Metaforák a minőségügy magyar–angol terminusaiban
MOTIVATIONS FOR THE PROFESSION AND CAREER ADVANCEMENTS AMONG TEACHER CANDIDATES IN THE CARPATHIAN COUNTRIES
We suppose that today, the motivation for the career of a pedagogue (including its existential, organizational and infrastructural conditions) is different from the level of commitment to the profession of an educator (which can be experienced informally, or outside of the public education system). In our research, we made efforts to address the widest possible range of student elementary teachers and to interpret their responses using different filters. In the first phase of our study, we analyzed first-year kindergarten teacher students’ career motivation and commitment to the profession, and in the second phase, that of final-year kindergarten teacher candidates. In the third phase, we conducted surveys to explore students’ motivation for the profession and the career path of a pedagogue in four countries of the Carpathian Basin (Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Serbia). The surveys were conducted in 17 campuses of 11 Hungarian teacher training colleges and universities. Finally, we extended the survey to practicing graduates preparing for their on-the-job rating examination. Based on our results, in all breakdowns, regardless of age group, training institute or - in part - geographical location and nationality, it is proven that lack of social- and financial esteem of the pro-fession poses serious risks for recruitment and retention of teachers
A Kabuki Pose in Sculptures of Auguste Rodin
Hanako (Ōta Hisa, 1868–1945) was an insignificant member of a small Japanese theatrical troupe
when she was discovered by the well-known dancer, Loïe Fuller, who after seeing Hanako’s death
scene, decided to become her impresario. Thereafter, Fuller organised each of Hanako’s European
tours and wrote for her many Japanese-style dramas that always ended with the cruel but utterly
expressive death of the protagonist. Hanako met Auguste Rodin, the famous sculpture, at the
Marseille Colonial Exhibition in 1906. The master was fascinated by Hanako’s performance and
tried to sculpt the ‘death face’ that she expressed during her death scenes. This face, with a weird
expression, was most probably a nirami, which is a type of mie pose in kabuki theatre. Rodin created numerous busts and faces from different materials trying to capture the emblematic moment
when Hanako saw death. The present paper examines the short but interesting period of Hanako’s
Western career, focusing on her meeting with Rodin. I use their story as a unique and symbolic
illustration of Japanese artists’ efforts to transform themselves and their art to ‘match’ the Western
eye and of the ways in which the West was looking for verification of its preconceptions of the
‘strange’ and ‘exotic’ East in the early 1900s
Psychological models of development of idiopathic environmental intolerances: Evidence from longitudinal population-based data
The origin of idiopathic environmental intolerances (IEIs) is an open question. According to the psychological approaches, various top-down factors play a dominant role in the development of IEIs. The general psychopathology model assumes a propensity towards mental ill-health (negative affectivity) increases the probability of developing IEIs. The attribution model emphasizes the importance of mistaken attribution of experienced somatic symptoms; thus, more symptoms should lead to more IEIs. Finally, the nocebo model highlights the role of expectations in the development of IEIs. In this case, worries about the harmful effects of environmental factors are assumed to evoke IEIs. We estimated cross-lagged panel models with latent variables based on longitudinal data obtained at two time points (six years apart) from a large near-representative community sample to test the hypothesized associations. Indicators of chemical intolerance, electromagnetic hypersensitivity, and sound sensitivity fit well under a common latent factor of IEIs. This factor, in turn, showed considerable temporal stability. However, whereas a positive association was found between IEIs and increased somatic symptoms and modern health worries six years later, the changes therein could not be predicted as hypothesized by the three psychological models. We discuss the implications of these results, as well as methodological aspects in the measurement and prediction of change in IEIs
Missed Constitutional Moments and Real Constitutional Conflicts in Hungary 1989 v. 2011
This paper, examining the Hungarian example argues that that the price is high if a constitutional
moment to adopt a constitution based on wide societal compromise has been
missed. The constitution-making process might then be completed either by activist
courts or by activist political forces. Hungary experienced two major constitutional reforms,
both missing a consensual constitutional momentum. The first transformation in
1989–90, which replaced the socialist authoritarian system by democracy, was brought
about by political elites, lacking democratic legitimacy, keeping the formal legal framework
of the socialist constitution. The second reform in 2011 brought a formally new
constitution (Fundamental Law of Hungary), initiated and adopted solely by the governing
party (FIDESZ) with a constitutional majority, without consensus. The Constitutional
Court both times attempted to play an active, corrective role in the aftermath
of the constitution-making

Cross-Media-Publishing in der korpusgestützten Lernerlexikographie. Entstehung eines Lernerwörterbuchportals DAF
This paper gives an insight into a cross-media publishing process on different stages: from a printed bilingual syntagmatic dictionary for GFL to an online learner’s dictionary of German collocations to a German learner’s dictionary portal. On the basis of an sql database specially developed for a corpus-guided dictionary of German collocations, the bilingual syntagmatic learner’s dictionary KOLLEX was published in 2014. The first part of the article describes this lexi cographic process, focusing the most relevant aspects of the dictionary concept, e.g. dictionary type, subject matter, corpus-guided data selection and microstructure. The second part introduces the first online version of KOLLEX from 2016 and the profound changes in the editing system – from a desktop version (2005) to a web-based editing system (2016) –, which resulted successively in a prototype of a German learner’s dictionary portal, called E-KOLLEX DAF (2018-). Focusing on the aspects of dynamism and integration of different resources from a learner’s perspective the paper shows the innovative features of this new online reference work. The contribution presents the solutions for the integration of new datatypes in the database of KOLLEX and the linking to different data in German monolingual dictionary platforms. The paper outlines the web design, functioning and technical improvements of E-KOLLEX DAF. The conclusions provide an outlook to the forth coming challenges
