The Authority of the Indonesian Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) with the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore in the Case of the Acquisition of Uber by Grab

    No full text
In economic activities, it is inseparable from the occurrence of competition between business actors. Competition in the business world is an activity recommended by law as a spice in the practice of business activities. In Indonesia, the institution that handles business competition is the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU). KPPU oversees all types of business activities, including acquisitions. Regarding the enforcement of business competition policies, it is not only applied by Indonesia, but other countries also apply it. One of them is Singapore. The commission that oversees business activities in Singapore is the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS). The CCCS also oversees the act of acquisition. This research aims to find out the differences in the authority of KPPU and CCCS in deciding business competition cases and the differences in decisions applied by the two Commissions, especially in the case of Uber's acquisition by Grab. The research method used is normative juridical method with statutory, case, and comparative approaches, and qualitative data analysis. The results showed that the differences in authority and legal policies between KPPU and CCCS affected the differences in handling and decisions on the Uber acquisition case by Grab. KPPU stated that there was no violation related to the Uber acquisition case by Grab while CCCS imposed a fine on both parties of IDR141 billion. This finding reveals the limitations of KPPU's regulation and authority in overseeing asset acquisitions that have the potential to reduce competition, in contrast to CCCS's broader and stricter authority in enforcing competition law. This research confirms the need to update regulations on asset acquisitions, so that the legal source that guides asset acquisitions is not only based on the Regulations of the Competition Supervisory Commission, but also based on a higher and stronger legal source, namely the Law.174 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

Fish diversity is an important indicator in assessing the health of aquatic ecosystems. The ecosystem reflects the balance between species and environmental conditions. Toba Lake is the largest volcanic lake in Southeast Asia, the lake holds significant potential for fisheries resources; however, its sustainability may be threatened by declining environmental quality, particularly related to physico-chemical water factors. This study was conducted in Pangururan District, Samosir Regency, North Sumatra. The aim was to determine fish diversity and to analyze its relation to physico-chemical water parameters. The method used was purposive sampling at three observation stations: the port area, market area and domestic discharge site. The results showed that the fish collected from Toba Lake consists of 5 orders, 5 families, 6 genera and 7 species. The species with the highest density is Amphilophus citrinellus found at stations 1, 2 and 3. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H’) ranged from 1.501 to 1.803, indicating a low level of species diversity. The evenness index (E) ranged from 0.838 to 0.926, indicating a high level of species evenness. Based on correlation analysis revealed that physico-chemical factors— particularly Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), nitrate and phosphate—had a very strong influence on fish diversity. Dissolved oxygen (DO) showed a strong influence, while temperature and pH had a moderate influence. Meanwhile, light penetration and light intensity had a weak influence on fish diversity.67 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

    No full text
This research explores classroom interactions focusing on translanguaging between teachers and students at SLB Negeri 1 Binjai, a special school in Indonesia. The main focus of this study is how teachers use Indonesian and English with students who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) during learning activities. Using Tse’s (1996) theory, the study identifies three parts of translanguaging: code- switching, translating/interpreting, and language brokering. This study uses a qualitative method through classroom observation, interviews with teachers, and documentation. The results show that the most common type of translanguaging used is intra-sentential code-switching, followed by inter- sentential code-switching, and a smaller number of tag-switching. Translating is also often used to help students understand English vocabulary. However, there is no language brokering done by students. Interviews with teachers show that translanguaging can be done by students with autism using simple language and simple materials to support English learning at this school.65 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

    No full text
Indonesian ginger exports to Bangladesh have experienced fluctuations influenced by various factors. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting the volume of Indonesian ginger exports to Bangladesh during the period 2019–2023. The factors analyzed include ginger production, ginger prices, the exchange rate of the Rupiah against the US Dollar, and consumption in the destination country. The data used in this research are secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics, Bank Indonesia, the World Bank, FAO, and other relevant sources. The analytical method employed is multiple linear regression to examine the influence of these factors on the volume of ginger exports. The results of the study show that ginger production, price, and consumption in the destination country have a significant influence on the export volume of Indonesian ginger to Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the exchange rate does not have a significant effect on export volume. These findings indicate that increased production, stable prices, and high consumption in the destination country can drive and enhance ginger exports to Bangladesh. Therefore, the government and agribusiness stakeholders need to adopt strategies to increase production and maintain price stability.65 PagesSkripsi Sarjan
