Kilise korosunda ilahi söyleyen bireylerin ses özelliklerinin incelenmesi = Examining the vocal characteristics of individuals singing in the church choir

Çalışma kapsamında temel amaç kilise korosunda ilahi söyleyen bireylerin ses önceliklerinin belirlenmesidir. Bununla birlikte ses eğitimi alıp kilise korosunda ilahi söyleyen bireyler, ses eğitimi almayıp kilise korosunda ilahi söyleyen bireyler ve gönüllü bireyler olmak üzere oluşturulan üç grubun ses özelliklerinin karşılaştırılması da araştırmanın temel amaçlarındandır. Son olarak demografik özelliklere bağlı olarak bireylerin ses özelliklerinin farklılık gösterip göstermediğinin belirlenmesi de araştırmanın bir diğer amacıdır. Araştırma modeli olarak nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden olan nedensel – karşılaştırma modeli tercih edilmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında 45 kişiye ulaşılmıştır.Katılımcıların yaşları 15 ile 70 yaş arasında değişkenlik göstermektedir. Cinsiyet dağılımı ise 26 kadın, 19 erkek şeklindedir. Eğitimli grubun ve eğitimsiz grubun %53,3'ü kadın (8) iken %47,7'si (7) erkektir. Gönüllü grubun ise %66,6'si (10) kadın, %33,3'ü (5) erkektir. Eğitimli grubun yaş ortalaması 42.73 iken standart sapması 13.54'dür. Eğitimsiz grubun yaş ortalaması 32.93, standart sapması ise 10.2 iken gönüllü grubun yaş ortalaması 38.4, standart sapması 7.66'dır. Yapılan analizler doğrultusunda cinsiyet değişkeni bakımından (p=0.802), yaş değişkeni bakımından (p=0.054), sigara alkol kullanımı değişkeni bakımından (p=0.601 ve p=0.816), ameliyat olma değişkeni bakımından (p=0.601), şikayet değişkeni bakımından (p=0.420), alerji varlığı bakımından (p=0.816), s/z ölçümleri değişkeni bakımından (p=0.760) ve V-RQOL değişkeni bakımından (p=0.840) istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Yapılan incelemeler sonucunda çalışma öncesinde ön görüldüğü üzere cinsiyet, yaş, sigara kullanımı, alkol kullanımı ve sağlık durumu gibi demografik değişkenlerin bireylerin ses düzeylerinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılığa yol açmadığı belirlenmiştir. Bununla birlikte VSHI ve MFS gibi daha spesifik değerlerin ses üzerindeki etkilerinin daha yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir.Kurtaran, M . (2022). The main purpose of the study is to determine the vocal priorities of individuals singing hymns in the church choir. In addition, one of the main objectives of the research is to compare the vocal characteristics of three groups: individuals who have received voice training and sing in the church choir, individuals who have not received voice training but sing in the church choir, and volunteer individuals. Finally, another aim of the research is to determine whether individuals' voice characteristics differ depending on demographic characteristics. The causal-comparative model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was preferred as the research model. Within the scope of the research, 45 people were reached. The ages of the participants vary between 15 and 70 years. Gender distribution is 26 women, 19 men. While 53.3% of the educated group and the uneducated group are women (8), 47.7% (7) are men. Of the volunteer group, 66.6% (10) are women and 33.3% (5) are men. While the average age of the educated group is 42.73, its standard deviation is 13.54. While the mean age of the uneducated group is 32.93 and the standard deviation is 10.2, the mean age of the volunteer group is 38.4 and the standard deviation is 7.66. In line with the analyses, in terms of gender variable (p=0.802), in terms of age variable (p=0.054), in terms of smoking and alcohol use variable (p=0.601 and p=0.816), in terms of surgery variable (p=0.601), in terms of complaint variable. It was determined that there was no statistically significant difference in terms of (p = 0.420), presence of allergy (p = 0.816), s/z measurement variable (p = 0.760) and V-RQOL variable (p = 0.840). As a result of the examinations, it was determined that demographic variables such as gender, age, smoking, alcohol use and health status did not cause a statistically significant difference in the voice levels of individuals, as predicted before the study. However, it has been determined that more specific values such as VSHI and MFS have higher effects on the sound
Reducing PatientWaiting Time in Ultrasonography Using Simulation and IoT Application
In this study, the ultrasound (US) department of a private hospital located in the most densely populated region of Istanbul is discussed. Patients can come to the US Department randomly from outpatient clinic, emergency, or inpatient departments. The time between patients' arrival at the US department varies according to hours. The types and durations of US procedures also differ in patients who come to the US department from different units. The aim of the study is to minimize the waiting time in the US department and the total time spent in the US according to the units they come from and the type of procedure to be performed. By analyzing the current situation, the performance indicators of the US department of the hospital, the average waiting time of the patients, the utilization rates of the doctors and the time spent by the patient in the US were examined. The system was modeled using the simulation method and the current state performance criteria were calculated. With the changes to be made in IoT applications and alternative system design, it is aimed to minimize the waiting time and the time spent by the patients in the system
Evaluation of Mortality in Height-Experiencing Falls in Patients with Height and Traffic Accidents
Aim: To evaluate the factors influencing mortality in patients admitted to the emergency department due to falls from height and traffic accidents, based on injury patterns and clinical characteristics. Materials and Methods: This retrospective analysis included 2348 trauma patients who experienced traffic accidents or falls from a height. The demographic and clinical characteristics of the patients were examined. Factors affecting mortality were evaluated using statistical Results: Among the traumas, 90.3% were due to traffic accidents and 9.7% to falls from a height. Patients who fell from a height were found to have a lower Glasgow Coma scale (GCS) score (p=0.002). Hospitalization and mortality rates were higher in patients who fell from heights (p=0.001 and p=0.038, respectively). Mortality was significantly higher in patients with injuries to three or more organs and in those with intracranial injuries (p=0.001 and p=0.001, respectively). Conclusion: Mortality is higher in patients who fall from height than in those who are involved in traffic accidents. Parameters directly associated with mortality include craniocerebral, multiorgan, and low GCS scores
The Added Effect of Music-Assisted Kangaroo Care Applied to Mothers with Premature Babies in the Intensive Care Unit on the Amount of Breast Milk, the Initiation Time of Breastfeeding, and Anxiety Level
Background: The aim of this study is to determine the effect of music-assisted kangaroo care, applied to mothers with premature babies in the intensive care unit on the amount of breast milk, the initiation time of breastfeeding, and the level of anxiety. Methods: The study was carried out with mothers whose premature babies were hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit. The sample size of the study was 99 mothers. Results: 85.5% of the mothers were aged >35 years, 30.1% were high school graduates, 38.6% had equal income and expenses and 77.1% had a cesarean section. The state and trait anxiety levels of the mothers in the music assisted kangaroo care (MAKC), kangaroo care (KC), and control (C) groups decreased after the first day according to the follow-up times. The trait anxiety levels of the mothers in the MAKC group experienced on the first and sixth days were lower than those of the mothers in the KC and C groups, with the statistically significant differences (p < 0.05). It was found that the mothers in the MAKC group started breastfeeding earlier than those in the KC and C groups, and the difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05). Conclusion: A significant difference was found between the MAKC and KC groups and the control group in terms of an increase in the amount of milk, a decrease in trait anxiety levels, and early initiation of breastfeeding (p < 0.05)
Alterations in expression of phosphatase and tensin homologous (PTEN) gene analyzed in the bronchial lavage samples of non-small cell lung cancer patients
Aim: In this study, we aimed to analyze the expression of the Phosphatase and Tensin Homologous gene (PTEN) by interphase-fluorescence in situ-hybridization (iFISH), and localization and immunoreactivity of PTEN by immunocytochemistry method in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).Material and Methods: BAL samples collected from 30 patients diagnosed with NSCLC and from 10 control subjects without any malignancy were included. iFISH was performed with a 10q23.3 PTEN DNA dual color FISH probe, analyzing multiple cells. Immunocytochemistry was based on the Streptavidin-Biotin-Peroxidase method and PTEN levels were semi-quantitatively scored.Results: The percentage of cells with 2G/2R was 86.8% which was significantly lower than that of the control group (p<0.0001). Loss of the PTEN gene was 6.43% among all patients. The percentage of cells with monoallelic deletion (p=0.0246) and atypical signal (p=0.0001) and the percentage of monosomic cells (p=0.0001) were significantly higher in patients compared to controls. PTEN immunopositivity was significantly increased in patients compared to controls (p<0.0001).Discussion: Increased abnormal signals and mutational cells in BAL samples of NSCLC patients suggest that the investigation of the PTEN gene in BAL by using iFISH may guide clinicians in differential diagnosis and therapeutic management of NSCLC. Being faster, easier and cost-effective in routine testing, the immunocytochemistry method can also be combined as a diagnostic tool with molecular methods

CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF SERUM SYNAPTOPHYSIN-LIKE 1 PROTEIN LEVELS IN BREAST CANCER
Background: Mammography, used for breast cancer (BC) screening, has limitations such as decreased sensitivity in dense breasts. Currently used tumor markers are insufficient in diagnosing breast cancer. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between serum levels of synaptophysin-like protein 1 (SYPL1) and BC and compare SYPL1 with other blood tumor markers. Methods: The study group consisted of 80 female patients with a histopathological diagnosis of invasive BC who received no radiotherapy/chemotherapy. The control group was 72 women with no previous history of breast disease and evaluated as Breast Imaging Reporting and Data Systems (BI -RADS 1-2) on imaging. Serum SYPL1, cancer antigen 15-3 (CA 15-3), and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) were measured in both groups. Results: The diagnostic values of SYPL1, CEA, and CA153 proteins in diagnosing BC were statistically significant. The sensitivity of SYPL1 was 48.75%, with a specificity of 80.56%. CA15-3 had a sensitivity of 80% and a specificity of 49.30%. There was no statistically significant correlation between serum SYPL1 and tumor diameter, lymph node metastasis, distant organ metastasis, and stage. Conclusion: The serum SYPL1 maintained a higher discriminatory ability for BC. The serum SYPL1 level can be used with high specificity in diagnosing BC. However, SYPL1 has a low diagnostic value in BC by itself
Untreated Vestibular Schwannoma: Analysis of the Determinants of Growth
The growth rate of sporadic VS varies considerably, posing challenges for consistent clinical management. This systematic review examines data on factors associated with VS growth, following a protocol registered in the PROSPERO database. The analysis reveals that key predictors of tumor growth include tumor location, initial size, and specific clinical symptoms such as hearing loss and imbalance. Additionally, several studies suggest that growth observed within the first year may serve as an indicator of subsequent progression, enabling the earlier identification of high-risk cases. Emerging factors such as the posture swing test and MRI signal intensity have also been identified as novel predictors that could further refine growth assessments. Our meta-analysis confirms that tumor location, initial size, cystic components, and vestibular symptoms are closely linked to the likelihood of VS growth. This review provides valuable guidance for clinicians in identifying patients who may require closer monitoring or early intervention. By integrating these predictive factors into clinical practice, this review supports more personalized treatment and contributes to the development of more accurate prognostic models for managing untreated sporadic VS
Tissue nano-transfection of antimicrobial genes drives bacterial biofilm killing in wounds and is potentially mediated by extracellular vesicles
The emergence of bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics is on track to become a major global health crisis. Therefore, there is an urgent need for new treatment options. Here, we studied the implementation of tissuenanotransfection (TNT) to treat Staphylococcus aureus-infected wounds by delivering gene cargos that boost the levels of naturally produced antimicrobial peptides. The Cathelicidin Antimicrobial Peptide gene (CAMP), which produces the antimicrobial peptide LL-37, was used as model gene cargo. In vitro evaluation showed successful transfection and an increase in the transcription and translation of CAMP-coding plasmid in mouse primary epithelial cells. Moreover, we found that the extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from the transfected cells (in vitro and in vivo) carried significantly higher concentrations of CAMP transcripts and LL-37 peptide compared to control EVs, possibly mediating the trafficking of the antimicrobial contents to other neighboring cells. The TNT platform was then used in vivo on an excisional wound model in mice to nanotransfect the CAMPcoding plasmid on the edge of infected wounds. After 4 days of daily treatment, we observed a significant decrease in the bacterial load in the CAMP-treated group compared to the sham group. Moreover, histological analysis and bacterial load quantification also revealed that TNT of CAMP on S. aureus-infected wounds was effective in treating biofilm progression by reducing the bacterial load. Lastly, we observed a significant increase in macrophage recruitment to the infected tissue, a robust increase in vascularization, as well as and an increased expression of IL10 and Fli1. Our results demonstrate that TNT-based delivery of gene cargos coding for antimicrobial compounds to the wound is a promising approach for combating biofilm infections in wounds

İnsanlık tarihi, pek çok felaketin yanı sıra mikroorganizmaların sebep olduğu “salgın’’lar (epidemi/pandemi) ile doludur. Açlık, kıtlık, yoksulluk, iç savaş
ve bunlara bağlı göçler, epideminin dünyaya yayılmasına, yani “pandemi”ye sebep olur. Bunlardan kolera 19. yüzyıla kadar, Hindistan’da yaygın mahallî bir
hastalık iken, işgalci İngiliz askerleri tarafından Afganistan’a ve deniz yoluyla Asya, İran, Hicaz ve Çin’e kadar taşınmıştır. Osmanlı Devleti de, aldığı tüm önlemlere rağmen hacıların taşıdığı koleranın Anadolu topraklarına girmesine engel olamamış, hastalık tüm Anadolu’ya yayılmıştır. Dünyanın temiz içme suyuna
ulaşılamayan çeşitli yerlerinde hâlâ kolera salgınlarına rastlanmaktadır.
Kolera pandemisinde Osmanlı, bir yandan karantina, kordon, dezenfeksiyon, ortam temizliği, aşılama ile salgınla, diğer yandan bu önlemlere karşı çıkanların
cehaleti ile de mücadele etmiştir.
Bütün bir insanlık, 2019 yılı Aralık ayından 2023 Mayıs ayına kadar dünyamız, etkeni SARS-Cov2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrom-Coronavirus 2) olarak
belirlenen COVID-19 pandemisi ile mücadele etmiştir.
Günümüzde de benzer mücadele yöntemleri kullanılmaktadır. Karantina, kordon ve dezenfeksiyonun bugünkü karşılığı olan “maske-mesafe-temizlik” üçlüsü
genel bir kabul görmüştür. Ancak, aşı konusunda tereddüt ve itirazlar yaşanmış; pandeminin sonlarına doğru hastalık kadar, aşının yan etkileri konuşulup
tartışılmaya başlanmış, aşı karşıtları, en basit korunma kurallarına bile uyulmayan mitingler yapmışlardır. Bu yaklaşım, toplum sağlığını doğrudan tehlikeye
atmıştır.

and related migrations cause the epidemic to spread around the world, that is, a “pandemic”. While cholera was a common local disease in India until the
19th century, it was carried to Afghanistan by the occupying British troops and to Asia, Iran, Hejaz and China by sea. Despite all the precautions taken, the
Ottoman Empire could not prevent the cholera (which is carried by the pilgrims who entered Anatolian lands), and the disease spread throughout Anatolia.
Cholera epidemics still occur in various parts of the world where clean drinking water is not available.
During the cholera pandemic, the Ottoman Empire struggled with the epidemic by using quarantine, cordon, disinfection, environmental cleaning, and vaccination methods, on the one hand, and with the ignorance of those who opposed these measures, on the other hand.
All humanity, our world, from December 2019 to May 2023, struggled with the COVID-19 pandemic, the causative agent of which was determined as SARSCov2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus 2).
Similar fighting methods are still in use today. The “mask-distance-cleaning” trio, which is the current equivalent of quarantine, cordon and disinfection,
has been generally accepted. However, there were hesitations and objections about the vaccine; Towards the end of the pandemic, the side effects of the
vaccine as well as the disease began to be discussed, and opponents of vaccination held rallies where even the simplest protection rules were not followed.
This approach directly endangered public health.
The aim of this study is to compare today’s measures with the measures taken in the 1800s, when there were no strong measures such as vaccines, and to
draw attention to the global crises that threaten our World with the pandemic and the measures that should be taken against them
