The present article seeks to erect format, which is inherent to the form modalized by space and modalizing it in return, as a category of analysis. The aim is to describe the manifestations of format : size (maxi and mini, macro and micro), volume, mass and weight. The attention is focused on the (dis)proportions and the changes of scale as well as on the effects produced on a not only perceptivo-cognitive, but sensitive instance. More particularly, the article wonders about the sublime, the kitsch and the monstrous, by identifying an axiological base, according to specific aesthetics

Our article is intended as a joint tribute to Michel de Certeau, the author, as far as we know, of this conception of glossolalia as utopia, and to Paolo Fabbri: their conversations on this subject were in fact published in the book Utopie vocali (Mimesis Edizioni, Milano-Udine, 2015). The phenomenon of glossolalia, originally referred to as the “language of angels”, is therefore part of the religious world, or more precisely, of New Testament and Christian world (Pentecost is the culminating episode). And we know that the Orthodox rite always includes the glossolalising intervention of a member of the faithful, spontaneously, on the very day of Pentecost, mimicking the coming of the Holy Spirit. But the phenomenon of glossolalia has moved from the religious to the secular, as in manifestations in literature, and from the normal to the pathological. And it is in the field of pathology that we would like to focus more specifically, since glossolalia appears in certain schizophrenic subjects, and is therefore a schizophrenia. Examples will show this impressive manifestation of an entirely neological language, with its permanent features (phonological and syntactic invariants) and its rules for forming genuine sentence units. An exceptional example will be given, that of a Quebec patient with five glossolalic languages (this case was communicated to us by the famous aphasiologist André Roch Lecours). Recourse to instance’s theory (J.-C. Coquet) will enable us to put forward a semiotic hypothesis on the occurrence of such a phenomenon in schizophrenia, based on the limited islands in the language of these patients that are neological and recurrent words (called “predilection words”) within preserved normal language, including its metalinguistic function. It is the process of recapitulating experience, the passage from phusis to logos (in Coquet’s own words) that is profoundly affected, giving rise to the unintelligible production of pure experience incapable of becoming logos
In this article, we study the structure and dynamics of the expression plane of perceptual semiosis. Drawing on the practice of oenological tasting, we will show how this plane of expression manifests itself as a spatial configuration whose volume, density, texture and form are based on a tensive dynamic. The semantic material offered by oenological terminology will enable us to gradually reconstruct the complexity of this structure, and in particular to reveal the characteristics of its sapid framework and the configuration of its aromatic complex in a field of presence
