Irrigation is a common practice in agriculture, helping to stabilise water supplies and improve crop yields. It is also one of the main ways in which farmers are responding to climate change, which is expected to lead to changes in rainfall patterns and higher temperatures. These changes will be particularly pronounced in the Mediterranean region, where higher temperatures and more frequent and intense droughts are expected.Irrigation is growing rapidly in the vineyards. It is used to stabilise production and regulate sugar levels in the wine. It is mainly used as a drip irrigation system during periods of drought, to simulate the effects of summer thunderstorms. Although beneficial for production in a context of water stress, increased humidity could affect the biodiversity of the agroecosystem by modifying its composition, structure and interaction networks. This could affect key ecological functions, with repercussions for crops. It is therefore vital to gain a better understanding of the effects and processes associated with irrigation, which is becoming increasingly frequent and intense. My work aims to gain a better understanding of the effects of irrigation on biodiversity in Mediterranean wine-growing agroecosystems. This has led to three main research questions: (1) What are the effects of irrigation on vegetation and epigeous arthropods in vine inter-rows? (2) What are the effects of irrigation on vegetation and soil organisms in the short and medium term under the vine row? (3) How do the effects of irrigation evolve in the short term during the summer period? In the first axis (1), we showed a reduction in floral cover in the irrigated vineyards, without however observing any difference in terms of species richness. The abundance of several beneficial arthropods was directly affected by irrigation. These direct effects were amplified by the negative impact of irrigation on floral cover. Predation rates were also lower in irrigated vineyards, but only during the day. In the second axis (2), no clear effect of irrigation was observed on the vegetation under the vine row. However, an increase in soil fauna was noted during the summer period, at the time of irrigation, with an increase in predatory mite populations and a change in the structure of mite and springtail communities. Irrigation appears to mitigate the effects of drought, which have a negative impact on springtails and mites. Springtails, which are more sensitive to drought, were absent from the surveys carried out in August. In the third axis (3), the addition of water to the vines during the drought period had a priming effect on the bacteria, but did not alter the composition of the microbial community. In addition, we observed an increase in the abundance of springtails and mites, as well as an increase in biological activity in the soil. The more drought-resistant organisms were not affected by the irrigation. The effects of irrigation disappeared after just a few days. However, in the long term, a potential depletion in soil organic matter, due to peaks in activity during rewetting cycles, could be observed. All these results highlight the importance of studying the effects of irrigation and their temporality, in a context where its use is tending to become the norm. This thesis opens up new perspectives on the potential effects of irrigation, particularly in terms of the functional traits of organisms and the specific composition of communities.L’irrigation est une pratique courante en agriculture, permettant de stabiliser l’approvisionnement en eau, et d’améliorer les rendements agricoles.
This article examines the cinephilia of film downloaders between the end of the Napster era (the first P2P network shut down by US authorities in 2001) and that of MegaUpload, shut down in 2012 by New Zealand authorities. This decade has been characterized by the gradual disappearance of the technological barriers that have long hampered the downloading of large files, in tandem with the spread of ADSL and the rise of streaming . Few studies, however, have looked at downloading and streaming from the perspective of the sociology of consumption, considering these content appropriation practices as a means of determining a trend in cinephiles' taste for the cinema object. On the basis of a qualitative survey, we look at the motivations behind downloading and streaming, relating them to the emergence of new cinephilic behaviours ("niche" and "rarity" cinephilias). Today, these indicators converge to suggest that downloading or streaming films is a way of appropriating images that has become commonplace, with few differences from other uses of cinephilia consumed on the big screen.
The YouTube platform has provided a global stage for everyone, paving the way for a new freedom of expression where each user can become a creator for millions of viewers. Founded in 2005 by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim, YouTube has transformed visibility access, enabling the rise of a new kind of celebrity : YouTubers. These creators, from all walks of life, captivate a broad audience, embodying a new model of fame based on proximity and emotional connection. YouTube has transformed intimacy into a media space where self-narration becomes a strategic asset for achieving fame. Today, anyone can become a creator from their bedroom and reach a wide audience. This model disrupts traditional media production frameworks by bypassing the classic circuits of celebrity. However, behind this apparent accessibility lies a complexity that requires YouTubers to master the platform’s codes and standards. From amateur passion to professionalization, the path is demanding.Despite their success, YouTubers in France face fragile legitimacy, particularly with traditional media. Often judged more on their digital popularity than the quality of their content, they are seen as ambivalent figures, both appealing and unsettling. French magazines, represented by titles like Télé 7 Jours, Télérama, and Elle, actively contribute to shaping their image, blending fascination with skepticism toward these new players on the media scene. This thesis thus explores YouTuber fame through an analysis of media discourse, examining how the mainstream press constructs their public image and contributes to the development of a new form of celebrity. By studying media narratives and highlighting the hesitations or admiration they inspire, this research aims to better understand the socio-cultural issues raised by the rise of YouTubers. In the digital age, these creators embody a new dynamic of fame, where proximity, authenticity, and the ability to interact redefine the relationship between media figures and the audience.
Impacts of Canopy Disturbances by Tree Logging on Soil Biota Increase With Organism Size
International audienceABSTRACT Soil biota is essential for forest ecosystems' functioning as it plays a key role in litter decomposition, nutrient recycling, and soil carbon sequestration. Since forest disturbances can have major impacts on soil biota and associated ecosystem services, there is an urgent need to provide evidence on its ecological responses to such disturbances. To this end, we established an experimental site to study the impacts of disturbance on soil biota abundance and properties resulting from tree‐felling interventions of different intensity as well as from post‐disturbance treatments (adding slash or not to the soil) in a Quercus faginea Lam. forest located in northern Spain. The experimental design consisted of a randomized block design that included five treatments: control, 50% canopy disturbance with and without slash, and 100% canopy disturbance with and without slash. Comprehensive inventories of soil biota, including microbes, microfauna, mesofauna, and macrofauna, were carried out after one, nine, and 21 months following the disturbance. Our results showed how body size determined the response of the soil community to canopy disturbance intensity and time since disturbance. Generally, the effects of the disturbance treatments were more severe as the size of the organisms increased and as the disturbance intensity increased. We conclude that while forests may show a certain capacity to absorb disturbances, assisting soils with slash addition after disturbances helps maintain habitats and the soil microclimatic conditions to conserve soil biota and functions. Moreover, organism body size emerges as a potential integrative functional trait indicative of responses to disturbance. Our results, derived from a quite unique multi‐taxon study, have important implications not only for biodiversity conservation but also for forest managers and policymakers

Metabolic characterization of seven bee pollens: molecular network, metabolite isolation and antioxidant assessment
International audienceIn a changing world, bees are facing increasing stressful conditions, such as ozone and pollutant concentrations, and more events of higher temperatures [1–3]. In a project called BeeMed [4], Vanderplanck et al. (CEFE, Montpellier, France) suggested that bees may develop an auto-medication behaviour by selecting the species that may provide them the most beneficial pollen content, notably antioxidant metabolites. The objective of this study, part of the BeeMed project, was to characterize the metabolic content of bee pollens from five dominant species and two mix of species. A Featured-Based Molecular Network (FBMN) was realized after UHPLC-MS/MS analysis to underscore the occurence of species metabolites. Major metabolites from one-species dominant pollen were purified by Centrifugal Partition and preparative chromatography for further chemical characterization (1D and 2D NMR). Extracts and purified metabolites were assessed for their antioxidant properties using an online-antioxidant ABTS assay.Three main spectral families were detected in all bee pollens namely polyamines (ex: spermidines, spermines), flavonoid glycosides and amino-acids. Specific benzylisoquinoline alkaloids (ex: scoulerin and derivatives) were exclusively detected in one-species dominant pollen."Isorhamnetin-like" dihexoside, exerting antioxidant properties, and "isorhamnetin-like" hexoside were purified from pollen and structurally confirmed. Myricetin dihexoside and p-coumaroyl dicaffeoyl spermidine isomers demonstrated the best antioxidant properties. The use of three complementary approaches (MS-based FBMN, metabolite purification and anti-oxydant assay) permitted to better describe pollen chemical diversity and pave the way for further experiments to better understand bee resilience facing oxidative stresses
