    L’algorithme et l’organon sémiotique

    No full text
Dans quelle mesure le terme permet-il de décrire l’organisation des connaissances ?Although algorithms is ubiquitous and seem to regulate our lives, its definitions is often laconic and more or less metaphorical. More than its definition, it's the description of how it works that generally attracts attention. It then appears as an algorithmic actant with the status of an invisible, and therefore worrying, social destinateur. The word algorithm has long belonged to the metalanguage of semiotics, which, by vocation, focuses its attention on the functioning of discourse, more precisely on the relationship between terms, their mode of arrangement, in order to ask "how it means" (Floch, 1985). Integrated into its organon, the term algorithm is used to describe narrative transformations and the reconfiguration of narrative units by mythic discourse. This article looks at the use of the term algorithm in semiotics, and characterizes this ancient creative algorithm in relation to the computer algorithm that has now entered everyday language. To what extent can the term be used to describe the organization of knowledge

As an analytical tool –not definitively exhausted, admittedly, but relatively operative– the semiotic square explains the production of meaning in terms of expression and content. From Greimas to Coquet, the Aristotelian square of modal logic, under the influence of the concepts of modality and identity, shifts from phoria to pathos. The phoria square proposed to study the subject’s competence has been augmented in our essay by a pathos square to identify the relations of sympathy or antipathy between interacting identities. It characterizes the subject’s performance, not his or her competence. In the same critical spirit initiated by J. Petitot, albeit less fastidious in our case, we hope that a re-examination of the priorities of the various models of semiotic squares proposed to date will contribute to the never-ending project of meaning construction

The contribution aims to reflect on some specificities of the sanctioning methods on social networks, transformed in today’s post-truth regime into real courts of summary justice. In particular, four aspects will be taken into consideration: i) the lack of an institutional dimension; ii) the punctual and extemporaneous character on the temporal level; iii) the absence of a probative logic on the argumentative level; iv) the strongly phatic characterization. Particularly important will be the reflection on the actantial role of the sender and on the recourse to assumption of a communicative community of destination

The article aims to semiotically articulate several issues related to the media coverage of the criminal trial. In the first paragraph, it focuses on the narrative nature of the criminal trial as discourse, and the difference between “enuncé” and “enunciation” ; in the second and third paragraphs, it brings out a possible syntax of Actoral roles – both mediatic and legal – with respect to the problems of sanction and public opinion ; in the fourth paragraph, it discusses the regime of “social vraisemblance” proposed by Eric Landowski (1988) in his model of four régimes de véridiction with respect to judicial evidence

In this brief contribution, I propose to return to a set of reflections scattered throughout several of my works, in order to systematize them with a view to a “semio-phenomenology of rhythm” which, still waiting to be constituted, would be likely to shed light on the functioning of the plane of expression in different languages, as well as its relationship to perception. To this end, I first turn to the haptological hypothesis, linking it to a profound gestuality based on “seizure” or prehension, which gives rise to form (of expression). Next, I postulate the transversal character of rhythm, as the organization of the becoming of form and the focus of this haptological activity on the part of the perceiving subject. Finally, I propose to consider the “rhythmic path”, constituted by the “attack-tension-relaxation” sequence modulating the “seizure”, as the equivalent of the narrative program, within a generative path of the plan of expression
