Innovation in KIBS Firms: The effects of innovation activities, employees level of education, and the sources in the supply chain

    No full text
There has been a growing interest in the study of knowledge-intensive business services (KIBS) due to the important role that they play in the business processes of their clients. They are characterized by high proportions of expert labour in their workforces. Even though extant literature assumes that KIBS firms are innovators, there is evidence that not all KIBS are equally innovative. Our exploratory research uses data gathered from the National Innovation Survey and uses the LOGIT model on a sample of 311 Peruvian KIBS firms. The effects of innovation activities, employee level of education and interplay in the supply chain on adoption innovations are determined. Findings indicate that not all innovation activities positively affect innovation. We found that most of these activities are related more to technological innovation than non-technological innovation, and the hiring of graduated personnel favours the development of organizational innovation. However, the interplay with customers, suppliers, and competitors has no present positive results concerning the adoption of innovations. Lastly, we conclude by highlighting the importance of managers crafting their innovation portfolios properly and the need for further research to determine the innovative behaviour of KIBS firms in the Latin American context

Forensic Analysis of Cyber Attacks Using the Cyber Kill Chain Model to Enhance Antivirus Protection in an IT Solutions Company

    No full text
Currently, a significant number of cyber-attacks continue to be successfully executed in Peru due to a lack of understanding of the life cycle or phases of an attack. To address this, information was collected on a set of attacks detected by a company's antivirus solution with the aim of analyzing and categorizing them based on the phases of the Cyber Kill Chain model. To assess the effectiveness of the implemented antivirus solution's protection, metrics were employed for detection, blocking, neutralization, and compromise. Mitigation actions considered the real-time blocking level, heuristic analysis, behavior monitoring, traffic inspection, and data recovery. The results indicate an improvement when combining antivirus protection with the Cyber Kill Chain methodology, raising the effectiveness rate from 80% to 100% for the successfully compromised threat. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024

Information security is currently crucial for all organizations, and the implementation of an Information Security Management System (ISMS) based on ISO/IEC 27001:2022 is presented as a framework of excellence to address threats. cyber and protect information assets. This research will use the MAGERIT methodology to analyze and manage information systems, integrating it with the ISMS to identify assets, analyze risks, determine safeguards, and establish risk treatment measures. As a result of the implementation, there is an increase in confidentiality controls from 9 to 12, and a reduction in incidents from 40 to 12. Likewise, there is an increase in integrity controls from 9 to 15, and a reduction in incidents from 52 to 30. Regarding to availability, there is an increase in controls from 9 to 18 and a decrease in incidents from 49 to 29; thus, demonstrating a successful implementation in the evaluated categories. Finally, it is important to highlight information security in the internet services sector to protect data, mitigate risks, ensure customer trust, and comply with legal regulations in an increasingly threatening digital environment. © 2024 IEEE

Perceived Value, Environmental Awareness and Intention to Purchase Meat with Carbon Neutral Meat Seal (CCN)

    No full text
Consumers, especially those who partake in meat consumption, have exhibited an increasing inclination toward sustainable products. Notwithstanding this societal shift, there remains a gap in understanding how perceived value (measured by the Perval Scale) contributes to consumer behavior. Consequently, this study aims to examine the impact of perceived value on the purchase intention of Carbon Neutral Meat (CCN) certified beef and how environmental consciousness impacts this intention. To achieve this goal, a survey was conducted among consumers of beef responsible for purchasing it for their households. The questionnaire was completed by a sample of 256 consumers, using the Perval scale as a basis. For data analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) techniques were employed. Four AFC models were estimated, and the SEM model connected the constructs. The results demonstrated that the perceived value has a positive and significant impact on the intention to purchase beef with the CCN seal. Additionally, it was found that environmental awareness positively influences the intention, although the influence is relatively low. © 2023 Taylor & Francis

    No full text
The services provided from biodiversity and ecosystems are endangered by the various activities carried out by human. Among them, mining and agricultural activities have contributed to the loss of biodiversity and deterioration of ecosystems, however the damage generated by mining is overshadowed by the economic benefits it brings. Thus, the objective of this study was to compile scientific literature that helps to determine the way in which these activities harm biodiversity and ecosystems, as well as the negative effects that they trigger between them. To do this, original and review articles from the Web of science, Scopus and Scielo databases were used. The findings show that there is contamination with heavy metals, a product of mining and the use of agrochemicals by agricultural activity. However, there are negative externalities generated in a unidirectional manner, with agricultural production being subject to the damage caused by mining

Evaluating asset pricing anomalies: Evidence from Latin America

    No full text

Open innovation has garnered considerable attention from scholars over the last decade, particularly in low technology-intensive sectors, including the food business. This sector significantly influences the gross domestic product of developed and emerging nations and plays a crucial role in creating jobs. Our study used a quantitative structural equation method on 1,384 Colombian food enterprises. The findings suggest that employing the incoming open innovation strategy, enhanced by absorptive ability, promotes product innovation development in food firms. Empirical evidence demonstrates that absorptive capacity partially mediates the link between incoming open innovation and product innovation. Food firms should enhance their engagement with customers, suppliers, competitors, colleges, and consultants to expand their knowledge base. They also improve their absorptive ability, enabling them to introduce solutions that meet customer needs in a more competitive landscape. © (2024), (Corporacion Universitaria Lasallista).
