THE ROLE OF MUSICAL CONSTRUCTION IN APPROACHING AND RENDERING OF OP. 52 LIEBESLIEDER-WALZER BY JOHANNES BRAHMS
In this article, I have outlined several aspects related to the musical structure and the conducting approach to the Brahms work for its interpretation. We adapted our interpretive concept to what the waltz means, and in the 18 pieces written in ternary meter, I presented some rhythmical-melodic formulas specific to the waltz. A specific aspect of Brahms’s music was the use of hemiolas, both in the vocal/choral part and in the piano accompaniment, which do not disrupt the flow of the musical discourse. In this regard, I proposed my own scheme for the articulation of each piece among the 18 waltzes, constituting an important element of my interpretative vision
UKRAINIAN FOLK INFLUENCES IN CONTEMPORARY CLASSICAL MUSIC: TRENDS AND PROSPECTS
The world’s folk art is one of the most significant topics in contemporary cultural practice, requiring careful analysis, as it is directly related to the processes of globalization, market transformations, and commerce. Art inevitably engages with themes of identity and self-determination, which become particularly pressing in nations confronting external challenges, as seen in Ukraine during the 2020s. This also applies to musical folklore, which remains an important source of inspiration for composers of academic music today. This article summarizes the role and significance of Ukrainian folk music in the work of 21st century composers. This study aims to examine the incorporation of folk music elements into modern symphonic, chamber, instrumental, and electronic compositions. The analysis focuses on works created between 2000 and 2024. This article analyzes the works of Ukrainian composers who work in a contemporary academic style and use elements of Ukrainian folk songs in their compositions. Folk motifs are integrated into various musical contexts, ranging from experimental electronic music to atonal and aleatoric orchestral textures, jazz harmonies, and dramatic moments in symphonic compositions. Globalization has posed new challenges to the world’s culture in terms of preserving folk art in modern conditions. However, Ukrainian folk art demonstrates considerable resilience and adaptability in the contemporary artistic environment
TRANSFORMING MUSIC EDUCATION IN UKRAINE: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES IN CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC EDUCATION REFORM
The article discusses the current challenges and prospects for developing music education in Ukraine while reforming the cultural and artistic sphere. Particular attention is paid to the role of grant funding as an effective tool for supporting educational initiatives, which allows for the preservation of cultural infrastructure and ensures the stability of the educational process in the context of limited resources. The study uses methods of financial analysis, comparison of regional differences in financing the cultural and educational sphere, and synthesis and generalization of cultural development strategies in Ukraine, which allowed the creation of a holistic view of state-of-the-art education. Particular attention is paid to analyzing the legal framework that regulates the activities of arts education institutions. The key barriers and opportunities for adapting Ukrainian music education to European standards were identified. The study results showed that grant support plays a significant role in preserving curriculum and creating new projects even during the war. In the future, it is planned to develop practical recommendations for improving the financing and management of cultural and educational institutions. An important area for further research is to assess the long-term impact of grant programs on increasing the competitiveness of Ukrainian art education in the international arena
ARNOLD SCHÖNBERG’S RECORD COLLECTION AT THE ARNOLD SCHÖNBERG CENTER, WIEN
This paper examines Arnold Schönberg’s record collection, held at the archives of the Arnold Schönberg Center. Transferred by the Austrian Media Library, it is now successively made available through the audio database of the Arnold Schönberg Center. Several examples from the collection are discussed, among them a personal message from the Schönberg Family. Music examples included Schönberg’s own recording of Transfigured Night op. 4 and the Kolisch Quartet performances of his String Quartets. These acoustic documents illuminate Schönberg’s performance aesthetics and compositional intentions. The paper emphasizes the archival approach to digitizing these records and preserving their authentic sonic qualities. Ultimately, it highlights the importance of meticulous archival work in uncovering Schönberg’s multifaceted legacy.

The Phenomenology of Rhythm in Early Mother-Infant Interactions
This paper investigates the phenomenon of rhythm in the case of early mother-infant interactions. To accomplish this task, I will first draw on phenomenological and psychoanalytical sources that address the issue of rhythmicity. Therefore, Henri Maldiney’s comprehensive interpretation of rhythm will represent a building block for my thesis, alongside theories from certain psychoanalytical authors, such as Donald Winnicott, Frances Tustin, and Daniel Stern. Marc Richir’s theory of the exchange of gazes between mother and infant will be also presented, because in Richir’s thematization, one could link the issue of rhythm with that of the sublime and the phenomenological awakening of the infant to the world. In his phenomenology, Marc Richir connects the issue of the sublime with that of the abyss. In contrast, Henri Maldiney states explicitly that rhythm is the structure that renders possible the encounter with chaos without falling forever. This will lead me to Frances Tustin’s theory of the “rhythm of safety”, under which I will be trying to demonstrate that rhythm is the essential feature of the infant’s feeling of basic security. Nevertheless, Daniel Stern’s theory of affect attunement and the dynamic forms of vitality will prove to be crucial for our argumentation, because these core concepts, which he proposed throughout his work reveal once again that rhythm is a pervasive feature of virtually every authentic intersubjective encounter
Counterfactuals, Modal Knowledge, and Understanding
In this essay, I attempt to diagnose and show the importance of a structural problem that affects Williamson’s counterfactual epistemology of modality. First, I provide a general, even if somewhat heuristical, description of the requirements that a realist epistemology of modality must fulfil. The requirements are analyzed and used for interpreting various controversial choices that Williamson and other philosophers make when theorizing modal knowledge. I then proceed to explain why a more thorough examination of the integration of Williamson’s view of understanding and of his restrictive epistemology of modality leads to the uncovering of a tension that jeopardizes Williamson’s robust realist tenets. I argue that a similar problem (or perhaps different problems with similar underlying reasons) befalls other realist accounts and show why various extant solutions are insufficient. The paper concludes with a reappraisal of the tasks that modal epistemologists have hitherto ignored or treated only collaterally, which may also be interpreted as a critical analysis of the limits of older and newer conceptions of metaphysical modality
LONGÉVITÉ ET VIE ÉTERNELLE
The essay proposes a concept of longevity that is conceivable not only at the level of the individual human being, but also of the human collectivity, notably in view of the critical situation in which our planet finds itself today. This is consistent with the principle of universality, which governs both the realisation of biblical zôé and of the bios as an object of scientific research. With an interdisciplinary approach, it is possible to work simultaneously on the longevity of a person and that of a habitable planet. Furthermore, eternal life, promised to all, is thus linked with conversion to the common good of the planete, aimed at the survival of the population of the world on a planet that will be habitable again in the future. This perspective matches the integral ecology advocated by Pope Francis in the encyclical Laudato Si’.

Balla Károly fogarasi lelkész fogsága és halála
The Imprisonment and Death of Károly Balla, Pastor of Fogaras. The study aims to present – largely based on archival sources – one of the traumatic events of the First World War through the life of a Reformed pastor. Despite the great wave of refugees, Károly Balla looked after the town and the values of the parish. He put his family and the parish’s most important movable property in a cart and set off for Cluj-Napoca. Károly Balla’s life was shattered, along with that of his family’s. He was eventually taken away by the Romanian soldiers, and only with great difficulty was he able to regain his freedom, even temporarily..
ASYMMETRIC, WATER-SOLUBLE CYANINE DYES: SYNTHESIS AND FLUORESCENT PROBE FOR THE Fe3+ ION
Two known symmetric and four novel asymmetric water-soluble pentamethyl cyanine dyes were synthesized and fully characterized by IR, MS and NMR. These dyes exhibited good water solubility and possessed good stability at different pH environment. On the basis of investigation toward the change of U-vis absorption spectra under heat or illumination, these results indicated that the asymmetric cyanine dyes have better photo-thermal stability than that of symmetric dyes under the state of solution, which was also proved by the results of thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Meanwhile, the researches on the fluorescent probes for metal ions detection demonstrated that the dyes can be considered as a fluorescent probe for detection of Fe3+ ion, and the anti-interference experiments displayed that the dye exhibits excellent selectivity towards Fe3+ ion over other common metal cations (Cr3+, Zn2+, Ni2+, Al3+, Mg2+, Cu2+)
THE ROLE OF VITAMIN B6 IN THE CHEMICAL SELF-PURIFICATION PROCESSES OF AQUATIC SYSTEMS
Water resources can constantly renew themselves due to their self-purification capacity, but anthropogenic activities reduce the intensity of these self-purification processes. One of the organic substances present in water is vitamin B6, which is present in surface waters as a result of biological processes in water bodies or as a result of anthropogenic impact. So, the changes in vitamin B6 were examined using test systems that included substances involved in the self-purification of natural waters: dissolved oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, and copper (II) ions. Analysis of the results obtained shows that vitamin B6 efficiently degrades by reacting with dissolved oxygen in the presence of copper ions. This indicates that the substrate is not persistent and can be easily removed from the aqueous environment
