    No full text
    We determine the Solutions f : S → H of the generalized Jensen’s functional equation f( x + σ(y)) + f( x + τ(y)) = 2f(x), x , y∈ Sand the solutions f : S → H of the generalized quadratic functional equationf ( x + σ(y)) + f (x + τ(y)) = 2f (x) + 2f (y),    x, y ∈ S,where S is a commutative semigroup, H is an abelian group (2-torsion free in the first equation and uniquely 2-divisible in the second) and σ, τ are two involutions of S

Similarity Solution of Spherical Shock Waves -Effect of Viscosity

    No full text
In this paper we investigated self-similar Solutions for Magneto Hy-drodynamic shock waves for the equation of state of Mie-Gruneisen type. Solutions are obtained numerically and the effect of viscosity (K) and the non-idealness parameter (d) on the self-similar solutions are studied in detail. The findings confirmed that, the non-idealness parameter and the viscosity parameter have major effect on the shock strength and the flow variables. All discontinuities of the physical pa-rameters are removed by the viscosity and complete flow field depends upon the magnitude of the viscosity. The obtained results are in good agreement with the results obtained by some of the researchers. All the analysis is presented pictorially in this paper

On the asymptotic behaviour of solutions of certain differential equations of the third order

    No full text
In this article, Lyapunov second method is used to obtain criteria for uniform ultimate boundedness and asymptotic behaviour of solutions of nonlinear differential equations of the third order. The results obtained in this investigation include and extend some well known results on third order nonlinear differential equations in the literature

CDMs represent a multidimensional choice in psychometrics when observable and latent variables are believed to be categorical. The study presents a thorough revision of the literature about original models, as well as its applications and current developments in psychometric research. Additionally, a revision of statistical software to estimate models and examples of applications in behavioral sciences and health care is also presented. Didactic examples based on simulated data show the capability of models to classify people according to their latent attributes.

INTRODUCTION: Adapting to chronic disease is a complex process influenced by psychosocial factors. Considering the rather limited time of medical consultations, it would be beneficial to have instruments that evaluate these psychosocial factors quickly and easily, allowing the identification of potential focuses of intervention. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the psychometric properties of a questionnaire that assesses coping with chronic illness, social support and eating behavior in people with diabetes and/or hypertension. METHODS: The questionnaire is composed of a set of 25 items generated by both the authors and existing questionnaires. The subjects for this study are 216 diabetes and/or hypertension patients, who joined a remote monitoring program for these pathologies. The analysis considered parallel analyzes for the number of factors, factorial analysis (principal axis), reliability and multiple linear or logistic regression with data reported by the patients (for example, HbA1c) as well as and observable data obtained with a telemonitoring program (biochemical glycemia data and/or blood pressure and adherence to the program). RESULTS: Five factors were identified: active, avoidance and passive resignation coping, overfeeding and social support. Factors presented a reliability of .54 to .91. Coping strategies were associated with adherence to treatments and pathology severity. CONCLUSIONS: Results suggest the questionnaire has acceptable psychometrical properties, allowing the identification of psychosocial aspects that influence the management and prognosis of the pathology.INTRODUCCIÓN: La adaptación a la enfermedad crónica es un proceso complejo que se ve influenciado por aspectos psicosociales.

This paper aims to determine the predicting role of psychological well-being and satisfaction with life in social welfare in Ecuadorian university students. METHOD: The sample was composed of 449 students from a public university and a semi-private one both located in the city of Ambato, Ecuador. These participants were evaluated with the Satisfaction with Life, Psychological Welfare and Social Welfare questionnaires. Results in each university were compared and correlated with a hierarchical multiple linear regression. RESULTS: There is correlation between satisfaction with life and psychological well-being r = .598; p <.001. Moreover, satisfaction with life r = .447; p <.001 and psychological well-being r = .568; p <.001 correlate with social welfare. The elements of psychological well-being explain in 48.6% the changes in the social welfare variance. CONCLUSION: Results show that psychological well-being is a predictor of social well-being; therefore, it impacts significantly on its dynamics

On wreath product of permutation groups

    No full text
This report is essentially an upgrade of the results of Audu (see [1] and [2]) on some finite permutation groups. It consists of the basic procedure for computing wreath product of groups. We also discussed the conditions under which the wreath products of permutation groups are faithful, transitive and primitive. Further, the centre of the stabilizer and the centre of wreath products was investigated and finally, an illustration was supplied to support our findings
