Patterns of guild migration in the early modern period: Lessons from a comparative study of young artisans' migration and university peregrination
Get PDFGuild migration in Hungary in the 16 th to 18 th centuries can be best captured by exploring the migration of young artisans. Peregrination and the migration of young artisans were a process of learning and making contacts in a foreign environment over several years. We will be looking at the life, tasks, objectives and, not least, knowledge acquisition and career strategy of one age group, young men roughly between the ages of 16–20, who in the early modern period were the main depositories of local economic and political power in Europe, including the territories of the former Kingdom of Hungary – especially in the towns – and who were entering local economic and political power after half a decade or so of studying. This highly mobile way of acquiring knowledge abroad through university and guild migration provided an experience of leaving the familiar home base. What these young men had in common was that their learning process took place in a foreign territory, far away from their home, in the unfamiliar environment of another country, using a different language. In the case of both groups of learners, the existence of a network of family ties, which can be traversed in several directions, proved to be a key organising factor. This link between the – mainly German-speaking – urban and rural citizens in Western Europe and the Hungarian (and Transylvanian) citizens in the early modern period was always evident in the guild organisation, both economically and culturally

Get PDFSince 2019, the Hungarian Civil Code has been amended several times in order to better enforce children's rights. In the course of the amendments, the legislator has made it possible for parental custody to remain joint at the request of one parent in the event of the termination of a relationship, and to allow for alternating custody, i.e. the child may alternately reside with one or the other parent. An innovation is to give the child the opportunity to express his or her views if he or she wishes. Following a Constitutional Court decision, the law now specifies which documents must be handed over in case of visitation. Enforcement of impeded visitation has been transferred from the guardianship authorities to the courts

Labour law and Metaverse –can they fit together?
Get PDFThe paper focuses on some labour law questions which arise from work in the metaverse. The first question is whether meta-work could be the next new type of work as standard employment relationship, which is going through a transformation in general. Indeed, the idea of personal work – as a main pillar of the employment relationship – was challenged by platform work in the recent years, but metaverse seems to further question the old paradigms. The article shortly examines the question of wages, for instance, as the metaverse generally relies on cryptocurrency (CC) to pay for transactions and purchases. Subsequently, the paper mainly concentrates on the analysis of health and safety at work and of the discrimination ban in metaverse
