    Design And Build A Paid Clothes Dryer Using Coin Acceptor Based On The Internet Of Things (IOT)

    Washing and drying clothes are basic needs in everyday life. However, in unpredictable weather conditions, such as the rainy season or areas with low sunlight intensity, the clothes drying process often experiences obstacles. Clothes drying facilities such as dryers are still relatively expensive and have not reached all levels of society, especially students, contract workers, or urban communities who live in rented houses or boarding houses. This problem prompted the design of an automatic clothes drying cabinet based on the Internet of Things (IoT) that can be operated with a payment system using a coin acceptor. This tool uses an ESP32 microcontroller as a control center, a temperature sensor to monitor conditions in the cabinet, and a Blynk application to display information on the number of coins entered. Testing of the system showed that the system performance was quite good and effective in carrying out its functions. The system was able to work stably during testing, such as the coin acceptor was able to recognize and verify coins accurately, the DHT22 sensor was quite good at detecting temperature and humidity in the drying cabinet and the drying process could be carried out according to the desired settings. This shows reliability during testing, which is also reinforced by the results of the calculation of the percentage deviation between the DHT22 sensor and the digital thermometer.61 PagesKertas Karya Diplom

    The Effectiveness of Anti-Dandruff Shampoo Containing Ethanol Extract of Ciplukan Leaves (Physalis angulata L.) Against the Growth of Pityrosporum ovale

    Pityrosporum ovale is a fungal microorganism commonly found on the scalp and is believed to contribute to the formation of dandruff in certain individuals. To overcome the growth of this fungus, ciplukan leaf extract (Physalis angulata L.) has been recognized to have potential as a natural antifungal agent. The active compounds contained in ciplukan leaves show the ability to inhibit fungal growth due to the presence of secondary metabolite compounds that are active, such as alkaloids, flavonoids, and saponins. This writing is intended to provide an overview and explanation regarding the effectiveness of ethanol extract of ciplukan leaves in shampoo formulations to inhibit Pityrosporum ovale and to determine the best formulation from the comparison of ethanol extract concentrations of ciplukan leaves at 100 ppm, 1000 ppm, and 10,000 ppm, with shampoo characterization including pH test, viscosity test, hedonic test, foam stability test, and irritation test. The process of extracting active compounds from ciplukan leaves was carried out using the maceration technique with 96% ethanol as the solvent. Antifungal testing was performed using the well diffusion method on PDA media and irritation testing using the Draize method. The results of this study showed that the shampoo preparation was semi-solid, green in color, had a peppermint aroma, a pH of 5.53–5.78, viscosity of 1850–2232 cPs, the best fungal inhibitory concentration at 10,000 ppm with an inhibition zone of 14.8 mm categorized as strong, and caused mild skin irritation.71 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

    Smart Door Design Based On Internet Of Things With Esp8266 Microcontroller With Radio Frequency Identification

    This research discusses the design of an automatic door security system that is operated using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology and can be accessed via an Android application. This system is designed to replace traditional door locks by utilizing the ESP8266 microcontroller as the main controller, which processes data from RFID sensors. If a registered RFID card is attached, the microcontroller will activate the relay to open the door solenoid for five seconds, after which the door will be locked again automatically. Apart from that, this system is also equipped with notifications via the Blynk application if an unregistered card tries to enter. Tests show that this tool can function as an automatic door security system, can be controlled remotely, and provides efficient access. This research aims to analyze the work process of the RFID system in reading cards as well as designing and building an automatic security control system using RFID with the ESP8266 microcontroller, as well as knowing the characteristics of the sensor regarding sensitivity and response time. Test results show that RFID can detect cards within a distance of 0–7 cm with a response time of 1.70–2.58 seconds. Above 7 cm, the card is not readable. The voltage on the relay in the active condition is 46.08 mV, and 5.008 V when it is inactive.     The Influence of Talent Management on Employee Engagement among Generation Z Employees in Startup Companies

    This study aims to determine the influence of talent management on employee engagement among Generation Z employees in startup companies. The research employs a quantitative method with data collected using convenience sampling. The sample consists of 357 participants. Data collection was conducted using a Likert scale, comprising an employee engagement scale and a talent management scale. The data analysis method used in this study is simple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that the coefficient of determination is 0.433, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This suggests that talent management has a 43.3% influence on employee engagement among Generation Z employees in startup companies. Therefore, it can be concluded that the better the implementation of talent management, the higher the level of employee engagement.106 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

    Construction project development is a key indicator of a nation's progress, and large-scale construction projects necessitate precise quality planning and control. This research analyzes the implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS) based on ISO 9001:2015 in a construction project, specifically the Medan-Binjai Railway Line Development Project. The study aims to identify the level of ISO 9001:2015 QMS implementation in the project and to analyze the factors supporting and hindering its execution. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation studies of existing processes and procedures on-site. The findings indicate that the project has implemented most ISO 9001:2015 clauses, particularly in the aspects of planning, execution, and quality monitoring. However, certain areas still require improvement, such as more comprehensive documentation and enhanced quality awareness across all organizational levels. The implementation of ISO 9001:2015 QMS positively contributes to increased operational efficiency, reduced defect risks, and improved customer satisfaction, although challenges like a lack of commitment from some parties and bureaucratic hurdles still need to be addressed. This research recommends continuous training, strengthening internal audit systems, and improving communication to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of QMS in future construction projects.     Ethnomedicine Study of Plants Efficacious as Antidiabetic and Anticancer in Kabanjahe Sub District Karo District

    Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus and cancer are major global health issues with high incidence rates, including in Indonesia. In Kabanjahe District, Karo Regency, still has abundant natural resources and has traditionally used various plants as traditional medicine. Objectives: To inventory the names, therapeutic uses, plant parts utilized, preparation methods, dosage guidelines, and associated conditions or restrictions of medicinal plants traditionally used for antidiabetic and anticancer purposes, and to evaluate the potential profiles of these species in Kabanjahe District, Karo Regency. Methods: This study used a qualitative descriptive research method and was conducted from October to December 2024. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, with informants selected using purposive and snowball sampling techniques. Data analysis using descriptive qualitative methods using tables and brief explanations. The assessment of the usefulness of medicinal plants was processed using three parameters, namely Use Value Index (UVI), Relative Frequency of Citation (RFC), and Informant Consensus Factor (ICS). Result: A total of 107 medicinal plant species from 47 families were identified in the use of traditional herbal medicine by the community in Kabanjahe District, Karo Regency. The most frequently used plant families for antidiabetic purposes were Zingiberaceae, Lamiaceae, and Asteraceae, while Zingiberaceae was the most commonly used family for anticancer purposes. Leaves, stems, and rhizomes were the most commonly utilized parts. The most common ways of processing plants are boiled, mashed, and squeezed. The most common rule of use is drinking. The Use Value Index (UVI) ranged from 1 to 2.5. The Relative Frequency of Citation (RFC) ranged from 0.009 to 0.057 for antidiabetic plants and from 0.009 to 0.048 for anticancer plants. The Informant Consensus Factor (ICF) ranged from 6 to 20 for antidiabetic use and from 6 to 32 for anticancer use. Conclusion: The use of medicinal plants with antidiabetic and anticancer properties in Kabanjahe District, Karo Regency, involved 107 species from 47 plant families, with Zingiberaceae, Lamiaceae, Asteraceae, and Rutaceae being the most represented.     The objective of this research is to analyze the internal and external factors of the fertilizer, pesticide, and herbicide distribution business at PT Fajar Mandiri Sukses, and to examine the business development strategy for the company. The analytical methods used are SWOT analysis and the IFAS and EFAS matrices. The results of this study indicate that the business development of PT Fajar Mandiri Sukses lies in Quadrant I, which means the company is in a very favorable position. This position indicates that the development of the fertilizer, pesticide, and herbicide distribution business has both opportunities and strengths.     Traditional architecture is an essential part of cultural heritage that reflects the lifestyle, values, and social structure of a community. One of the distinctive forms of traditional architecture in Indonesia is Malay architecture. This research aims to explore the unique characteristics of the Puri Melayu Sri Menanti Traditional House and examine the functions and roles embodied within those features. A descriptive-qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature study to obtain contextual field data.The study found that the Puri Melayu Sri Menanti House holds several unique elements: it is the only traditional house in Tebing Tinggi City, built as a two-story stilt structure. The upper floor consists of bedrooms, a prayer room, a guest room, an office for the house manager, a central living area, a kitchen, and a Malay wedding stage. The lower floor serves as a space for weaving traditional songket fabric, with weaving tools and finished products displayed in small glass cabinets. The courtyard features paintings of Malay customs, such as traditional wedding attire, and a pavilion for relaxation.Three categories of ornamental symbols were identified: plant-based (fern leaves and young bean shoots), animal-based (Lebah Bergantung Kuntum Setaman), and geometric (violin lattice, grille, wheel, and perforated patterns).     This study aims to examine and analyze the influence of hedonic shopping motivation and flash sales on impulse buying, with emotional response as a moderating variable in e-commerce services. This research is an associative study using a quantitative approach. The population in this study consists of e-commerce service customers in Medan City, with an unknown total number. The sample comprises 235 customers from Shopee, Tokopedia, Lazada, Blibli, and Bukalapak. The sampling technique employed is purposive sampling with the criteria that respondents have been subscribed to one of these e-commerce services for at least one year. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results indicate that hedonic shopping motivation, flash sales, and emotional response have a positive and significant effect on impulse buying in e-commerce services. However, emotional response does not moderate the relationship between hedonic shopping motivation and flash sales on customers’ impulse buying behavior in e-commerce platforms.240 PagesTesis Magiste

    The purpose of this study was to examine how cultural and religious values influence visitor preferences in the design of gender-segregated hot spring facilities in Lau Debuk-Debuk, a well-known geothermal tourism area located in Karo Regency, North Sumatra. Despite its popularity among local and international tourists, current hot spring facilities in the region have yet to fully accommodate the cultural norms and religious practices of its diverse visitors, particularly concerning gender separation in bathing areas. This gap raises the need for a deeper understanding of how cultural expectations and religious obligations shape spatial preferences. The results indicate that both cultural values and religious beliefs significantly affect visitor expectations, particularly regarding the need for gender-segregated spaces. These findings highlight the importance of culturally responsive and Sharia-compliant design strategies in hot spring resort development. Integrating such considerations not only enhances visitor comfort and satisfaction but also supports the broader goal of inclusive and respectful tourism infrastructure that aligns with the values of its target users.170 PagesSkripsi Sarjan
