    Data from Smoke Particle Impact Detector (SPID) rocket instrument

    It contains data from the smoke particle impact detector (SPID). SPID is a Faraday cup impact probe designed to measure nanometer-sized smoke particles, called meteoric smoke particles, in the mesosphere. These are remnants of meteors ablating in the atmosphere. The instrument was part of the G-chaser campaign launched from Andøya rocket range on the 13th of January 2019. The instrument consists of 5 girds, the two top and bottom grids with high bias voltages to shield ions and electrons. The middle plate (5th grid) is meant to measure only the smoke particles. The measurement consists of the current measured in the five grids given in ampere

    Grunnlagsdata for rapporten "Steinalderens råstoffbruk i de sørnorske fjelltraktene. Analyse av littisk materiale fra Auravassdraget" av Lotte Eigeland, Kulturhistorisk museum, UiO. Rapporten er tilgjengelig på https://www.duo.uio.no/handle/10852/109918. Rapporten er utarbeidet innenfor rammene av prosjektet "Kulturmøter i Auravassdraget" som er finansiert av ordningen "Sektoravgift for kulturminner i tidlig neddemte vassdrag". Prosjektet er et samarbeid mellom Kulturhistorisk museum, Innlandet fylkeskommune, NTNU Vitenskapsmuseet, Møre og Romsdal fylkeskommune og Sametinget. Samendrag: I denne rapporten har vi fått utnyttet noe av det store kunnskapspotensialet som ligger i råstoffsvariasjonen ved Auravassdraget. En klassifisering opp mot et kjent referansesystem har vist at det er mulig å identifisere typer etter en standardisert mal som er sammenlignbar og etterprøvbar. Dette gjør at vi kan diskutere råstoffsammensetningen ved Auravassdraget både i et lokalt, men også i et mye større geografisk perspektiv. Vi har nå identifisert hvilke råstoff som er mest brukt ved Auravassdraget, og vi vet hvilke som er mer sjeldne. Dette er viktig grunnforskning som kan brukes i framtidige undersøkelser. Aurvassdraget har for eksempel en helt annen råstoffsammensetning, når vi ser på individuelle typer, enn innsjøer som Osensjøen og Røgden, samt Rena elv lenger sør i Innlandet fylke. Dette viser nok at disse områdene ikke ble utnyttet av de samme folkene, men at det var kontakt mellom områdene, synes det ikke å være noen tvil om. Vi har også identifisert typiske råstoff som finnes ved Aurvassdraget ved Mørekysten. Kontakt mellom Mørekysten og Auravassdraget synes helt klar. Oppdagelsen eller “gjenoppdagelsen” av kleberstein, asbest og serpentinitt til å lage spisser i Øst-Norge er viktig. I framtiden vil vi være mer obs på å skille disse råstoffene fra skiferspisser. Materialene er mykere enn skifer og formes dermed på en annen måte. Disse spissene er identifisert ved Mørekysten og kan vise til kontakt med Auravassdraget. Materialet fra Auravassdraget egner seg også svært godt til videre studier av flatehuggingsteknologi og flateretusjering av spisser, og det er helt nødvendig å få en bedre oversikt over innflytelsene mellom en innlandsteknologi og den som finnes ved kysten. Kan det også være tidlig flatehuggingsteknologi i dette området? I dette arbeidet har råstoff og teknologi blitt undersøkt med et enhetlig blikk for å gi en samlet og standardisert framstilling av resultatene. Auravassdraget ligger i to forskjellige museumsdistrikt, og funn og råstoff har fram til nå blitt presentert og beskrevet på ulike måter. Et videre arbeid med Auravassdraget er også en god mulighet for å knytte museumstradisjoner nærmere sammen, slik at vi kan utveksle nødvendig informasjon og lære av hverandre.</p

Abstract from article: 19F NMR parameters are versatile probes for studying metal-fluoride complexes. Quantum chemical calculations of 19F NMR chemical shifts enhance the accuracy and validity of resonance signal assignments in complex spectra. However, the treatment of solvation effects in these calculations remains challenging. In this study, we establish a successful computational protocol using ab initio molecular dynamics simulations for the accurate prediction of 19F NMR chemical shifts in solution for the square-planar trans-[NiF(2,3,4,5-C6F4I)(PEt3)2] complex. Our computations revealed that accounting for the dynamic conformational flexibility of the complex, including intramolecular interactions, is crucial for obtaining reliable 19F NMR chemical shifts. Overall, our study advances the understanding of employing state-of-the-art quantum chemistry methods for the accurate model 19F NMR chemical shifts of metal-fluoride complexes in solution, emphasizing the importance of addressing solvation effects in such calculations

    Replication Data for: Emerging and legacy contaminants in common minke whale from the Barents sea

    This dataset was collected as part of the ARKTIS2030 project at the University of Oslo and Norwegian Orca Survey. The data has been published in Environmental Pollution doi: 10.1016/j.envpol.2023.121001 Persistent organic pollutants (POPs), including brominated flame retardants (BFRs), perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and metals, can accumulate in marine mammals and be transferred to offspring. In this study, we analyzed 64 lipophilic POPs, including four emerging BFRs, in the blubber, liver and muscle of 17 adult common minke whales (Balaenoptera acutorostrata) from the Barents Sea to investigate occurrence and tissue partitioning. In addition, the placental transfer concentration ratios of 14 PFAS and 17 metals were quantified in the muscle of nine female-fetus pairs to investigate placental transfer. Legacy lipophilic POPs were the dominating compound group in every tissue, and we observed generally lower levels compared to previous studies from 1992 to 2001. We detected the emerging BFRs hexabromobenzene (HBB) and pentabromotoluene (PBT), but in low levels compared to the legacy POPs. We detected nine PFAS, and levels of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) were higher than detected from the same population in 2011, whilst levels of Hg were comparable to 2011. Levels of lipophilic contaminants were higher in blubber compared to muscle and liver on both a wet weight and lipid adjusted basis, but tissue partitioning of the emerging BFRs could not be determined due to the high number of samples below the limit of detection. The highest muscle ΣPFAS levels were quantified in fetuses (23 ± 8.7 ng/g ww), followed by adult males (7.2 ± 2.0 ng/gg ww) and adult females (4.5 ± 1.1 ng/g ww), showing substantial placental transfer from mother to fetus. In contrast, Hg levels in the fetus were lower than the mother. Levels were under thresholds for risk of health effects in the whales. This study is the first to report occurrence and placental transfer of emerging contaminants in common minke whales from the Barents Sea, contributing valuable new data on pollutant levels in Arctic wildlife

    Dataset abstract This dataset contains the results from 40 language and speech researchers, who completed a survey. In the first part of the survey, respondents were asked to complete a demographic (e.g., age, gender, first language) and professional background questionnaire (e.g., current academic position, research interests). In addition, they were asked several open-ended questions about their familiarity with and understanding of the term ‘ecological validity’ (e.g., which words come to mind when you hear this term, how to measure the ecological validity of a study, how does ecological validity apply to your area of research). In the second part of the survey, respondents were presented with 24 short speech excerpts, representing 12 different stimulus types. They were asked to rate each speech excerpt on its degree of casualness (i.e. spontaneity) and naturalness, and how likely they are to encounter each excerpt in everyday listening situations.Article abstract This paper explores how researchers in the field of language and speech sciences understand and apply the concept of ecological validity. It also assesses the ecological validity of various stimulus materials, ranging from isolated word productions to sentences taken from authentic interviews. Forty researchers participated in a survey, which contained (i) a demographic and professional background questionnaire with open-ended questions about the definition, feasibility and desirability of ecological validity, and (ii) a speech rating task. In the rating task, respondents evaluated 24 speech excerpts, representing 12 types of stimulus materials, on their casualness, naturalness, and likelihood of occurrence in real-life contexts. The results showed that while most researchers acknowledge the importance of ecological validity, defining the necessary and sufficient criteria for evaluating or achieving it remains challenging. Regarding stimulus types, unscripted sentences from interviews and Map Task dialogues were rated as the most casual and natural. In contrast, carefully read sentences and digitally modified stimuli were viewed as the least casual and natural, although individual differences in rating were noticeable. Similarly, ratings for the likelihood of occurrence in everyday listening situations were highest for various types of extemporaneous speech. The survey responses not only enhance our theoretical understanding of ecological validity, but also raise awareness about the implications of methodological choices, such as the selection of tasks and stimulus materials, on the ecological validity of a study. </p

Three sets of 30 two-suffixed pseudowords were created, each based on a type of grammatical constraint attested in the literature, and presented along with 120 existing two-suffixed English words and 30 nonwords. The data aims to shed light on the as-yet understudied subject of the processing of two-suffixed complex words.</p

    Replication Data for: Vertical distribution of mites (Acari) in a forest bog in Western Norway

    Data come from samples collected by Torstein Solhøy and Anna Seniczak on 28th May 2008 in a forest bog in Neshalvøya, Kvam municipality, Vestland province, Norway (60.154°N 5.930°E, 35 m asl). At the bog four sites with Sphagnum mosses were selected and from each of them samples from 4 depths (0-5 cm, 5-10 cm, 10-15 cm, and 15-20 cm), each 10 cm x 20 cm of the area, were taken. Mites were extracted using modified Berlese funnels at the University of Bergen. Mite groups (Oribatida, Mesostigmata and Prostigmata) were counted under stereomicroscope, including both adults and juvenile instars. Oribatida were further determined to species using keys for adults and other publications to identify the juvenile instars
