On blow up for the energy super critical defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equations
International audienceWe consider the energy supercritical defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation i ∂ t u + Δ u - u | u | p - 1 = 0 in dimension d ≥ 5 . In a suitable range of energy supercritical parameters ( d , p ), we prove the existence of C ∞ well localized spherically symmetric initial data such that the corresponding unique strong solution blows up in finite time. Unlike other known blow up mechanisms, the singularity formation does not occur by concentration of a soliton or through a self similar solution, which are unknown in the defocusing case, but via a front mechanism . Blow up is achieved by compression for the associated hydrodynamical flow which in turn produces a highly oscillatory singularity. The front blow up profile is chosen among the countable family of C ∞ spherically symmetric self similar solutions to the compressible Euler equation whose existence and properties in a suitable range of parameters are established in the companion paper (Merle et al. in Preprint (2019)) under a non degeneracy condition which is checked numerically
Revisiting the molecular interactions between the tumor protein TCTP and the drugs sertraline/thioridazine.
International audienceTCTP protein is a pharmacological target in cancer and TCTP inhibitors such as sertraline have been evaluated in clinical trials. The direct interaction of TCTP with the drugs sertraline and thioridazine has been reported in vitro by SPR experiments to be in the ~30-50 µM Kd range (Amson et al. Nature Med 2012), supporting a TCTP-dependent mode of action of the drugs on tumor cells. However, the molecular details of the interaction remain elusive although they are crucial to improve the efforts of on-going medicinal chemistry. In addition, TCTP can be phosphorylated by the Plk-1 kinase, which is indicative of poor prognosis in several cancers. The impact of phosphorylation on TCTP structure/dynamics and binding with therapeutical ligands remains unexplored. Here, we combined NMR, TSA, SPR, BLI and ITC techniques to probe the molecular interactions between TCTP with the drugs sertraline and thioridazine. We reveal that drug binding is much weaker than reported with an apparent ~mM Kd and leads to protein destabilization that obscured the analysis of the published SPR data. We further demonstrate by NMR and SAXS that TCTP S46 phosphorylation does not promote tighter interaction between TCTP and sertraline. Accordingly, we question the supported model in which sertraline and thioridazine directly interact with isolated TCTP in tumor cells and discuss alternative modes of action for the drugs in light of current literature
Contrast estimation of time-varying infinite memory processes
International audienceThis paper aims at providing statistical guarantees for a kernel-based estimation of time-varying parameters driving the dynamic of infinite memory processes introduced by Doukhan and Wintenberger \cite{DW}. We then extend the results of Dahlhaus {\it et al.} \cite{DRW} on local stationary Markov processes to other important models such as the GARCH model. The estimators are computed as localized M-estimators of any contrast satisfying appropriate regularity conditions. % as in Bardet and Wintenberger \cite{BW}. We prove the uniform consistency and the pointwise asymptotic normality of such kernel-based estimators. We apply our results to usual contrasts such as least-square, least absolute value, or quasi-maximum likelihood contrasts. Various time-varying models such as AR), ARCH and LARCH are considered. We discuss their approximation of locally stationary ARMA and GARCH models under contraction conditions. Numerical experiments demonstrate the efficiency of the estimators on both simulated and real data sets
Camera, LiDAR and Multi-modal SLAM Systems for Autonomous Ground Vehicles: a Survey
International audienceSimultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) have been widely studied over the last years for autonomous vehicles. SLAM achieves its purpose by constructing a map of the unknown environment while keeping track of the location. A major challenge, which is paramount during the design of SLAM systems, lies in the efficient use of onboard sensors to perceive the environment. The most widely applied algorithms are camera-based SLAM and LiDAR-based SLAM. Recent research focuses on the fusion of camera-based and LiDAR-based frameworks that show promising results. In this paper, we present a study of commonly used sensors and the fundamental theories behind SLAM algorithms. The study then presents the hardware architectures used to process these algorithms and the performance obtained when possible. Secondly, we highlight state-of-the-art methodologies in each modality and in the multi-modal framework. A brief comparison followed by future challenges is then underlined. Additionally, we provide insights to possible fusion approaches that can increase the robustness and accuracy of modern SLAM algorithms; hence allowing the hardware-software co-design of embedded systems taking into account the algorithmic complexity and the embedded architectures and real-time constraints
La propension du client à éviter de demander assistance : conceptualisation et développement d’une échelle
International audienceLe consommateur est de plus en plus confronté à des processus et des technologies complexes dans le cadre de sa consommation quotidienne. Les difficultés qui en découlent peuvent entraver son expérience et avoir des conséquences négatives sur la satisfaction, le bouche à oreille et les comportements de réachat. Bien que les entreprises proposent très souvent une assistance à la clientèle, beaucoup de clients ne font pas la démarche de demander assistance. Dans cette recherche, nous présentons un cadre issu de la psychologie sociale qui souligne les menaces perçues par l’individu envisageant de demander assistance afin de mieux expliquer les comportements d’évitement d’une telle demande. Ce travail donne lieu à l’élaboration et au développement du construit de « propension à éviter de demander assistance ». Il participe ainsi à la compréhension des facteurs déclenchant ou inhibant le comportement de demande d’assistance chez les clients. En proposant et en validant une nouvelle échelle de mesure de ce comportement, la présente recherche apporte une contribution méthodologique à la littérature. Elle concourt par ailleurs à mieux expliquer le comportement des clients préférant renoncer à l’utilisation d’un produit ou d’un service plutôt que de demander assistance

International audienceLa « littérature des banlieues », ou du moins les ouvrages classés dans cette appellation dont Serena Cello a rappelé la dimension problématique, ne jouissent pas toujours d'une grande considération littéraire : Bien que ces ouvrages ne passent pas inaperçus, les écrivains se trouvent en premier lieu considérés comme des phénomènes de mode ou de société plutôt que comme de véritables auteurs. Il est ainsi difficile pour eux de se libérer du fardeau des origines, d'autant plus qu'ils sont animés par un désir de revanche et de reconnaissance sociale. De plus, ils peinent à se défaire des étiquettes qu'on leur attribue : « Les médias nous conjuguent au pluriel 1 » assure Djaïdani, qui refuse au contraire d'être catalogué et se présente comme étant singulier, insaisissable 2
