Is age just a number: MPs over the age of 60 – What should determine an MPs retirement?
This infographic is available in English, Sinhala and TamilDuring the interim budget 2022 reading President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that a mandatory retirement age of 60 will be imposed for state sector employees. These infographics show the details of MPs above 60 years of age. There are 70 MPs and the President who are above 60 years. Of this 70, 11 are cabinet ministers, which is more than 50% of the total 20 ministers of the Cabinet. Infographics highlights that of 70 MPs above 60, 47 MPs have not ever held ministerial portfolios while 23 have at least once held a ministerial portfolio in the 9th parliament.
