THE HARPSICHORD AS AN AESTHETIC LEGACY OF BEETHOVENS EARLY PIANO SONATAS
This article highlights the significance of the harpsichord and fortepiano in Beethovens early sonatas (in particular Op. 2), composed during a period of transition between the two instruments. The fortepianos lighter mechanism and broader dynamic range enabled Beethoven to explore expressive contrasts and articulations not possible on the harpsichord. However, the harpsichords Baroque heritage remains evident in his harmonic language and ornamentation. Features such as trills, mordents, and clear vocal lines reference the harpsichord tradition, even as they are reinterpreted through the fortepianos capabilities. This duality gives the early sonatas a hybrid identity, bridging Baroque idioms and the emerging Classical style. These works serve as a link between two musical eras, with both instruments marking a language in transformation
THE CULTURAL LOGIC AND RELIGIOUS IMPLICATIONS OF SHAMAN MUSIC IN KOREA AND CHINA: A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF ETHNOMUSICOLOGY
As a universal music form in the world, shamanic music not only retains its religious (divine) nature in the historical construction but also shows different national characteristics with the embedding of specific cultural scene patterns. Citing the perspective of ethnomusicology, the source of religious consciousness of the current shamanic music object form is explained with “music in culture”, and the dynamic construction of shamanic religious elements is mapped with “culture in music”. Based on the geographical proximity and historical and cultural border exchanges between the two countries, its overall music form maintains the “holistic beauty” of religious attributes, takes “drum” as the core instrument, and the music rhythm and melody serve the expression of the lyric’s language signifier and signified symbol. Based on cultural similarities, the specific shamanic music forms of South Korea and China are different from the Western vertical harmony theory. Both pursue linear expression and form their own unique national modal melody characteristics. Korean shamanic music mainly uses rhythmic forms such as “mixed beats”, “changing beats” and “big beats composed of small beats”, while Chinese shamanic music maintains the early 2/4 single beat form that reflects the sounds of nature. As a subset of shamanic culture, shamanic music has derived differentiated expressions of religious ontology and musical object in the dynamic construction of the overall cultural logic of the two countries
Using Community Detection in Adolescent Media Multitasking Research. An Exploratory Study
In this exploratory study, we used the community detection approach to complex networks analysis to analyze temperamental and executive functioning profiles of media multitaskers in early adolescence. Media multitasking is particularly intense in adolescence (Smahel et al., 2020), with implications for short- and long-term functioning (van der Schuur et al., 2015, 2020). Temperament and executive functioning are central for self-regulation and adaptation during adolescence (Rothbart et al., 2011; Blakemore & Choudhury, 2006; Atherton et al., 2019) and are related to media multitasking (van der Schuur et al., 2015; Rogobete et al., 2021, 2024). Participants were a group of early adolescents (11 - 14.5 years old). Community detection yielded 3 distinct groups of individuals, characterized by various combinations of media multitasking frequency, temperamental traits and executive functioning problems. Relevant similarities and differences have been identified between these groups using further quantitative analyses. Results are discussed in terms of the dynamics between temperament, executive functioning and media multitasking behavior during adolescence – an important period for the development of self-regulation and the formation of media habits. Importantly, this exploratory study offers preliminary evidence supporting the usefulness of community detection in complex network analysis for investigating the dynamics of media multitasking behavior
Factors Supporting and Threatening the Adolescence of Transplanted Youth – Resilience, Well-Being, and Difficulty with Chronic Illness
Objective: The present research investigated the proportion of vulnerable and protective factors in terms of mental health in transplanted adolescents compared to the age-matched control group. Method: We collected data using a complex procedure; questionnaires, interviews and projective tests involving transplanted adolescents at the 1st Department of Pediatrics of Semmelweis University. In this work, we present the results of the analysis of the questionnaires. The sample included 59 transplanted and 116 control group members. Results: We found differences between the groups, with the transplanted adolescents being more likely to have depressive mood, more intense experience of anxiety states and stress, and well-being. Parents of transplanted adolescents were also more likely to have depressive mood and anxiety states. The members of the control group were characterized by self-efficacy, emotion-focused coping, and prosocial behavior. We found no differences between the groups in terms of resilience. Conclusions: The optimal development of transplanted youth is hampered by depression, anxiety and stress management problems, and their exposure to risk factors is significant. In the case of transplanted adolescents and their parents, negative emotional overload is typical, therefore we recommend integrative and psychotherapeutic assistance for them
THE PORTRAIT OF BISHOP IOAN PATACHI AND THE TYPOLOGY OF THE GREAT HIERARCHS OF THE ROMANIAN UNITED CHURCH – ASPECTS OF THE DISCOURSE OF IDENTITY, FROM THE CORYPHAEI OF THE TRANSYLVANIAN SCHOOL TO THE INTERWAR PERIOD
The Portrait of Bishop Ioan Patachi and the Typology of the Great Hierarchs of the Romanian Uniate Church – Aspects of the Discourse of Identity, from the Coryphaei of the Transylvanian School to the Interwar Period. The present study aims to recreate the image of the Uniate bishop Ioan Patachi as depicted in the official discourse of identity elaborated by the intellectual elite of the Romanian Greek-Catholic Church from the second half of the 18th century to the Inter-War period. A controversial figure in the Church history, with rather few information and documents available for the general public, bishop Patachi’s figure evolved over time, from a rather negative overall picture in the writings of Samuil Micu or Petru Maior, to a more positive one, built around his description as one of the Founders of the Uniate Church in Transylvania and a predecessor of bishop Inochentie Micu Klein, the symbol of the struggle for national, social and economic emancipation of the Romanians.

QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF HANDMADE SOAPS, PLANT-BASED OILS, AND SKINCARE CREAMS: PHYSICOCHEMICAL AND MICROBIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS
The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality and safety of handmade cosmetic and hygiene products through physicochemical and microbiological determinations, prior to their placement on the market. Three types of samples were analyzed, namely: solid soaps, creams, and cosmetic oils, using standardized methodologies compliant with current European and international regulations. The results demonstrated variations in pH, moisture levels, total alkali and Total Fatty Matter (TFM) content and viscosity, as well as quality indices in the case of oils, alongside the absence of pathogenic microorganisms, with detection occurring in only one sample. Additionally, Gas chromatograph coupled with mass spectrometer (GC-MS) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analyses were performed on representative samples. These findings emphasize the necessity of continuous monitoring and quality assessment of cosmetic products to ensure consumer safety

New Determinants of the Balance of Power: From Nuclear Power to the Power of New Technologies and The Crucial Debate on Autonomous Weapons Systems
This article explores the global debate on lethal autonomous weapons systems (LAWS), highlighting the “technological” arms race, that gradually seems to become a determining factor in establishing a new world order. It further examines the key positions of the USA, China and the Russian Federation on the issue of LAWS regulation and the probable reasons behind them. The paper also analyzes the turning point reached in discussions related to the establishment of a regulatory framework for these technological weapons at the level of UN institutions.
In December 2024, I received an invitation to read and review a book volume that deals with an important, often overlooked topic in Romanian literature. This review will focus on the collective volume titled “Perceptions of “Europe” and Europeanness in the Romanian Public Space of the 18th – 21th Centuries”, which was published in the same year under the coordination of Laurențiu Vlad. This review comes at a time of great tension for Romanian society for two reasons. Firstly, because the first round of the 2024 presidential elections was won by Călin Georgescu, an ultra-nationalist independent candidate, critic and opposer of the EU and NATO. Shortly after the results were announced, the Constitutional Court annulled the first round of elections based on reports from Romanian intelligence agencies suggesting Russian interference in the electoral process. The second reason is the 2025 re-run elections, where the final round sets the stage for a confrontation between an openly pro-EU candidate and another who views Romania-EU relations through a sovereign and Eurorealist lens
