International audienceContemporary migration is giving rise to complex socio-political transitions in contexts marked by migration policies that are becoming increasingly repressive and the circulation of polarising discourses in public spaces. NGOs play an essential role in this context. By creating spaces for expression and co-constructing alternative narratives on migration, they offer migrants the opportunity to share their sensitives experiences, express their uniquenessand enhance their power to act. Through an ethnographic study carried out within Cimade between 2017 and 2024, this paper explores how the communicational practices of these NGOs can promote the empowerment of migrants, particularly through a socially innovative info-communicational device: the Street Parliament, organised in Nancy in June 2024.Les migrations contemporaines engendrent des transitions socio-politiques complexes dans des contextes marqués par des politiques migratoires de plus en plus répressives et la circulation de discours polarisants dans les espaces publics.

Optimal Provisioning of Hybrid Service Function Chains with Guaranteed Disaster Resilience
International audienceNetwork Function Virtualization (NFV) provides a flexible mechanism for deploying Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) within Service Function Chains (SFCs), thereby streamlining data transfers between end-users and edge/cloud resources. The distinct requirements for forward and backward traffic-each carrying different types of content-give rise to Hybrid SFCs (HSFCs), which must be carefully designed to address unique deployment and performance concerns. However, achieving robust disaster resilience in HSFC-based NFV environments poses significant challenges, as natural or hardwareinduced disruptions within Disaster Zones (DZs) can degrade service quality or even cause outages. This paper describes the Resilient Hybrid Service Function Chain Resource Optimization (R-HSFC-RO) approach to ensure both efficient resource utilization and sustained service delivery under disaster conditions. Our model considers bandwidth consumption, computational resource allocation for VNF execution, VNF instantiation overheads, and end-to-end latency requirements. For resolution, we propose a Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) model and Constraint Programming (CP), thereby enabling optimal solutions. Simulation results demonstrate that R-HSFC-RO reduces total costs by up to 50%, enhances disaster resilience, and maintains high operational efficiency
The development of national sport policy and governance in Seychelles (1976–2014)
International audienceThis article analyses the driving forces behind the development of politicaldiscourse and public policy on sport in the Seychelles between 1976 and2014. The data was collected through a detailed study of legislative textsgoverning local sport, coupled with a close reading of the archives of theSeychelles Nation, the main national daily; interviews with key stakeholders(policymakers, managers, foreign specialists on missions abroad) involved insport were also conducted during two field surveys. This analysis reveals howa small but determined network of stakeholders first had to make up for ashortage of sports facilities in the country and set up a centralisedorganisation. The Seychelles government then gradually adopted a rationalapproach to sport governance that focused both on democratisation (sportfor all, health, education, etc.) and on competitive aspects of sport
International audienceThis article examines the impact of cultural and dietary change on obesity in French Polynesia. It highlights the socio-cultural and economic transformations that have altered the population's eating habits, leading to a high prevalence of obesity and associated metabolic disorders. The arrival of Europeans and colonisation introduced Western consumption patterns, different social norms and a cash economy, leading to a rapid transition to a sedentary lifestyle. This transition was exacerbated by the massive importation of processed foods of low nutritional quality, amplifying the obesity epidemic. Combating obesity in French Polynesia requires a multi-dimensional approach, coordinating medical, educational and political interventions to prevent and manage this condition. Political and economic challenges must be overcome in order to promote effective public health policies that have lasting benefits for the population.

In response to the degradation of natural areas and the loss of biodiversity, ecological restoration is considered one of the major tools of conservation biology. This recent discipline is still the subject of controversy, particularly concerning the concept of “reference ecosystem”, considered too fixist. However, it is now generally accepted that the definition of a reference ecosystem does not consist in freezing a representation of a past “ideal” ecosystem, but in exploring its historical and current variations. Despite these conceptual advances, there are still methodological gaps to be filled in order to take better account of the variability of reference ecosystems when assessing the success of ecological restoration operations. To meet this need, we chose the Mediterranean temporary ponds of the Camargue as a case study, an ecosystem whose environmental conditions and plant communities are particularly variable, notably due to the intermittence of aquatic and dry phases. Despite their conservation importance, these temporary Mediterranean ponds have been and continue to be heavily impacted by human activity. In response, restoration and creation operations have been carried out, and now need to be evaluated. As a first step, we developed the “Distance to References Communities Index” (DRCI), which compares a site or community undergoing restoration with a panel of reference sites or communities. This method considers each reference situation as a potential objective, unlike commonly used methods which consider an average reference situation as the optimal objective. DRCI is an integrative indicator that focuses on communities, using an index of distance or similarity. It is particularly well suited to variable ecological systems such as temporary ponds. We then explored the spatio-temporal diversity of Camargue ponds, through all available old floristic data and surveys carried out as part of this thesis in 27 reference ponds in April, May, June and August 2019 and 2020. The surveys enabled us to recover most of the species known since the 1950s, with comparable proportions. Contemporary ponds can therefore be considered as relevant reference ecosystems, comparable to the ponds inventoried in the second half of the 20th century. Nevertheless, minor changes in pond vegetation can be interpreted as degradation, notably the appearance of invasive exotic species and salinization phenomena possibly due to climate change. Finally, we compared the vegetation of 25 ponds created in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries (inventoried in April, May, June and July 2020) with that of 27 reference ponds. The vegetation communities (species composition and abundance) of the ponds created in the 21st century were quite distinct from the reference communities, in contrast to the communities of the ponds created earlier. Communities in flooded conditions were closer to reference communities than those in the dry phase. In particular, protected and endangered emergent species were generally absent from created ponds, unlike submerged macrophytes. The benefits of creating Mediterranean temporary ponds are therefore significant for aquatic communities, but limited for some terrestrial and amphibious communities. The choice of reference model and of the measured variables may strongly influence the results and conclusions of the assessment. Defining a reference model is tantamount to defining the objectives of restoration projects, and therefore makes their evaluation more or less flexible.
Feeding black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae with mushrooms and then exposing them to UVB produces larvae extremely rich in vitamins D2 and D3
International audienceBlack soldier fly larvae (BSFL) are a sustainable source of protein for feed but they can also be a sustainable source of some phytochemicals due to their ability to bioaccumulate them. Knowing that ergosterol in mushrooms can be chemically converted to vitamin D 2 (VD 2 ) under ultraviolet B (UVB) exposure, the aim was to investigate whether BSFL can bioaccumulate ergosterol and whether larvae ergosterol can be converted into VD 2 under UVB exposure. Method: BSFL were reared on mushrooms for 2 weeks and then exposed to UVB (2.7 mW/cm 2 /s for up to 5 h). Ergosterol, VD 2 and vitamin D 3 (VD 3 ) were quantified by HPLC in mushrooms and larvae. Main results: larvae non-exposed to UVB did not contain any detectable amount of VD 2 or VD 3 . Larvae reared on mushrooms bioaccumulated ergosterol (702 ± 95 mg/Kg FW in larvae vs 444 ± 56 mg/Kg in mushrooms). Larvae reared on mushrooms and then exposed to UVB for 1 h contained high concentrations of VD 2 but also of VD 3 (46 ± 2 and 10.9 ± 0.5 mg/Kg FW, respectively). Conclusions: BSFL can bioaccumulate ergosterol. UVB exposure of ergosterol-enriched BSFL results in VD 2 but also in VD 3 rich BSFL. The maximal VD concentration obtained in BSFL was about 23 times higher than cod liver oil, the food known to be richest in VD. These results suggest that VD-enriched BSFL could be used to supplement the nutrition of certain livestock with VD, or be valued as a functional ingredient.
