An Online Hypertension Risk Monitoring System

    Get PDF
High Blood Pressure is a key risk factor for chronic kidney disease, haemorrhagic stroke, ischaemic stroke, heart failure, myocardial infarction, early death, and cognitive decline. It is still a problem for worldwide public health. The threat of hypertension and related disorders will be significantly reduced with early detection of hypertension and raising awareness. Having a web-based system will bring solutions to reducing its devastating effects on health. This study developed a hypertension risk monitoring web-based system that can be accessed by authorized medical practitioners and patients. The unified modeling language (UML) tools were used to design the system, and Web 2.0 technologies, MySQL, HTML, PHP, XML, Java, and CSS were used in its implementation. The local host Web-Apache-MySQL-PHP (WAMP) server was used to host the web-based hypertension risk monitoring system (BP_HRMSystem). Utilizing previously gathered hospital data for testing, the deployed system produced 100% accuracy. To offer reliable, fast, and comprehensive information regarding hypertension, it would be crucial to adopt this approach for monitoring hypertension risks. Medical practitioners and patients can use this hypertension risk monitoring system to identify, classify, diagnose, and manage hypertension and associated risk

    Get PDF
The Graphical Processing Units (GPU) and Central Processing Units (CPU) performance in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) has improved in recent years. Many researchers have worked in comparative analysis of GPU and CPU, but a lacuna was discovered in the area of importance of HCI-which is securing user satisfaction. This paper aims to review the performance evaluation of CPU and GPU systems. Questionnaire and experimental models were used for evaluation. Questionnaires were distributed to evaluate the level of user satisfaction, using demands and usability parameters. In experimental models, tools of evaluation were downloading PDF and textfiles. Parameters used to assess satisfaction were speed, storage capacity and execution time. The results of the evaluated performances on GPU and CPU systems based on the evaluation parameters were derived from the questionnaire and experimental data. Questionnaire results have shown that a lesser number of users demand GPU due to its high price, and a large number of users demand CPU due to its low cost of finance, despite its disadvantages. Based on the experimental model, resources were tested for two weeks with different test data and environments which showed that the GPU works faster than the CPU in terms of speed and storage capacity. The results of the functionality and performance level of the two processors showed how GPU obeys the laws of the user interface design principle and satisfied the importance of HCI by securing user satisfaction. Users in the area of Photography, Cinema, Film Production companies, etc. should be engaged with the use of GPU than CPU systems

Also, higher institutions should put in place strategic plan for impacting employability skills in their students, so as to prepare them for the tasks of life after schooling

Nigeria today lives in socially functional challenging times that make the state to be in a state of terror and has become quite paranoid and fearful of flying, of going to certain places, and fearful of certain people. These insecurity indices informed Nigerian search security, peace, and peace building through various methods that have yielded minimal positive results. Using the structural-functional theory, the paper qualitatively provided answers to questions such as: What roles can women play in curbing insecurity in Nigeria? To what extent has the women’s roles and position been utilized by the Nigerian government in peace and security? To what extent have previous security strategies of government worked without women's involvement? The paper revealed that without the adequate engagement of women in the management of insecurity the Nigerian search for a secured Nigeria may not yield the desired result. Women are veritable tools in the development of peace and security and should therefore not be neglected

This study examined the relationship between arrogance leadership, teachers’ job satisfaction and organisational commitment in Lagos State tertiary institutions. Two hypotheses (tested at 0.05 level of significance) guided the study. Correlational research design was adopted for the study, while the population comprised of all lecturers in Lagos State owned tertiary institutions. The sample size was 180 lecturers after stratifying the population into University, College of Education and Polytechnic and thereafter selected through purposive sampling technique. Analysis was carried out using inferential statistics of Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient Analysis, using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 24.0. Findings indicated that a negative and non-significant relationship existed between arrogance leadership and teachers’ job satisfaction in Lagos State tertiary institutions (r = 0.986, ?>0.05) and a positive and non-significant relationship existed between arrogance leadership and organisational commitment in Lagos State tertiary institutions (r = 0.713, ?>0.05). It was concluded that arrogance leadership is present in Lagos State tertiary institutions, as evidenced in the study. The study therefore recommended that the leaders (HODs, Deans and Vice-Chancellors) of tertiary institutions should be exposed to professional development, training and opportunities particularly in leadership before placement for leadership positions

It has been reported that most students in Public Secondary Schools (PSSs) perform poorly in Mathematics and English Language (EL) in Senior Secondary Certificate Examination. Studies have considered household factors, teachers’ effectiveness and school location without given attention to e-examination. This study therefore, examined Eexamination and Student Academic Achievement (SAA) in PSSs in Ibadan Metropolis (IM), Oyo State, Nigeria. Descriptive survey research design was adopted. Multi-stage sampling procedure was used to select 500 respondents of which 420 respondents returned the instruments. Simple random and proportionate to size sampling technique was used to sample two Local Governments (LGs) and 25 PSSs, while 20 respondents from each school were selected using purposive sampling technique. E-Examination Questionnaire and Achievement Test for Mathematics and EL were developed for data collection. Reliability coefficient for each instrument was 0.78 and 0.85. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to answer research questions and test hypotheses. The result found that SAA was poor. Report revealed that the extent at which E-examination is being practiced in PSSs was high. The result equally indicated that, relationship was found between Eexamination and SAA in PSSs while an insignificant difference was obtained between male and female SAA. Stakeholders in education should place more priority on academic achievement of PSSs
