Tuberculosis and the public health nurse
No full textThe decline in the death rate from tuberculosis is a matter of gratification to all health workers. There is a renewed effort under way now for the complete eradication of this disease. What part of the public health nurse will play in this campaign will be largely up to her to determine. With adequate knowledge of the disease, skill in nursing and teaching methods, and a willingness to analyze, evaluate, and improve nursing performances, there is a little doubt that the public health nurse can increase her usefulness to the tuberculosis program.

Take a walk on the wild side: characterizing 17D immunity using wild-type yellow fever viruses and vaccinees with diverse orthoflavivirus infection history
No full textThis work explores immunity induced by the yellow fever vaccine, 17D, efficacy. First, we provide a comprehensive review of breakthrough yellow fever infection. Next, we use a unique panel of antigenically diverse wild-type YFVs and a cohort of non-endemic vaccinees with diverse orthoflavivirus immune profiles >11 years post-vaccination to reveal new insights into the potency of breadth of YFV vaccine (17D)-mediated neutralizing antibodies. The findings described here have implications for future vaccine strategies against a disease of public health concern
New phenotypes for ADHD heterogeneity: traits and change in adolescence
No full textThis study aimed to refine the ADHD phenotype by examining impulsivity and emotional dysregulation through behavioral and trait-based measures in 844 children, using both cross-sectional and longitudinal analysis. The results identified two key factors—Undercontrol (including hyperactivity, impulsivity, and low behavioral regulation) and Emotional Dysregulation (including negative emotionality, irritability, and low ego-resiliency)—that were strongly linked to ADHD and other psychiatric conditions. Longitudinally, the Undercontrol factor predicted worsening ADHD symptoms, the onset of new disruptive disorders, and suicidal thoughts, while Emotional Dysregulation was associated with lower likelihood of marijuana use. The study supports a dimensional approach to ADHD that could improve clinical assessment and outcomes
