Midwifery management of patients presenting to triage in spontaneous latent labor: a quality improvement project
Hospital admission of low-risk, term pregnant patients in spontaneous latent labor can increase risks of medical interventions and operative delivery. Providing evidence-based options, labor support, and comfort measures can potentially reduce admission of patients in the latent phase of labor. This quality improvement project aimed to improve the triage process of low-risk midwifery patients who presented to the hospital in spontaneous latent labor through the implementation of a latent labor resource. Following the implementation of this resource, midwifery perception of the resource and patient outcome data was assessed

Stromal remodeling in the postpartum liver drives breast cancer liver metastasis
This dissertation investigates the role of weaning-induced liver tissue remodeling, known as involution, on stromal cells in the liver. We transcriptionally investigate changes in the liver over the course of a lactation-wean cycle and identify alterations to myeloid cell immune composition. In addition, we investigate the role of hepatic stellate cells, the native liver fibroblasts, and how these cells contribute to postpartum breast cancer liver metastasis
Implementing mental health passports to enhance communication: a quality-improvement initiative in psychiatric care.
The clinical problem addressed by this project is the need for enhanced communication between healthcare providers and patients within an inpatient psychiatric setting. Miscommunication and insufficient information sharing can impact the quality of care and the overall efficiency of healthcare delivery, leading to errors in patient care, decreased patient satisfaction, and potentially longer hospital stays. The proposed intervention, the implementation of a Mental Health Passport (MHP), is expected to improve communication by providing a standardized document that captures critical patient information accessible throughout the patient's stay
