rich waste, there is a need for innovative and up-to-date information on the valorization of these wastes. Scope and approach: This article aims to provide an extensive approach to food waste valorization, extraction of carotenoids from waste including potential sources of functional food ingredients, food applications, and life cycle assessment in terms of carotene-rich wastes. Key findings and conclusions: Recovery of carotene from food waste is an important strategic aim in terms of a sustainable agriculture system and the development of functional foods and natural food colorants. In this sense, various green extraction techniques are used for high yields and the best quality carotenoids. Combining green extraction methods including pulsed electric field (PEF) and ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) or pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) and supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) may be an efficient approach. However, research on the extended applications of these carotenoid-rich extracts is scarce, so future studies should focus on their potential use in various food materials.     Bu çalışma, musıkîmizdeki tarihsel kökleri XIX. yüzyıl Osmanlı müzik kültürüne dayanan İstanbul kemençesinin başlangıç seviyesinde sistematik öğretim için bir yöntem önerisi geliştirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Teknik açıdan zengin bir çalgı olan İstanbul kemençesi, zamanla icrâ geleneğini korurken modern eğitim anlayışına uygun yöntemlere olan ihtiyacı daha belirgin hale getirmiştir. Ancak, çalgının öğretiminde karşılaşılan zorluklar ve kaynak eksiklikleri, eğitim sürecini zorlaştırmaktadır. Çalışmanın temel odak noktası, yeni başlayan öğrencilerin çalgıyı tanıma ve icrâ becerilerini geliştirme sürecinde karşılaştıkları zorluklara yönelik pratik ve anlaşılır bir çözüm sunmaktır. Önerilen yöntem, parmak pozisyonları, yay teknikleri ve temel repertuvar seçimi gibi konuları içermekte, öğrencinin teknik becerilerini desteklemeyi ve müzikal algısını geliştirmeyi de hedeflemektedir. Bu çalışma, başlangıç seviyesindeki öğrenciler için bir rehber, İstanbul kemençesi eğitimcileri için ise alternatif bir kaynak olmayı amaçlamaktadır. Elde edilen bulgular, çalgının eğitimine dair yeni bir perspektif sunarken, Türk müziği eğitiminin geneline katkı sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır.This study aims to develop a method proposal for the systematic teaching of the Istanbul kemence at the beginner level, which has its historical roots in the 19th century Ottoman music culture. The Istanbul kemence, which is a technically rich instrument, has made the need for methods suitable for modern education understanding more evident while preserving the tradition of performance over time. However, the difficulties encountered in the teaching of the instrument and the lack of resources make the education process difficult. The main focus of the study is to provide a practical and understandable solution to the difficulties encountered by beginner students in the process of recognising the instrument and developing their performance skills. The proposed method includes topics such as finger positions, bowing techniques and basic repertoire selection, and aims to support the student's technical skills and improve his/her musical perception. In addition to being a guide for beginner students, this study is planned to have the potential to be a reference source for kemençe educators. While the findings obtained offer a new perspective on the education of the instrument, it aims to contribute to Turkish Music education in general
