Characterization of prekallikrein antibodies and proteomic identification of FXIa substrates on endothelial cells

    No full text
My research investigates how components of the contact activation system regulate endothelial function. First, I characterized the molecular mechanism of prekallikrein (PK) activation on endothelial cells, identifying the critical roles of the A1–A3 apple domains and validating domain-specific monoclonal antibodies as mechanistic tools and therapeutic candidates. Second, I used label-free quantitative proteomics to reveal how coagulation factor XIa (FXIa) reprograms the endothelial proteome and secretome, suppressing barrier integrity and angiogenesis while promoting immune activation and extracellular matrix remodeling. Together, these studies highlight novel mechanisms linking coagulation factors to vascular inflammation and identify potential therapeutic targets for thromboinflammatory diseas

A reassessment of orthodontic residents’ demographics, educational experiences, and future plans

    No full text
The purpose of this study was to conduct a follow-up survey to assess orthodontic residents’ demographics, educational experiences, and future plans. The survey was based on one conducted by Stoker et al in 2018 but modified to incorporate questions about the importance of diversity and inclusion to decisions about residency programs, future work environments, and the effects the COVID-19 pandemic had on orthodontic residents

Screening for substance use in pregnancy: using the 5Ps to reduce harm and increase equity

    No full text
This Doctor of Nursing Practice quality improvement project implemented universal substance use disorder screening for prenatal patients in a collaborative obstetric clinic using an adapted Integrated 5Ps Screening Tool over two Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles. The intervention successfully screened 86.2% of eligible patients, identified substance use risk factors in 38.5% of patients, and significantly improved documentation while increasing provider confidence in screening practices. Results demonstrated that universal substance use screening with the 5Ps tool is feasible and effective when implemented with workflow changes emphasizing patient privacy and stakeholder needs

Addressing human papillomavirus uptake among university students: a quality improvement initiative

    No full text
This quality improvement project focused on addressing HPV vaccination uptake among college aged individuals at a large Oregon public university through initiatives done through their student health center. Provider communication techniques were targeted by providing an educational in-service with evaluation before and after implementation of the education addressing knowledge and comfort levels surrounding the discussion of HPV and it's subsequent vaccination, as well as sexual health related topics
