    International audienceThis chapter examines the descriptive legitimacy of the Citizens' Convention for Climate (C3) and presents the distribution of the citizens present at the sessions, based on the various sociodemographic criteria used for the selection process. The method of selection through telephone calls is very widely used. Generally, three characteristics are required to ensure the democratic legitimacy of political participatory devices: representativity of the assembled groups, inclusivity and quality of their deliberation, and the scope of the results. From the point of view of the commissioning authority, the organizers and the media, the recruitment of the 150 citizens to take part in the C3 was plainly an important political issue. Descriptive legitimacy was achieved by complying with a set of specifications governing the recruitment of participants

    International audienceLa présentation interroge la notion d’héritage des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de Paris 2024, notion omniprésente dans les discours institutionnels et politiques, mais rapidement fragilisée dans la séquence post-événement. Elle fait suite à la soutenance par Océane Ranjeva d’un mémoire de Master 2 en « Intelligence économique », parcours "Influence, lobbying et médias sociaux" en septembre 2025. Océane Ranjeva fait partie des étudiantes de la promotion de Master 2024-25 que Lucile Desmoulins souhaite inciter à poursuivre en thèse. Elle n'a pas pu être présente en visioconférence, du fait de l'actualité à Madagascar et de son implication citoyenne.Concernant la présentation, elle montre la réalité des tensions derrière les promesses d’unité nationale, de cohésion sociale et de modernité territoriale. L’étude met en lumière ces tensions qui traversent la mise en récit de l'héritage des JO, du fait d’arbitrages budgétaires défavorables et des réalités vécues par les acteurs du sport de compétition ou de loisirs. L’approche méthodologie choisie est socio-sémio discursive avec un focus sur les arguments moraux, politiques et émotionnels, les mythes fondateurs convoqués, les figures de style, les formats : lettre ouverte, communiqué de presse, les publications sur des médias sociaux et leurs réponses, les interviews données à la presse papier ou web et les blogs militants, dans des podcasts et émissions radiodiffusée ou télévisée. La construction institutionnelle d’un récit consensuel fondé sur le triptyque des valeurs d’unité, d’inclusion et de durabilité a été portée par les institutions nationales et territoriales comme un levier de transformation sociétale durable. Nous avons étudié les contestations et contre-discours, incarnés par la campagne #CartonRougeABercy et par la tribune des 425 athlètes en tant que campagne de plaidoyer multicanale et à travers des concepts comme ceux d’opportunisme, d’audibilité discursive et formulaire, de corporatisme, d’instrumentalisation, de personnification, de storytelling, de scandalisation et de dramatisation

    Worlding geographies: A question of languages

    International audienceThis intervention responds to the ‘Geography in the World’ series, addressing the question from two angles. Firstly, it shifts the focus from geography in the world to worlding geographies. Drawing on Deleuze and Guattari's concept of ‘becoming-minority’, it encourages reflection on the current geography of knowledge production as a historical, political, and linguistic construct. While this produces a dominance of English-speaking geography, this dominance is contingent and dynamic. We then invite scholars to consider the implications of such a hierarchy: depending on our position, ‘worlding geographies’ can reinforce the dominance of certain types of geography (e.g. white, male, and Western).As French-speaking geographers, we recognise our in-between position, that encompasses domination over former colonial areas, but also provincialisation, particularly with regard to English language production. We argue that ‘worlding geography’ must be considered in relation to our national and personal situations as a dynamic and hughly situated process. Secondly, as researchers and teachers of geography, we propose practicing theoretical multilingualism in our concepts, scientific praxis and teaching. Language is key to opening up geography to the world, recognising diversity, and acknowledging the different ways in which people express and conceptualise the world. This involves paying particular attention to the concepts we use and their origins, considering various case studies in our classes, and recognising that the world is already present in our classrooms. In short, we contend that the ‘Worlding Geography’ programme requires more extensive consideration of languages. ‘Worlding Geographies’ must be considered a praxis that combines theory and practice in all our scholarly activities

    International audienceThis work comprehensively analyzes autonomous racing competitions and their technologies, addressing a gap in current literature. We evaluate these platforms through five key metrics: cost, system modularity, speed performance, technical complexity, and academic impact. Using bibliometric analysis of scientific literature, we identify dominant technologies, including Model Predictive Control and reinforcement learning. Our comparative framework reveals clear trade-offs: Formula Student Driverless offers accessibility and academic involvement but features lower speeds. At the same time, full-scale competitions like Indy Autonomous Challenge provide high-velocity testing but at increased cost. Reduced-scale platforms serve as valuable precursors to full-scale projects, offering cost-effective insights into perception, control, and system integration. The study demonstrates how competitions complement each other in advancing autonomous driving technologies and identifies patterns in simulator usage for algorithm development and validation. This comparison provides researchers with guidance for selecting appropriate platforms based on research objectives and available resources

    Spin glass analysis of the invariant distribution of lotka-volterra SDE with a large random interaction matrix

    The generalized Lotka-Volterra stochastic differential equation with a symmetric food interaction matrix is frequently used to model the dynamics of the abundances of the species living within an ecosystem when these interactions are mutualistic or competitive. In the relevant cases of interest, the Markov process described by this equation has an unique invariant distribution which has a Hamiltonian structure. Following an important trend in theoretical ecology, the interaction matrix is considered in this paper as a large random matrix. In this situation, the (conditional) invariant distribution takes the form of a random Gibbs measure that can be studied rigorously with the help of spin glass techniques issued from the field of physics of disordered systems. Considering that the interaction matrix is an additively deformed GOE matrix, which is a well-known model for this matrix in theoretical ecology, the free energy of the model is derived in the limit of the large number n of species, making rigorous some recent results from the literature. The free energy analysis made in this paper could be adapted to other situations where the Gibbs measure is non compactly supported
