    No full text

In this paper, the new modification of the Sardar sub-equation method is used to generate a wide variety of exact solutions for the (2 + 1)-dimensional Konopelchenko{Dubrovsky system. We focus on investigating the Konopelchenko{Dubrovsky equation, which serves as a mathematical model for studying nonlinear waves in the field of mathematical physics. This equation specifically captures the behavior of waves with weak dispersion, allowing us to explore the intricate dynamics and characteristics associated with such wave phenomena. By delving into the properties and solutions of this system, we aim to deepen our understanding of nonlinear wave propagation and its implications in the broader field of mathematical physics. The exact solutions generated through this modified method provide valuable insights into the propagation and interaction of waves with weak dispersion in the system. The obtained novel solutions are expressed as hyperbolic, and trigonometric functions. The proposed model successfully constructs various types of solutions, including singular, dark, bright, trigonometric, periodic, dark{bright, exponential, and hyperbolic. These solutions are presented with appropriate parameter values in both 3D and 2D graphics. © 2025 World Scientific Publishing Company.Science Citation Index Expande

Kutuk Omeroglu, Merve/0000-0002-0253-4212; Cam, Melek/0000-0003-4380-0852Background The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of different surface treatments and adhesives on shear bond strength (SBS) in the repair of composite resin restorations. Methods In this study, 60 discs (2 mm x 10 mm) were prepared using a universal nanohybrid composite resin (GrandioSo, Voco, Germany). The discs were aged by exposure to 5000 thermal cycles between 5 and 55 degrees C for 30 s with an immersion procedure. Then samples were divided into 3 groups (n:20) according to the surface treatments (Group 1: no surface treatment, Group 2: roughening by bur, Group 3: roughening by Er, Cr: YSGG laser). Subsequently, the specimens were classified into two groups (n:10) according to the adhesive systems; a two-step self-etch adhesive (Clearfil SE bond (SE)), or a universal adhesive (Scotchbond Universal Plus (SB)). After surface treatments and adhesive applications, the same universal nanohybrid composite resin with a height of 2 mm and a diameter of 3 mm was placed in the center of the samples. The samples were then submitted to the SBS test using universal testing equipment (Autograph AGS-X; Shimadzu, Kyoto, Japan) with a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. The failure modes were examined using a stereomicroscope. The surface topography of the roughened and fractured surfaces resin composite (n = 1) was assessed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Analyses were performed using IBM SPSS 25 programme (p 0.05). Similarly, in the SB adhesive group, there were no significant differences among the surface roughening procedures (p = 0.078). Additionally, no significant differences were observed between the adhesives according to various surface roughening procedures. The failure mode was predominantly cohesive in old composites. Conclusion The bond strength can be improved by surface treatments such as diamond burs, Er, Cr: YSGG laser application for better bonding strategies in the repair of nanohybrid resin composite restorations. There was no statistically significant difference in bond strength between the adhesives tested in this study.Science Citation Index Expande

Sawaran Singh, Narinderjit Singh/0000-0001-7067-5239; Baghoolizadeh, Mohammadreza/0000-0002-3703-0866The present research work develops a new approach for the optimization of thermostat setting and insulation designs in residential buildings located in various Iranian climates, including hot-humid, arid, temperate, and cool regions. The objective functions are set to minimize the construction cost, consumed electricity cost, and PPD to improve thermal comfort. Advanced computational techniques are integrated in a structured way to achieve the mentioned objectives. Numerical modeling is done through the simulation of building energy performance and thermal comfort using EnergyPlus. The exact mathematical relations between design variables and objective functions, which were heating setpoint and cooling setpoint, insulation thickness, and thermal conductivity, were identified using Multi-Polynomial Regression. MPR model has been validated respect to a wide set of statistical measures that included but were not limited to R2, RMSE, and MAE for its high predictive accuracy. Then, multi-objective optimization is performed through NSGA-II, a well-known multi-objective optimization algorithm, which provides a Pareto front of optimal solutions balancing energy efficiency, cost, and comfort. Shannon's entropy method assigns weights to the Pareto-optimal solutions, whereas the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to the Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) selects the most suitable configurations for each city. Calculations show a great reduction in energy consumption to up to 82.66% at Bandar Abbas, with very important improvements in comfort, where the PPD is reduced between 31.1% to 56.3%. The predictive capacity of the MPR model was confirmed by this study, from the value of R2, close to 1. The cost-effectiveness of the proposed solutions is underlined by minimizing construction and energy costs while preserving occupant comfort. This innovative approach adapts optimization strategies to regional climatic characteristics, providing practical solutions for sustainable and cost-effective building designs. The integration of advanced machine learning and genetic algorithms offers a scalable framework for future energy-efficient construction practices worldwide, contributing to reduced carbon footprints and enhanced occupant well-being. By addressing the limitations of previous studies and introducing a clear, structured methodology, this research provides valuable insights and practical tools for optimizing residential building performance in diverse climates.Natural Science Foundation of Hunan Province of China [2024JJ8332]; Foundation of Ministry of Education of China [HZKY20220364]; Foundation of Hu'nan Educational CommitteeThis work is supported by Natural Science Foundation of Hunan Province of China (2024JJ8332) , Foundation of Ministry of Education of China (HZKY20220364) and Foundation of Hu'nan Educational Committee.Science Citation Index Expande

Anahtar Kelimeler: Çeviri, yapısöküm, Derrida, Ella Minnow Pea, Mark DunnThis study examines the reconstructive nature of the translation process within the framework of Jacques Derrida's deconstructive approach, using Mark Dunn's Ella Minnow Pea as a case study. The novel serves as an ideal example in this context due to its linguistic constraints and the creative translation challenges it poses. The thesis analyzes the French (2013), Italian (2008), and German (2004) translations of the novel, exploring the challenges faced by the translators and the strategies they employed. Subsequently, translation attempts of the novel into Turkish are presented. These analyses demonstrate that the translator is not merely a mediator but also a re-interpreter and re-creator of the text. Can Super Resolution via Deep Learning Improve Classification Accuracy in Dental Radiography

    No full text
Objectives Deep learning-driven super resolution (SR) aims to enhance the quality and resolution of images, offering potential benefits in dental imaging. Although extensive research has focused on deep learning based dental classification tasks, the impact of applying SR techniques on classification remains underexplored. This study seeks to address this gap by evaluating and comparing the performance of deep learning classification models on dental images with and without SR enhancement. Methods An open-source dental image dataset was utilized to investigate the impact of SR on image classification performance. SR was applied by 2 models with a scaling ratio of 2 and 4, while classification was performed by 4 deep learning models. Performances were evaluated by well-accepted metrics like structural similarity index (SSIM), peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), accuracy, recall, precision, and F1 score. The effect of SR on classification performance is interpreted through 2 different approaches. Results Two SR models yielded average SSIM and PSNR values of 0.904 and 36.71 for increasing resolution with 2 scaling ratios. Average accuracy and F-1 score for the classification trained and tested with 2 SR-generated images were 0.859 and 0.873. In the first of the comparisons carried out with 2 different approaches, it was observed that the accuracy increased in at least half of the cases (8 out of 16) when different models and scaling ratios were considered, while in the second approach, SR showed a significantly higher performance for almost all cases (12 out of 16). Conclusion This study demonstrated that the classification with SR-generated images significantly improved outcomes. Advances in knowledge For the first time, the classification performance of dental radiographs with improved resolution by SR has been investigated. Significant performance improvement was observed compared to the case without SR. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.Science Citation Index Expande

Some Novel Analyses of the Fractional-Order Covid-19 Model Using the Haar Wavelets Method

    No full text
In this research article, we investigate a COVID-19 model of fractional-order defined in terms of functional shape with square root susceptible-infected interaction. Firstly, we simulate the positivity and boundedness of the solution and then calculate the nature of equilibria. For exploring the dynamics of investigated fractional-order model, we use the Hurwitz criterion and then a graph theoretical method for the derivation of a Lyapunov function. For the given model, a unique solution exists under the results of the fixed-point theory. We use the Harr wavelets method to derive the numerical solution of the investigated model. As a result, some graphical illustrations are used to ensure the theoretical results, which indicates the good agreement between numerical illustrations and theoretical findings. The motivation of this article is to show how the given square root susceptible-infected interaction model effectively explores the outbreaks of COVID-19 at various fractional-order values. The inclusion of the Caputo fractional derivative incorporates the memory effects in the proposed model. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature India Private Limited 2025

Measurements of Inclusive and Differential Cross Sections for Top Quark Production in AsSociation with a Z Boson in Proton-Proton Collisions at s = 13 TeV

    No full text
Measurements are presented of inclusive and differential cross sections for Z boson asSociated production of top quark pairs (tt¯Z) and single top quarks (tZq or tWZ). The data were recorded in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb−1. Events with three or more leptons, electrons or muons, are selected and a multiclass deep neural network is used to separate three event categories, the tt¯Z and tWZ processes, the tZq process, and the backgrounds. A profile likelihood approach is used to unfold the differential cross sections, to account for systematic uncertainties, and to determine the correlations between the two signal categories in one global fit. The inclusive cross sections for a dilepton invariant mass between 70 and 110 GeV are measured to be 1.14 ± 0.07 pb for the sum of tt¯Z and tWZ, and 0.81 ± 0.10 pb for tZq, in good agreement with theoretical predictions. © The Author(s) 2025.Ministry of Education and Science, MES; Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, BUAP; Center for African Studies, CAS; Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, FCT; Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, DAE; PCTI; National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, NASU; National Science and Technology Development Agency, NSTDA; Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities; MSES; Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, MOE; National Science Foundation, NSF; Missouri University of Science and Technology, MST; Institut National de Physique Nucléaire et de Physique des Particules, IN2P3; Science and Technology Facilities Council, STFC; F.R.S.-FNRS; Council of Science and Industrial Research; Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional, CINVESTAV; Ministério da Educação e Ciência, MEC; MEYS; Fundação Carlos Chagas Filho de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, FAPERJ; Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, MCIN; Universiti Malaya, UM; Bundesministerium für Bildung, Wissenschaft und Forschung, BMBWF; FAIR; National Science Council, NSC; Ministry of Science,Technology and Research, MoSTR; Hispanics in Philanthropy, HIP; Hungarian Academy of Sciences; Secretaría de Educación Pública, SEP; Austrian Science Fund, FWF; Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, India, DST; Chulalongkorn Academic; Consejo Nacional de Humanidades, Ciencias y Tecnologías; ERDF; Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, CNRS; Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF; Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek, FWO; Türkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu, TUBITAK; LMTLT; Research Council of Finland, AKA; Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico, CNPq; Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, PAEC; Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior, CAPES; California Earthquake Authority, CEA; Türkiye Enerji, Nükleer ve Maden Araştırma Kurumu, TENMAK; Nvidia Corporation; Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation; Belgian Federal Science Policy Office; Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG; LNS; Alfred P. Effect of Atomic Porosity on the Mechanical Properties of Aluminium Polycrystalline Using Molecular Dynamics Simulation

    No full text
Materials with polycrystals are employed to produce parts that can withstand a range of forces, extreme temperatures, and harsh conditions. The behavior of crystal groups can vary depending on the arrangement of their atoms. Understanding the movement of molecules is crucial in comprehending the behavior of polycrystals. The resistance and durability of the crystals may be influenced by adjusting their configuration. By combining these elements, their longevity can be extended. The strength, flexibility, and environmentally friendly nature of aluminium composite materials make them popular. Knowing how the porosity in the aluminium can influence its durability is essential. Engineers are applying this research to develop strong aluminium in harsh conditions. Investigating the influence of porosity in materials can lead to the production of more robust aluminium parts. In the present study, the effect of atomic porosity on the mechanical properties of aluminium polycrystals is examined using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. The results show that at a porosity ratio of 20 %, the ultimate strength and Young's modulus of material increase from 6.563 to 27.175 GPa to 6.749 and 29.720 GPa, respectively, due to the optimization of atomic arrangement and fluctuations within the porous sample. However, as the porosity ratio increased to 60 %, the ultimate strength and Young's modulus decrease to 5.064 and 19.649 GPa, respectively, due to the increased porosity and reduced load-bearing atoms. Understanding the influence of porosity on the mechanical properties of aluminium polycrystals is crucial for improving the durability and longevity of aluminum-based components.Emerging Sources Citation Inde

Thyroid Cancer in Childhood Cancer Survivors: Demographic, Clinical, Germline Genetic Characteristics, Treatment, and Outcome

    No full text
Objective: Childhood cancer survival rates have improved, but survivors face an increased risk of second malignant neoplasms (SMNs), particularly thyroid cancer. This study examines the demographic, clinical, genetic, and treatment characteristics of childhood cancer survivors who developed thyroid cancer as a second or third malignancy, emphasizing the importance of long-term surveillance. Methods: A retrospective review was conducted for childhood cancer survivors treated between 1990 and 2018 who later developed thyroid cancer as a second or third malignancy. Data on demographics, clinical characteristics, treatment, and outcomes were analyzed. Results: Among the 3204 childhood cancer survivors, 10 patients (6 female, 4 male) developed papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), a median of 9 years post-initial diagnosis. Radiation therapy, particularly to the head and neck, was commonly used. Genetic testing revealed mutations in the Cell Cycle CheckPoint Kinase 2 (CHEK2) and Adenomatous Polyposis Coli (APC) genes in four patients, possibly contributing to the increased risk. All were diagnosed through thyroid ultrasound and underwent total thyroidectomy, and three received radioactive iodine (RAI). No recurrences or deaths related to PTC occurred, with a median follow-up of 5.5 years after diagnosis. Conclusions: Radiation therapy, especially combined with chemotherapy, significantly increases the risk of thyroid cancer in childhood cancer survivors. Genetic predispositions also play a role. Lifelong thyroid cancer surveillance is essential, particularly for those who received radiation or chemotherapy. Further research is needed to refine surveillance strategies and better understand genetic factors that influence thyroid cancer risk. Early detection and ongoing monitoring are critical for improving long-term outcomes.Science Citation Index Expande
