Alex Ciorogar, Ascensiunea autorului în epoca globalizării digitale, Cluj-Napoca: Presa Universitară Clujeană, 2025, 418 p.
Alex Ciorogar’s book, published in 2025, takes on the complex task of sifting through theories of authorship that have emerged on the academic scene over the past fifty years. Ciorogar notices the strange place that the author occupies today in the literary field. After the death of the author, consecrated in the essays of Roland Barthes and Michel Foucault, the academic world seems to have gotten stuck, unable to go further and propose new theories. Although the two philosophers’ works are crucial, they have been “more quoted than read” (2), Ciorogar says, arguing that a new approach is needed, which requires “the death of the myth of the author’s return” (12)
REVIVING HERITAGE THROUGH PARTICIPATION: FAI SPRING DAYS AND THE POLITICS OF CULTURAL CITIZENSHIP IN ITALY
This paper examines the Giornate FAI di Primavera (FAI Spring Days), a prominent public heritage initiative organized by the Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano (FAI), as a lens through which to analyze contemporary practices of participatory heritage-making in Italy. In March 2025, marking FAI’s 50th anniversary, more than 750 cultural and environmental sites—many of which are usually inaccessible— were opened to the public, attracting over 400,000 visitors and involving the active participation of over 50,000 student volunteers. Drawing on a multi-source qualitative analysis that integrates institutional discourse, digital ethnography and national media coverage, the article explores how FAI Spring Days operate as affective apparatus that shape collective memory, civic emotion and national identity. It argues that the initiative operates as a form of soft civic power, mobilizing aesthetic engagement, ritualized participation and digital storytelling to foster a sense of cultural stewardship. Social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook amplify the event’s emotional and symbolic resonance, contributing to a digitally mediated public of belonging. By engaging diverse audiences across generations and regions, FAI Spring Days exemplify a civic model of heritage democratization and cultural citizenship in 21st-century Italy. This paper contributes to ongoing debates on participatory heritage, media rituals and affective publics, situating the case study within broader transformations in heritage governance.

The Relationship Between Perceived Stress and Burnout Among University Students: the Mediating Role of Resilience
This study explores the link between perceived stress and burnout among university students and examines whether resilience mediates this relationship. Data were collected from 157 Hungarian minority students enrolled at a Romanian university using convenience and snowball sampling, which may introduce selection bias due to non-random participant recruitment. Participants completed the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS), and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), all in Hungarian. All participants provided informed consent. Results showed a positive association between perceived stress and burnout, and a negative association between resilience and both perceived stress and burnout. Mediation analysis indicated that resilience partially mediates the relationship between perceived stress and burnout. These findings highlight resilience as a protective factor that mitigates the adverse impact of stress on student burnout. Moreover, results underscore the importance of targeted interventions for minority student populations in Eastern Europe
WHEN CARE MEETS CAPITALISM: ORGANIZATIONAL WELLBEING IN ROMANIA
This paper presents a descriptive qualitative study of organizational wellbeing in Romania, asking: How is the field of workplace wellbeing organized? The analysis focuses on the actors, actions, and tensions that structure this emerging space and considers its broader implications. The theoretical framework draws on Foucault (biopolitics and subjectivation), Thévenot & Boltanski (justification through translation), and Boltanski & Chiapello (The New Spirit of Capitalism), framing wellbeing as a practice of governing subjectivity at the intersection of genuine care and managerial imperatives of efficiency and productivity. Empirical data comes from 12 in-depth interviews with HR professionals, wellbeing specialists, and external service providers. Findings reveal three coexisting worlds of justification: inspired, industrial, and market-based; between which actors translate ideas. Rather than opposing each other, the actors\u27 positions in the process mark different stages in the reform of the spirit of capitalism. Organizational wellbeing thus emerges as a space of tension and collaboration, shaping the “well” employee: high-performing, autonomous, healthy, and engaged. The paper contributes to a critical understanding of organizational wellbeing as both support for employees and a subtle mechanism of control and reproduction of capitalist norms, while mapping its specific Romanian dynamics

Personal Knowledge and Faith of a Scientist: Providence, Gratefulness, Sense of Vocation Sickness and Medicine, Education and the Belief in God and Mathematics
This study intends to probe into the Christian faith of a well-known Hungarian scientist, István Hatvani (1718–1786). It does not claim to look at all of his writings by scrutinizing all of his statements about how science and Christian faith encountered in his life. However, it seeks to analyse his autobiography with a view to understanding how his personal life story, a lived Christian faith, had informed and influenced the perception of his own pursuit of science by the time he began to teach at one of the most prestigious Protestant centres of knowledge in Central Europe, at the Debrecen Reformed College in Hungary. The “confession” and reflection, as will be seen, is really informative about the basis of his faith and intention. This research paper focuses on three aspects typical of Calvinism such as providence, gratefulness, a call for vocation, a mandate and arrives at the beautiful confession of a scientist about God the Sustainer and Provider of all living creatures
EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN-BASED OPTIMIZATION APPROACHES IN UPLC METHOD DEVELOPMENT: SIMULTANEOUS QUANTITATIVE ESTIMATION OF SULFADIAZINE AND TRIMETHOPRIM IN A COMBINED VETERINARY FORMULATION
This study reports a comparative application of three different experimental designs to develop ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) methods for simultaneous quantification of sulfadiazine and trimethoprim in veterinary tablets. The effects of column temperature, buffer ratio, and flow rate on chromatographic response were systematically evaluated by response surface methodology using full factorial design (FFD), Box–Behnken design (BBD), and central composite design (CCD). Full quadratic models were constructed and evaluated for each design, using statistical parameters and studying the response surface plots. Then, optimal conditions providing efficient peak resolution in shortest runtime were calculated, and experimentally confirmed. FFD and BBD produced nearly identical optimal conditions, while CCD yielded conditions with shorter run time and sufficient resolution. The optimal conditions were determined from two experimental design methods: the first set from FFD and BBD (collectively referred to as FFD/BBD-UPLC), and the second set from CCD (referred to as CCD-UPLC). Both sets of conditions underwent system suitability tests and were validated for linearity, limits of detection and quantification, precision, accuracy, and specificity. Recoveries for sulfadiazine and trimethoprim were within 99.3-100.5% with relative standard deviations less than 1.8%. The developed methods were successfully applied to commercial veterinary tablet analysis, with statistically comparable assay results in accordance with the label claims for both drugs
EFFECT OF ELEVATED CONCENTRATIONS OF CADMIUM ON HEAVY METAL(OID)S CONTENT, ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY AND CONTENT OF ROSMARINIC ACID OF LEMON BALM (MELISSA OFFICINALIS L.)
Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis L.) is a well-established medicinal plant prized for its rich content of bioactive compounds. This study explored how artificial cadmium (Cd) contamination of soil affects the accumulation of heavy metal(oid)s, antioxidant activity, and the concentration of rosmarinic acid in lemon balm. At a soil Cd level of 20 mg/kg, plant growth was reduced, while the concentrations of most other elements, antioxidant activity, total phenolics, and flavonoids decreased, and the rosmarinic acid content increased slightly. In contrast, lower Cd levels (5 and 10 mg/kg) led to a modest increase in antioxidant activity and phenolic content. Cadmium accumulation in the aerial parts exceeded the WHO limit for medicinal plants. Although minor improvements in antioxidant properties were observed at lower Cd levels, and rosmarinic acid increased at 20 mg/kg, the health risks associated with Cd accumulation remain a concern. Therefore, monitoring Cd content in lemon balm grown on contaminated soils is essential to ensure its safe medicinal use
HYDRAULIC MODELING AND OPTIMIZATION OF THE OIL GATHERING NETWORK IN THE PERIPHERAL FIELD RAMA–RAA NORTH, HASSI MESSAOUD (ALGERIA)
This study presents the hydraulic modeling and optimization of the RAMA and RAA crude oil gathering network in Algeria’s Hassi Messaoud oil field to enhance production efficiency and ensure stable field performance. A digital network model was developed using PIPESIM to simulate multiphase flow behavior from the wellheads to the Early Production Facility (EPF). The model calibration showed strong agreement between simulated and measured pressures, with deviations below 7%, confirming its reliability. Simulation results revealed several oversized flowlines with velocities below the recommended 1–5 m/s range and an undersized line (MFD BEKEN) exhibiting excessive velocities and pressure losses above 0.85 bar/km. To address these issues, the impact of integrating 11 new wells was evaluated, showing increase in line and manifold pressures. An optimization study was subsequently conducted by adjusting pipeline diameters and adding new flowlines in compliance with API design standards. The optimized configuration improved velocity distribution and reduced erosion risks, ensuring safer and more efficient network operation across the RAMA–RAA fields
MOOMIN, COTTAGECORE, AND THE RETURN TO PEACEFUL LIVING: A CULTURAL DIPLOMACY CASE STUDY OF FINLAND AND JAPAN
From their origins as a children’s book series by Tove Jansson, the Moomins were turned into Finnish national identity symbols and literary exponents of soft power. Their popularity in Japan, particularly through early TV adaptations and merchandise, offers a case study in how cultural exports can forge transnational links. The study highlights how the Moomins’ aesthetic and values resonate with Japan’s cultural sensibilities and Finland’s nation branding as a peaceful, nature-oriented nation. The study also addresses the recent re-popularization of the characters and their tales within the “cottagecore” phenomenon, bridging nostalgia and modern soft power agendas
