Installation and performance of the 3rd Veto plane at the SND@LHC detector
During 2022/2023 the optimal inefficiency of the Veto system of the SND@LHC detector was measured to be (7.8 +/- 2.8) x 10(-8). To reduce this inefficiency, a third Veto plane was installed during the 2023-2024 Year End Technical Stop. In addition, the Veto system was lowered to cover the target fully, thereby increasing acceptance. This paper describes how the inefficiency of the Veto system was reduced from (7.8 +/- 2.8) x 10(-8) with an acceptance of about 64% of the target area in 2022-2023 to (4.9 +/- 1.9) x 10(-9) on the full area in 2024

Topological manipulations on ℝ symmetries of Abelian gauge theory
Performing topological manipulations is a fruitful way to understand global aspects of Quantum Field Theory (QFT). Such modifications are typically controlled by the notion of Topological QFT (TQFT) coupling across different codimensions. Motivated by the recent developments involving non-compact TQFTs as the Symmetry Topological Field Theory (SymTFT) for continuous symmetries, we realize topological manipulations on global ℝ symmetries via TQFT coupling in the simple context of non-compact abelian gauge theory. Namely, by inserting the background fields for ℝ symmetries into non-compact TQFTs on spacetime, we study the topological gaugings. Furthermore, we explore topological defects in non-compact theories by employing the said manipulations on the half-space, which are analogous to duality defects in compact gauge theories. We examine the action of these defects on the local and extended operators, and discuss their algebra. As opposed to the duality defects, our defects act invertibly on the spectrum. To further understand their role, we discuss the way they mix with other topological defects and the resulting global symmetries. We also comment on possible applications of these ideas to the bosonic String Theory. After studying defects, we provide a detailed inspection of manipulations on ℝ(−1) and ℝ(d − 1) symmetries in abelian gauge theory. Notably, we develop a novel deformation tailored for flat gauging subgroups of ℝ(d − 1) symmetries, and provide an extension of it for ℝ(p) symmetries. We show that this new simple deformation captures all the topological boundary conditions of the corresponding non-compact SymTFTs as the deformation parameter is varied, which the ordinary non-compact BF coupling cannot do

THE MODERN AESTHETICS OF PAVILIONS An Investigation of the International Izmir Fair Pavilions
The Great Fire of Izmir in 1922 caused a great loss of life and property, and the historic city center was destroyed in a few days. However, this tragedy led to the realization of one of the most important modernization projects of the Early Republican Period in Turkey. The modern city plan for the burned area was prepared between 1924 and 1925 by Réné and Raymond Dangér under the consultancy of Henri Prost. It was as a typical example of the French urbanism school and, together with the buildings designed in the style of the modern Turkish architecture movement, ensured the production of spaces that would support the new lifestyle of modern society. One of the achievements of this plan was that Izmir Culturepark strengthened the image of the contemporary city with the green areas in the city center. Moreover, the International Izmir Fair, held in Culturepark every year starting in 1936, was also an important event in the socio-cultural and economic life of the city. Some of the most attractive structures of the International Izmir Fair were pavilions built for the new institutions and provinces of the Republic of Turkey, foreign countries, and local and foreign companies. They have become exhibition objects as well as the promotion of commercial products, provinces, or countries. The pavilions carried symbolic significance for various reasons, including the presentation of innovations and advancements in building materials and technologies and the reflection of evolving architectural paradigms over time. They have also contributed to the development of the interior architecture profession as well as collaborations between other art disciplines. This paper focuses on the interior designs of the pavilions designed and built for the International Izmir Fair between 1936 and 1970, despite the constraints faced by both the country and the city of Izmir following the 1922 fire. The scope of the study documents the existing data about the pavilions and evaluates them in terms of modern interior design history in Turkey
Transfer Learning Based Target Detection Under Compound Gaussian Clutter
Accurate target detection amid noise and clutter remains a fundamental challenge in radar signal processing, particularly for applications such as autonomous navigation and defense systems. The presence of noise and clutter significantly distorts the reflected radar signals, making reliable detection more difficult. Recent developments in deep learning-especially the use of convolutional neural networks and transfer learning-have shown potential in improving radar signal classification performance. This study investigates the application of ResNet architectures for detecting multiple targets, and evaluates their effectiveness against classical constant false alarm rate techniques and adaptive normalized matched filters under conditions of correlated non-Gaussian clutter and low signal-to-clutter-plus-noise ratios. By leveraging pre-trained models with strong nonlinear feature extraction capabilities, the proposed approach demonstrates superior detection probability, outperforming both traditional and current state-of-the-art methods in radar signal processing tasks
