The role of early mobility in delirium prevention in the ICU: an evaluation of practice
Critically ill patients face increased risks of long-term complications such as ICU-acquired weakness, delirium, and prolonged hospital stays. Early mobility has been shown to mitigate these risks, yet adherence to mobility protocols remains inconsistent. This project aimed to evaluate adherence to existing early mobility protocols in a medical intensive care unit, identify gaps in implementation, and assess the relationship between early mobility and patient outcomes, including incidence of delirium, ICU length of stay, hospital LOS, and ventilator days
Creating a Holistic Path to Wellness at Lane Community College
As student needs grow more complex and institutional resources become increasingly constrained, community colleges face unique challenges in delivering sustainable, equitable health services. The call was to evaluate the current system and propose an integrated, student-centered approach to care that aligns with LCC’s mission of “providing quality, comprehensive, accessible, and inclusive educational opportunities that foster equitable student success” and acknowledges fiscal realities
A comparative analysis of skin sparing optimization in head and neck cancer treatments
The study compares the skin-sparing optimization techniques used in Eclipse and RayStation TPS to inform guidelines and treatment protocols for VMAT head and neck cancer radiation therapy
Increasing joy in work in the OHSU Wound Clinic through meaningful connections
This project examines joy amongst multidisciplinary teammates in an outpatient wound care setting, applying the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI) Joy in Work Framework to strengthen workplace connection and engagement. Through qualitative research, surveys and interviews identified systemic barriers, inefficiencies, documentation burdens, and fragmented communication—that limit sustained team cohesion. Findings highlight the importance of structured interventions such as daily huddles, optimized scheduling, and engagement-driven initiatives to foster resilience and mitigate burnout risks. By addressing these challenges, the study aims to enhance clinician well-being, improve workforce sustainability, and support long-term healthcare system efficiency. Future phases will evaluate intervention impact and explore scalable solutions for sustaining joy in work
Longitudinal analysis of functional effort correction to assess lung damage after radiation therapy
This work examines the measured lung damages using different effort correction techniques. Functional effort correction method is examined with different parameters and marked over 3, 6, and 12 months post radiation therapy
