Non-Observence Maksim dalam Komentar Youtube Berita NBC

    No full text
This study investigates the non-observance of Grice’s conversational maxims in the comment sections of NBC News YouTube videos reporting on the Los Angeles wildfires. The analysis focuses on five selected videos, identifying 48 instances of non-observances. Using Creswell’s qualitative analytical framework, the comments were thematically analyzed to identify patterns in how users deviate from cooperative principles in digital communication. The findings reveal that flouting of the maxim of relevance is the most dominant, representing (50%) of all cases, as commenters often shift the topic to express indirect criticism, political discontent, or sarcasm. Flouting of quality and manner maxims appears in (17%) of the data, with users presenting exaggerated, ambiguous, or unsubstantiated remarks to convey distrust or emotional responses. The flouting of the maxim of quantity is the least common, comprising (6.25%), where comments include either excessive personal details or insufficient information. Regarding violations, (8.33%) of comments breach the maxim of quality through unsupported accusations or conspiracy theories, while (2.08%) violate the maxim of quantity by offering vague or overly broad statements. The analysis of implicature characteristics shows that calculability is the most prominent feature. In 43 instances, commenters rely on readers’ ability to infer hidden meanings from indirect or ironic remarks. Non-detachability appears in only one example, suggesting that the implicature depends more on content than wording. Indeterminacy is rare, with only two cases where the implied meaning remains open to multiple interpretations. No examples of cancellability or non-conventionality were identified, indicating that the implicatures tend to be deliberate, context-specific, and resistant to retraction. These findings highlight how users on social media platforms like YouTube employ non-observance of conversational maxims and pragmatic implicature strategies to express opinions, challenge official narratives, and engage critically with crisis-related content.122 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

    No full text
This research investigates the community empowerment practices in Kampung MATFA Indonesia, a unique spiritual and communal village located in Telaga Said Village, Sei Lepan Subdistrict, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. The empowerment model in this community is shaped by the compassionate teachings of Y.M. Tuan Guru and is institutionalized through the leadership of his successor, Tuwan Imam. The study applies a qualitative descriptive method, using data collection techniques such as participant observation, in-depth interviews with key informants, and documentation review. The findings show that Kampung MATFA adopts a holistic empowerment strategy that integrates spiritual, social, and economic dimensions through a compassion-centered framework. The leadership of Tuwan Imam is central to the community‟s daily life, guiding activities that range from religious education and decision-making collective worship to economic sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, livestock, small-scale industries, and the management of a communal bottled water company (HANICHA). Social institutions like the Baitul Maal, communal kitchens, and educational programs for children and adults further reinforce this system of empowerment. The community employs the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach by mobilizing internal resources, talents, and values within the community, rather than relying on external assistance. This approach is complemented by Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) techniques that emphasize inclusive through regular musyawarah (community deliberation), collective planning, and participatory evaluation. Moreover, the study also addresses external perceptions of the community—ranging from admiration for its unity and self-reliance to criticisms of authoritarianism or indoctrination—offering a nuanced analysis of local spiritual leadership in a modern context. The research concludes that Kampung MATFA demonstrates a model of alternative empowerment that blends spiritual devotion, strong leadership, cultural values, and cooperative economics. The institutionalization of compassion as a guiding principle has enabled the development of a self sustaining, harmonious society that may serve as a reference for culturally rooted community development elsewhere.113 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

Duck eggs are highly nutritious animal based food products but are prone to quality deterioration during storage. One natural preservation method is immersion using basil leaf solution, which has antibacterial properties. This study aimed to determine the effect of storage duration and basil leaf solution concentration on the internal quality of duck eggs and to identify the most effective treatment combination. The research was conducted at the Livestock Production Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, using a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors: basil solution concentration (0%, 15%, 30%, and 45%) and storage duration (0, 10, 20, and 30 days). Observed parameters included albumen index, yolk index, weight loss percentage, and pH value. The results showed a highly significant interaction (P<0.01) between the treatments on albumen index, yolk index, and pH. Immersion in 45% basil solution was effective in maintaining albumen and yolk indices as well as pH, while the 30% concentration was most effective in reducing weight loss. Day 10 was identified as the optimal storage period, during which all internal quality parameters remained stable. After this period, egg quality significantly declined.59 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

    No full text
This study examines decision-making in hair colouring among female students residing on Pembangunan Street, Padang Bulan Village, Medan Baru District. The research focuses on how female students perceive hair, the reasons for hair colouring, the dynamics of changing hair colour, and how their social relationships influence decisions regarding hair colouring. This study employs a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques include participant observation and in-depth interviews using an interview guide. Key informants are female students who dye their hair. Female students included in the informant category are those who dye their hair and reside in the Pembangunan street area. In this study, the author did not consider the age, academic year, or university of the informants. Data analysis was conducted throughout the research process until the writing stage (ongoing analysis). Field data was recorded in detail in fieldnotes to establish themes, construct frameworks, and classify them according to the emic view. The results of this study indicate several trends in hair colouring styles that are preferred by female students. Some variations in hair colouring techniques include full colour, highlights, and peek-a-boo techniques. When colouring their hair, female students always choose variations different from previous ones. This indicates a dynamic aspect in hair colouring. Female students assign meaning to their hair as a symbol of their authority, femininity, and self-identity. This study also shows that there is a connection between knowledge, experience, opportunity, and timing. Timing can influence decision-making by considering factors such as positive or negative experiences during previous hair colouring, opinions from peers, or trends on social media.138 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

Detection of Apical Periodontitis Lesions Based on the Periapical Index (PAI) Scale Using Panoramic Radiographic Images with the EfficientDet Method

    No full text
Diagnosing apical periodontitis lesions via panoramic radiography faces significant challenges, including suboptimal image quality, digital noise, blurred image boundaries, and overlapping anatomical structures. These conditions not only complicate the diagnostic process and increase the demand on dentists' time and effort, but also potentially lead to inconsistent assessments and an increased risk of misdiagnosis due to interpretations highly dependent on individual clinicians' skills and experience. To address these challenges, this study developed an artificial intelligence-based system using the EfficientDet method to detect apical periodontitis lesions based on the Periapical Index (PAI) scale. Lesion were classified into three categories: PAI 3, PAI 4, and PAI 5. Based on test results, the model utilizing the EfficientDet algorithm was able to detect apical periodontitis lesions in panoramic radiographic images with an accuracy rate of 89.95%. These results indicate that the model performs well in recognizing apical periodontitis lesions and determining their severity according to the Periapical Index Scale.72 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

    No full text
Basal stem rot disease in oil palm plantations caused by the pathogenic fungus Ganoderma boninense remains a serious problem and causes economic losses. Studies on the effect of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on controlling G. boninense have not been widely conducted. The commonly used methods for synthesizing silver nanoparticles are physical and chemical methods, but these methods have adverse effects on the environment and living organisms, so other safer and more effective methods are needed. This study aims to test the potential of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized with Trichoderma virens (Tv) in suppressing the growth of G. boninense in vitro. This study used a Complete Randomized Factorial Design with two treatment factors, namely: 1) application methods consisting of poisoning and dual culture, and 2) comparison of T. virens with AgNP with control treatment, D'Flava, a fungicide with the active ingredient Mancozeb, Tv 1:4 AgNP, Tv 1:5 AgNP, Tv 1:10 AgNP, Tv 1:20 AgNP. The results showed that the inhibition test of G. boninense using the poisoning method was more effective than the dual culture method, with the best treatment being Tv 1:10 AgNP, yielding an average growth of 30.87 mm at 14 days after inoculation (DAI). The application of AgNPs caused abnormal growth of G. boninense hyphae, namely coiled, curled, twisted, broken, and lysed hyphae.58 PagesSkripsi Sarjan
