Helium atom scattering on amorphous bilayer silica
This dataset contains time of flight (TOF) measurements obtained using helium atom scattering (HAS) on an amorphous bilayer silica sample supportend on a Ru(0001) substrate.
TOF measurements are taken at several incident angles and azimuthal angles, as described in the attached pdf file.
TOF measurements are used to study the surface dynamics of the sample, which is the world's thinnest glass.
TOF measurements record the flight time of incident helium atoms scattered of the sample. At specular incidence (45 degrees) the largest peak in the sample is the elastic peak, which are all the helium atoms that scatter without exchanging energy with the sample. As the incident angle is varied, other peaks are also visible in the TOF specra. These are phonons, or other phonon like modes, that the helium atom can either excite or annihilate to loose or gain energy.
Layered and 2D materials exhibit out of plane vibrations, so called ZA phonon modes. These phonon modes have a dispersion relation that involves the bending rigidity of the sample.
By mapping out the ZA dispersion, i.e. repeating the TOF experiment for several different incident angles and identifying the ZA mode peaks, one can experimentally measure the bending rigidity of the sample.
As the sample is amorphous, it has also been used to study the boson peak phenomenon in a 2D material. The boson peak is a vibrational anomaly that occurs in glassy and amorphous materials, where the vibrational density of states exhibits an excess of vibrational modes above the Debye level in the low terahertz regime
Overview of sources for and specification of time series data for scenario simulations using the Pedersen et al. Barents Sea Ecosim model for the period 2000-2100
To run simulations using the large Pedersen et al. (2021) Barents Sea Ecosim model, time series with environmental drivers and biomass and catch data to compare with simulation output values are needed. This data set give an overview of time series that can be used to run simulations using the Ecosim model for the period 2000-2100. The Pedersen et al. (2021) Ecopath with Ecosim model have 108 functional groups and time series for biomass, relative biomass, catches, fishing mortality and environmental drivers (temperature, primary production, biomass forcing of some functional groups) are reviewed and listed in the time serie data files. These time series can be used to run future scenarios. There are three files with complete sets of time series for three alternative fishing mortality level scenarios; low fishing mortality, business as usual and high fishing mortality. There are also three alternative environmental drivers corresponding to the temperature time series for the RCP 2.6, RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5 scenarios from Bentley et al. (2017) and these are given as variables in each of the three time serie data sets. These data were compiled as part of the Nansen Legacy project

This data concerns directed endozoochorous seed disperal by passerine birds towards tree stumps and seedling establishment of berry-producing Vaccinium shrubs at such microsites. We collected data from 142 cut stumps and paired forest-floor plots in a managed borest forest in Trøndelag county, central Norway. The data files includes: (1) Vaccinium seedling and passerine scat counts at stump and paired forestfloor microsites; (2) environmental variables recorded at stump level; and (3) habitat variables derived from LiDAR data and land use maps. Article abstract: Berry-producing Vaccinium shrubs are keystone species in boreal forest ecosystems and their berries provide an essential food source for many vertebrates. In Fennoscandia, both the abundance and cover of Vaccinium have decreased in forests, with intensive forestry practice as a main driver. Vaccinium seedling recruitment is constricted to recruitment windows of opportunity and appears to be infrequent, mainly due to seed dispersal limitation. Passerine birds are key players in seed dispersal, which can be directed towards perching points such as coarse woody debris.
In this study, we investigated the potential for directed endozoochory by passerine birds towards cut stumps and if such stumps were viable recruitment windows for Vaccinium species, in an intensively managed boreal forest landscape of central Norway. We surveyed stump and paired forest floor microsites for passerine scat (i.e. potential seed rain) and Vaccinium seedlings. We collected passerine scat and conducted germination experiments to assess if they contained viable seed. We tested the microsite effect (i.e. forest floor/stump) on scat deposition and seedling establishment and then used modified ensemble classifiers to identify important environmental factors affecting scat deposition and seedling establishment patterns.
We found that passerine scat was disproportionally deposited on stumps, and that the vast majority of scat contained viable Vaccinium seed. Stumps were also suitable recruitment windows for Vaccinium species, as a higher probability of seedling establishment occurred at stumps compared with the forest floor. However, scat deposition and seedling establishment at stumps were rather contextual and determined by environmental variables. The probability of scat deposition increased with higher complexity of the vertical forest structure and lower canopy cover, whereas seedling establishment required bryophyte cover and larger stumps, or alternatively smaller stumps with competition-free spaces.
Our results highlight a pathway to successful sexual reproduction for Vaccinium species in managed forests: passerine birds direct endozoochorous seed dispersal towards tree stumps, which can offer suitable conditions for seedling establishment. However, the spatiotemporal variability both in forest stand structure and in stump conditions have a strong influence on the success of sexual recruitment via this pathway.</p

The dataset contains transcripts of parent-child communication over picture stimuli depicting motion events. The transcripts are partly-coded and transcribed in purpose of comparative analysis.
The data were collected in Czech republic (Czech native speakers, n=25), Russia (Russian native speakers, n=25), and Germany (Russian-German bilinguals with Russian as a dominant language, n=22). The transcriptions are in Czech, Russian, and German.
The data were collected in purpose of analysis of language-specific patterns while describing motion events. The transcripts are content-driven, without precise phonetic transcription.</p
Replication Data for HgCl2 addition to pore water samples from cold seeps can affect the geochemistry of dissolved inorganic carbon ([DIC], d13CDIC)
The conventional use of mercuric chloride (HgCl2) as an antimicrobial agent in water samples for dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) analysis poses health and environmental risks related to its handling and disposal. Even though there is an increasing interest in quantifying pore water DIC contribution to the ocean carbon cycle and deep-sea acidification, the paucity of comparative studies on marine pore waters prevents the modification of sampling protocols and HgCl2 still remains widely used. In this study we compared DIC concentrations and δ13CDIC composition in pore water samples from methane seepage areas in the Barents Sea and offshore N. Svalbard. Samples were extracted using 0.15 μm rhizon filters and split into two aliquots with 2–3 replicates each. Only one aliquot was treated with 10 μL saturated HgCl2(aq) and all samples were stored in the dark at 4 °C, prior to measurements ~30 days later. The samples yielded extremely wide ranges of DIC concentrations, from 1.8 mM to 20.1 mM, and δ13CDIC values, from −36.0‰ to −1.6‰ (VPDB), due to variable contributions of methane-derived DIC to the pore water system
Replication data for: Occupational therapy students' evidence-based practice skills as reported in a mobile app: A cross-sectional study
Evidence-based practice (EBP) is regarded as part of the healthcare education curriculum. EBP teaching methods should be multifaceted, interactive, clinically integrated, and include assessment. A mobile app, the EBPsteps, was developed for students to learn and document their EBP skills. The aim of this study was to assess occupational therapy students' EBP skills as reported in the EBPsteps mobile app.
Four cohorts of the 5th-semester occupational therapy (OT) students from different academic years (2018-2021) at HVL were invited to use the EBPsteps mobile app. Reports from the app, called Critically Appraised Topics (CATs), were collected from the EBPsteps app and exported from students' user accounts in the EBPsteps to Microsoft Excel®. We developed a scoring plan for each EBP step in the CATs, found in Appendix 1 in the article. This dataset includes 240 CATs written in Norwegian and delivered from the 119 OT students who chose to participate in the study

The dataset includes 511 cases of cancer recorded prospectively among 61,802 patients in primary care in six European countries.
Initial data were collected by completion of standardised forms containing closed questions about symptoms recorded during the consultation.
Follow-up data were provided by the general practitioner (GP) after diagnosis, based on medical record data made after the consultation
Data for ‘The interplay of computational complexity and memory load during quantifier verification’
Formal analysis of the minimal computational complexity of verification algorithms for natural language quantifiers implies that different classes of quantifiers demand the engagement of different cognitive resources for their verification. In particular, sentences containing proportional quantifiers, e.g., ‘most’, provably require a memory component, whereas non-proportional quantifiers, e.g., ‘all’, ‘three’, do not. In an ERP study, we tested whether previously observed differences between these classes were modulated by memory load. Participants performed a picture-sentence verification task while they had to remember a string of 2 or 4 digits to be compared to a second string at the end of a trial. Relative to non-proportional quantifiers, proportional quantifiers elicited a sentence-internal sustained negativity. Additionally, an interaction in ERP signals between Digit-Load and Quantifier-Class was observed at the sentence-final word. Our results suggest that constraints on cognitive resources deployed during human sentence processing and verification are of the same nature as formal constraints on abstract machines. Replication Data for: The acquisition of the English dative alternation by Russian Foreign Language Learners
Dataset abstract
The dataset contains the ratings for a 100-split task performed by Russian learners of English. 272 Russian learners were subdivided into two groups. One group rated 25 English sentences containing the dative alternation taken from the British National Corpus (BNC), the other group rated 25 Russian sentences (translations of the English ones) with the ditransitive alternation. The English sentences with the double object construction were translated into Russian sentences with the equivalent recipient/dative-theme /accusative order, while the English sentences with the to-dative construction were translated with the equivalent theme/accusative-Recipient/dative order. The dataset contains information about the Participants (Age, Gender, Year of Study, Study domain), the test Sentences (the reference to the BNC, the sentences in both languages, the observed dative construction in the BNC, and its main verb), and the Ratings for each Sentence by each Participant. The replication R code is additionally shared together with the output as an html-file.
Article abstract
Ditransitive verbs include a “recipient” and a “theme” argument (in addition to the subject). The choice of putting one argument before the other (i.e., either recipient-theme, or theme-recipient) is associated with multiple discourse-pragmatic
factors. Languages have different options to code the ditransitive construction. In
English, a ditransitive verb can take two alternating patterns (“the dative alternation”): the Double Object Construction (DOC) (John gives Mary a book) and
the to-dative construction (to-dative) (John gives a book to Mary). In Russian,
theme and recipient are marked by accusative and dative, respectively. In addition, word order is flexible and either the accusative-marked theme (Pjotr dal
knigu Marii), or the dative-marked recipient (Pjotr dal Marii knigu) can come
first. This article reports on two sentence rating experiments (acceptability judgments) to test whether Russian learners of English transfer their preferences about
the theme-recipient order in Russian to the ditransitive construction in English. A
total of 272 Russian students were tested. Results for both tests showed a great
variability in the ratings. A comparison of the ratings seems to suggest a small
positive correlation, but no statistically significant relation was found between the
order preferences in both languages. However, we found a small preference for the
use of the to-dative, which we relate to the language acquisition process as
proposed by Processability Theory</p
Replication Data for: S-polarized light-sheets improve resolution and light-efficiency in oblique plane microscopy
The software is written to simulate and analyze light-sheet imaging systems while preserving polarization information for an ensemble of dipoles. To trace the emission of a dipole while preserving the polarization information, the system is modelled using vectorial raytracing with non-paraxial 3x3 Jones matrices. To find the PSF, the field is then evaluated using vectorial Debye diffraction integral, here implemented using a Fourier transform. Evaluating the field at different offsets from the focus, the 3D PSF is calculated. This can be done for an ensemble of dipoles of arbitrary size. Using the traced field, the optical power loss due to refractive index changes can also be found. The OTF is then automatically evaluated to find the x-, y-, and z-resolution of the system. This is done by finding a cutoff power in the OTF, then finding the extent of the OTF in each axis.
For each lens in the system, the user can define the: NA, immersion medium refractive index, and lens rotation around the x-axis.
The user can also define the: camera grid size, voxel size, OTF sampling, light-sheet NA, light-sheet polarization, excitation and emission wavelength, number of dipoles in the ensemble, and signal to noise ratio
