Indigenous Pedagogies Teaching And Learning Practices Rooted in Local Contexts

    Get PDF
Indigenous pedagogies are teaching and learning practices grounded in the cultural, environmental, and social contexts of Indigenous communities. These pedagogies emphasize holistic, experiential, and relational approaches to education, often rooted in oral traditions, storytelling, land-based learning, and intergenerational knowledge sharing. Unlike standardized educational systems, Indigenous pedagogies value the interconnectedness of knowledge, community, and environment, fostering a deep sense of identity, responsibility, and respect for the natural world. By prioritizing local contexts, these practices ensure that learning is relevant, meaningful, and sustainable, addressing the unique needs and aspirations of Indigenous learners. Central to Indigenous pedagogies is the recognition of Indigenous knowledge systems as valid and vital forms of education, often transmitted through lived experiences, ceremonies, and communal activities. These approaches often challenge Western notions of formal education by emphasizing collective learning over individual achievement, spiritual and emotional dimensions of education, and the integration of local ecological knowledge. Indigenous pedagogies also have broader implications for global education systems, offering insights into culturally responsive teaching, decolonizing education, and addressing ecological and social challenges. By engaging with Indigenous pedagogies, educators can develop curricula that honor diversity, foster critical thinking, and promote sustainability. However, the integration of Indigenous pedagogies requires careful collaboration with Indigenous communities, respect for their sovereignty, and an understanding of the ongoing impacts of colonialism. This abstract Highlights the transformative potential of Indigenous pedagogies in reshaping educational practices and fostering inclusive, contextually relevant learning environments. By Centering Indigenous knowledge and values, educators can contribute to more equitable and sustainable educational systems

    Get PDF
This research investigates the differential impacts of environmental factors on photovoltaic (PV) system performance across urban and rural settings. The study addresses a critical gap in understanding how dust accumulation, shading patterns, and surface contaminants affect solar panel efficiency in diverse geographical contexts. Through a comprehensive mixed-methods approach involving field measurements from 240 solar installations across six regions, laboratory testing, and meteorological data analysis spanning 24 months, this investigation quantifies performance degradation patterns. Results demonstrate that urban environments experience 18-25% greater efficiency losses compared to rural settings, primarily attributed to higher particulate matter concentrations and complex shading scenarios. Dust accumulation rates averaged 2.3 g/m²/day in urban areas versus 0.8 g/m²/day in rural locations. The study reveals that optimal cleaning intervals vary significantly between environments: weekly cleaning in urban areas versus bi-weekly in rural settings maximizes cost-effectiveness. These findings provide crucial insights for solar system designers, maintenance practitioners, and policymakers developing renewable energy infrastructure strategies. Keywords: Photovoltaic Performance, Environmental Contamination, Solar Panel Efficiency, Urban Solar Systems, Dust Accumulation, Shading Analysis, Renewable Energy Optimization

    Get PDF
The right to food is fundamental to ensuring human dignity and a cornerstone for achieving socio-economic equity. In India, where hunger, malnutrition, and food insecurity continue to affect millions despite significant agricultural production, the National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA) stands as a pivotal legal framework aimed at addressing these challenges. This socio-legal study explores the right to food in India, focusing on the NFSA as a transformative tool for ensuring food security and equity. The Act provides subsidized food grains to approximately two-thirds of the population, institutionalizes existing welfare schemes such as the Public Distribution System (PDS) and Mid-Day Meal Scheme, and emphasizes the empowerment of women through targeted provisions. This study critically examines the socio-economic context necessitating such legislation, analyzes its key provisions, and assesses its impact on marginalized communities, including women, children, and socio-economically disadvantaged groups. It also highlights implementation challenges such as exclusion errors, corruption, and inadequate nutrition coverage. The analysis underscores the Act\u27s potential to bridge socio-economic inequalities while calling for enhanced mechanisms to address operational inefficiencies and ensure holistic nutrition security. By situating the NFSA within India’s broader human rights discourse, the study argues that strengthening the right to food is crucial for advancing constitutional commitments to social justice and sustainable development
