URL : http://journals.openedition.org/hybrid/5001 ; DOI : https://doi.org/10.4000/13ut2The Hybrid issue, dedicated to memes, that you are reading is the sequel to an earlier issue titled Birth and Rebirth of Memes. The lives and vitality of memes published in November 2024. That issue focused on defining memes and their perimeters, the diverse forms of memetic life that populate our communicational spaces, as well as the processes of meme creation. In this second volume, we want to bring the communicational object that is the meme into the arena of reception, to carefully observe from that vantage point how meme representations, social lives, and the practices associated with memes evolve.

Multiple imputation of incomplete multilevel data using Heckman selection models

18 pages, 7 figuresInternational audienceMissing data is a common problem in medical research, and is commonly addressed using multiple imputation. Although traditional imputation methods allow for valid statistical inference when data are missing at random (MAR), their implementation is problematic when the presence of missingness depends on unobserved variables, that is, the data are missing not at random (MNAR). Unfortunately, this MNAR situation is rather common, in observational studies, registries and other sources of real‐world data. While several imputation methods have been proposed for addressing individual studies when data are MNAR, their application and validity in large datasets with multilevel structure remains unclear. We therefore explored the consequence of MNAR data in hierarchical data in‐depth, and proposed a novel multilevel imputation method for common missing patterns in clustered datasets. This method is based on the principles of Heckman selection models and adopts a two‐stage meta‐analysis approach to impute binary and continuous variables that may be outcomes or predictors and that are systematically or sporadically missing. After evaluating the proposed imputation model in simulated scenarios, we illustrate it use in a cross‐sectional community survey to estimate the prevalence of malaria parasitemia in children aged 2‐10 years in five regions in Uganda

Comparison between modulated-pulsed and continuous wave laser powder bed fusion on an Inconel 625 alloy

International audienceUsing pulsed or modulated laser irradiation for laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) manufacturing can be an attractive solution for better controlling heat input, mastering geometry, and tuning microstructures of built samples. A comparison was made between a continuous wave (CW) and a modulated pulsed wave (PW) L-PBF process, considering high pulse frequencies (50 kHz), various duty cycles, and an Inconel 625 powder. In the first step, considering the precise shape of laser pulses, the peak powers were adjusted to provide similar mean powers between PW and CW and analyze the specific effect of the pulse regime at constant mean power. In the second step, single L-PBF beads were considered. The PW regime was shown to reduce the process window on (P, V) maps, increase powder-denudated widths around scan tracks, and slightly reduce the dimensions (depth, width, area) of fusion beads. In the third step, 3D samples were manufactured with PW (with duty cycles of 0.9 and 0.7 ) and CW regimes. The PW regime was shown to slightly increase the porosity rate, reduce the mean grain size by 30-40 %, and modify the crystallographic texture

Productions des groupes thématiques numériques (Direction du numérique pour l'éducation du Ministère de l'Éducation nationale, de l'Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche)The GTnum CreaJV (Groupe thématique numérique “Apprendre avec le jeu numérique” 2021-2024 #CreaJV) has implemented and observed video game creation workshops in the classroom, from primary to BTS. These workshops are experimental grounds for observing whether the experiential learning pedagogy that underpins these workshops can be used to engage all students, including young girls, who are less numerous in IT and digital streams. In this newsletter, we offer a state-of-the-art review of the impact of video game creation workshops on the issue of gender diversity.

“Non-take up”, “Access to social rights”, “Anti-discrimination”: Reframing equality in France

    No full text
International audienceThis article analyzes policy frames that address the transformation of the conception of inequalities in the French context. In the past thirty years, socio-economic and socio-cultural transformations have challenged the French version of social citizenship and its conception of equality and had impacts on welfare provision and social policies. In our view, policy frames consist of normative goals that need to be institutionalized by wayof authoritative texts. This process of institutionalization creates opportunities for further development of specific ideas on an institutional level. We have scrutinized the way policy frames relevant to non-take up of social rights / access to social rights and policy frames related to the fight against discrimination have circulated between various public spheres. We then analyze legal texts that have institutionalized these policy frames. The articleshows that the recent reframing of equality in the context of a dense historical legacy has triggered a consequent process of institutional change. The concrete enactment of these new norms remains fragile as it depends on social mobilizations and political support

Innovation pédagogiqueIn the relationship and communication that develops between an educator and a young deafblind child, we were able to access an interaction showing what the different modes of communication contribute to language communication alone. This self-confrontation of an educator watching the film of her intervention enables us to analyse the game of hands and rhythms that she proposes to the child. The aim is to build a support for exchanges and to construct a trace that can be reactivated in other interactions. Research into these experiences is an ideal way of gaining an understanding of the learning process and, in particular, the way in which it is linked in the relationship between the child and the teacher.

Electrochemical detection of lead, cadmium, and mercury with selective preconcentration on ligand-modified electrodes

    No full text
International audienceDetecting Metallic Trace Elements (MTEs), especially toxic ones like cadmium, lead, and mercury, remains a key research focus. While methods using aptamers, molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are gaining attention, electrochemical sensors with organic ligands remain widely studied due to their simple preparation, durability, and reusability. Metal-selective ligands are also increasingly integrated with MOFs and MIPs for enhanced performance. This review examines recent advancements in electrochemical sensors based on metal-ligand complexation over the past seven years, with a focus on ligand design role in sensor efficiency. The first part addresses generic ligands and strategies for achieving sensor selectivity and sensitivity. The subsequent sections review the literature on specific sensors designed for cadmium, lead, and mercury detection. Special consideration is given to sensor stability and repeatability, key parameters for practical applications. The discussion also covers sensor performance in real samples and interference studies, highlighting their relevance for environmental monitorin
