Prebiotic Potential of Maltooligosaccharides from Orange Sweet Potato Beta 1 Variety
This study was aimed to evaluate the in vitro prebiotic potential and analyze the growth trends of lactic acid bacteria from orange sweet potato maltooligosaccharides. This research used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method, consisting of different concentrations of orange sweet potato maltooligosaccharides (0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0%, and 2.5%) added to MRSB medium and inoculated with lactic acid bacteria. The tested bacteria were Lactobacillus casei and Bifidobacterium bifidum. The growth was monitored based on total lactic acid bacteria and Optical Density (OD) at 0, 12, 24, 30, and 36 hours of incubation.
The results showed that the concentration of orange sweet potato maltooligosaccharides had a highly significant effect (P0.05). The growth of lactic acid bacteria increased until 24 hours of incubation, followed by a decline, reaching the lowest point thereafter. Overall, Bifidobacterium bifidum exhibited faster and more abundant growth compared to Lactobacillus casei during the incubation period.117 PagesSkripsi Sarjan
Cardioprotective Effects of Etanol Extract of Attarasa Leaves (Litsea cubeba (Lours.) Pers.) in Isoproterenol-Induced Rats
Background: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally, with myocardial infarction as its major complication. Myocardial infarction occurs due to heart muscle damage triggered by ischemia and oxidative stress caused by isoproterenol. The attarasa plant (Litsea cubeba) is rich in bioactive compounds with antioxidant potential, offering cardioprotective effects against oxidative stress.
Objective: This study aimed to determine the effects of ethanol extract of attarasa leaves (EEDA) on blood pressure, total protein levels, and malondialdehyde levels in isoproterenol induced male rats.
Methods: Fifteen male Wistar rats were divided into three groups: normal, isoproterenol-induced, and EEDA 200 mg/kgBW. Treatment lasted 15 days, with blood pressure measured on day 0, 16, and 18. On day 18, rats were anesthetized using ketamine-xylazine/tiletamine (2 mL/kgBW), and heart tissues were analyzed for total protein (lowry method) and malondialdehyde levels (thiobarbituric acid reactive substances method).
Results: The blood pressure of the whole group was within the normal range, but EEDA did not show any blood pressure lowering effect on isoproterenol-induced rats. In total protein levels, there was a significant difference between the isoproterenol group and the EEDA 200 mg/kgBW group. It was found that the levels of malondialdehyde dropped significantly between the isoproterenol group and the EEDA 200 mg/kgBW group.125 PagesSkripsi Sarjan
Analysis of Bearing Capacity and Lateral Deflection of 0,6 M Diameter Hydraulic Jacked-in Pile with Lateral Static Loading Test and Finite Element Method on Tower-1 Inpatient Building Project of RS Haji Medan
The lateral bearing capacity of the pile becomes very important when the structure receives lateral loads, for that high-rise structures, long-span bridges, and seaside structures, which are very common in North Sumatra, certainly require pile foundations that can receive lateral loads. This study aims to analyze the lateral bearing capacity of hydraulic jacked-in piles with empirical analysis using the Broms method and based on the interpretation of the results of lateral static load tests using the Chin method, Davisson method and Mazurkiewicz method. In this study, a numerical analysis of the lateral deflection of the pile was also carried out using the p-y method with the LPile program and using the finite element method with the PLAXIS 3D program to see the level of conformity with the deflection results of the lateral loading test in the field. Based on the analysis that has been done, the lateral bearing capacity of the hydraulic jacked-in pile using the Broms method is 16.20 tons, for the Chin method it is 18.76 tons, the Davisson method is 13.22 mm and the Mazurkiewich method is 16.50 tons. The amount of lateral deflection from the results of the lateral loading test in the field for a load of 200% is 11.82 mm. Meanwhile, the deflection result with LPile program is 14.54 mm and the deflection result with PLAXIS 3D software for Mohr-Coulomb model is 12.18 mm and for HS Small model is 11.86 mm. It turns out that HS Small model is the one that gives the closest result to lateral loading test result in the field.158 PagesTesis Magiste
Analysis of Calistung Learning Program on Children's Literacy Needs at Rumah Literasi Ranggi Kec. Percut Sei Tuan Deli Serdang
Children living in economically disadvantaged conditions often face significant challenges in mastering basic literacy and numeracy skills (reading, writing, and arithmetic—commonly referred to as “Calistung” in Indonesia). One of the main contributing factors to this issue is limited access to quality education. Schools in underprivileged areas typically lack adequate educational facilities, qualified teachers, and sufficient learning materials. This research was conducted at Rumah Literasi Ranggi, located at Jalan PWI Blok A No. 59, Sampali Village, Percut Sei Tuan Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency. The primary informants in this study were two children participating in the Calistung learning program at Rumah Literasi Ranggi. Additional informants included the parents of these children, while key informants consisted of the founder of Rumah Literasi Ranggi and one teaching staff member. Data collection was carried out through both literature review and field studies, which involved direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data obtained were then analyzed qualitatively by the researcher to gain a comprehensive understanding before drawing conclusions from the findings. The results of the study indicate that the Calistung learning program implemented at Rumah Literasi Ranggi has had a positive impact on improving children’s basic skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic. These three competencies serve as an essential foundation for a child’s overall learning process. The positive outcomes of the program can be assessed using literacy indicators from the National Institute for Literacy, which include the ability to read, write, speak, calculate, and solve everyday problems. This program has brought about meaningful change for children from economically disadvantaged families who participate in the learning activities at Rumah Literasi Ranggi.138 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

Relationship Between Self Efficacy and Family Support With the Quality of Life of Diabetes Mellitus Patients in Medan City in 2025
The prevalence of diabetes mellitus in Indonesia increased from 10.9% in 2018 to 11.7% in 2023. Controlling this disease to prevent complications can be achieved by enhancing self-efficacy and family support, both of which play a crucial role in the quality of life of diabetes patients. This study aims to analyze the infuence of self-efficacy and family support on the quality af life of diabetes mellitus patients. A cross-sectional research design was employed, involving 263 diabetes mellitus patients in Medan City, selected using accidental sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire. Bivariate data analysis was conducted using the chi-square test, while multivariate analysis was performed using muitiple logistic regression. The results indicate that self-efficacy (p-value <0.001) and family support (p-value <0.001) significantly influence the quality of life of diabetes mellitus patients. The most dominant factor afecting the quality of life of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients was family support, with an Exp(B) value of 30.018. This means that patients with poor family support have a 30 times higher risk of experiencing a lower quality of life compared those with good family support. In conclusion, patients with low self-efficacy and inadequate family support have a 97.6% likelihood of experiencing a poor quality of life. It is recommended that families provide support to diabetes patients managing their condition, while patients should maintain self-efficacy to ensure a better quality of life119 PagesTesis Magiste
