Get PDFDemographic data are necessary to predict population responses to environmental and anthropogenic stressors and inform conservation efforts for declining species (Weimerskirch 2018, J.Wildl. Manag.).
The western alligator snapping turtle (Macrochelys temminckii; hereafter AST; Fig. 5) is the largest species of freshwater turtle in North America and is being considered for Federal listing as a Threatened Species under the Endangered Species Act (Federal Register 2021). Notably, there is a lack of demographic data of AST in Texas.
Passive fishing gear (i.e., trotlines) have been identified as a pervasive threat to AST populations, although this threat has yet to be quantified inTexas (Steen and Robinson 2017, Conserv. Biol.).
The purpose of this project is to examine the demography of Texas AST populations in habitats of varying intensities of passive fishing pressure. We hypothesize lower density estimates (Fig. 2), smaller body sizes (Fig. 3), and a near equal proportion of subadult and adult ASTs (Fig. 5) in habitats subjected to passive fishing gear

There is a need to further investigate the advantages and disadvantages of various drone types for marine mammal studies when it comes to disturbance factors.
Three commonly used DJI drone platforms were used to evaluate how drones affect the behavior of dolphins, the DJI Mini 2 the DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced, and the DJI Inspire 2.
The DJI Mavic Enterprise Advanced is infrared thermography ( capable, meaning it can take thermal photographs With this drone, we want to test if a dolphin\u27s breath was visible in IRT If possible, this could be a useful tool for tracking wild dolphins in murky water.
We collected response data in 2022 from 11 animals under human care at Dolphin Quest Bermuda, a public facility accredited by American Humane and the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums.

Get PDFI have created a career performing various types of music on the mandolin. Very little of the concert repertoire, however, includes music originally written for the mandolin with most of it consisting of rearrangements of violin, cello, or piano music. This observation has led me down a path to learn why there is a lack of mandolin concert repertoire as well as to create new music specifically written for the instrument. In this thesis, an original mandolin concerto, Bloom, aims not only to add to the instrument’s repertoire, but bring it into the twenty-first century using contemporary compositional techniques. I identify and explore the methods of three living composers, and then describe how these tools are incorporated into my own piece scored for mandolin soloist and string orchestra
Exploration of the Relationships Between Principal Preparation Program Admission Requirements and Program Performance
Get PDFAdmission criteria for principal preparation programs vary from state to state and even amongst universities within the same state. Despite the recommendation nearly two decades ago to connect admission criteria to leadership standards, little research has been done to help develop such criteria. This study examined principal preparation program admissions requirements at one southern university to determine if a relationship existed between admission criteria, academic program performance, and performance on educational leadership licensure assessments. The Pearson product-moment correlation found a statistically significant correlation between, both, the GRE and GRE Writing assessments and the School Leadership Licensure Assessment for educational administrator certification
